Hi all. I have been physiotherapist for 15 years in Canada. I don't see our profession is improving. Moreover, patient think physiotherapy is like massage therapy. I think physio should expand their field in diagnostic imaging, medicine and supplements relevant to our field, laboratory testing. In this way Physio would have credential for what they are doing. Referring everything to medical doctor( for getting Tens machine, stocking, braces be approved by insurance),it makes physio looks we don't have knowledge to do anything. For exercise, patient says they can see TH-cam. They don't have to come to clinic and pay money. I would like to know what other physio think we can do to improve our profession?. We have studied a lot to be considered as massage therapist or personal trainer. The most weirdest thing is different kind of soft tissue manipulation emerging in Physio profession. If Physio is more about soft tissue mobilization, I don't think we should have studied for 4 years of bachelors and 2 years of masters.
wow had no idea it was like that in the US, in Mexico is similar. As a physical therapist i can t prescribe therapy without the approval of a rehabilitation doctor. We also have no imaging on our university curriculum which enables us to be able to make any proper diagnostics.
mike, this is my first time actually watching instead of listening, and seeing how animated and fidgety you are, I have realized you're my spirit animal
Why?. Feel underqualified Fix. Research Why? No Passion Fix. Upgrade yourself Why?Notes Overload Fix. Pace notes. Why? Insurance Fix. Don't Procrastinate. Why? Quantity. Fix. Quality Fix. Stay Current Fix. Work life balance Don't let a bad hour turn into a bad day. That is an exellent quote. I am a student and I am so glad I found your channel
I see new clinicians spend too much time obsessing over clinical “skill” having yet to truly learn patient relationship and interaction which aids in patient compliance AND outcomes

That is very true! Got to focus on that as much as, or even more than, your technical skills!
