      @helicop 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ***** I just thought it was funny that He used that as a defense. I looked into it and he toured with Poison, and admitted that although he and George had talked about it in depth before the interview. He still flew off the handle. Nothing to do with Broadway or Rock Opera. I'm not a fan of either, but I do like what Rufus Wainright has done.

    • @OVI-Wan-Kenobi-8
      @OVI-Wan-Kenobi-8 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JesusSaves NYC Their first album Look What The Cat Dragged In (1986) was their best album, they even had some heavy songs like "Play Dirty" but the album was purely a hard rock/ glam metal album and not heavy metal. Their 2nd album Open Up and Say Ahh (1988) was pretty much the same but a bit more pop rock orientated. By the time the third album Flesh and Blood came out I was no longer a fan and essentially stopped listening to them. "Ride the wind" was the only decent song from the 3rd album but what really ruined it for me was that god awful Unskinny Bop song. By the early 90s, Poison was starting to lose their success fairly quickly because they failed to adapt to the harder and darker music like Guns N Roses and Skid Row that was becoming the new standard in hard rock. By 1992/93, Seattle grunge was the final nail in the coffin for glam bands like Poison, after that nobody really heard anything from them until after the early 2000s after everybody finally got sick and tired of grunge and post-grunge. Regardless of it all, I'm still looking forward to seeing Poison live this summer for the first time since 1989 and they'll be performing with Def Leppard and Tesla.

    the interviewer is leading the interview to a dead end, and wants the interviewee to agree with him after he making clear he didn't agree. Keep on doing it until the interview is over. The role of an interviewer is to ask question not to argue with the interviewee about his answers, and he obviously knows that cause it's his job..

    The interviewer is 28 years old & a new jack. He was a baby in his pampers wen skid row was at its prime! He probably don't know anything about metal rock music yet works as a interviewer 4 the money!

    • @ptoolemy
      @ptoolemy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think he was in pampers, because Sebastian was around 32 years old at this interview so this guy is about 4 years old younger, so when Skid Row first came out he was around 16 years old.

  • @Afrobomination
    @Afrobomination 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Hahaha, he gets so bent out of shape over the comparison to Poison. If someone is familiar with Skid Row but doesn't actually listen to them, it's reasonable to suggest such a similarity. I mean even a big majority of Skid Row fans -really- like 18 To Life for some reason. If you are at a Skid Row concert, you always hear people shout out that song for some reason, even though overall they represent a heavier side. 18 To Life is just what Skid Row is on the surface.
    I don't get why he picked "I Remember You' of all songs to distance Skid Row from Poison, come on man...Slave to the Grind!

  • @rfd73

    I love skid row (sebastian bach) era only. But he is fucking crazy if he is in anyway embarrassed to be associated with Cinderella. Fred Coury sat in for GNR when steven broke his hand. But when baz auditioned for velvet revolver(3/5) of GNR he got turned down. And Cnderella and Poison are great bands.

  • @MsCruisein
    @MsCruisein 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Skid Row is not like Poison. I cant understand why George felt like he should insist to Sebastian, someone who was THERE for christ's sake, that this is the God's honest. I mean... if you've ever in your life listened to Look What the Cat Dragged In or Open Up and Say Ahh (glam metal stupidity, which is fine- It's its own thing and it has a niche) you would never lump that in with Slave to the Grind or Subhuman Race. I could almost see a comparison between the first Skid Row record and songs like Cant Stand the Heartache, but that's about as far as the similarity goes. Skid Row was famous for their ballads, and perhaps that's why he thinks they're a glam metal band. Sheesh Louise, way to irritate the crap out of your interviewee. He clearly wasn't into discussing Skid Row or anything but his play and why George ignored that to insist Skid Row fans ARE Poison fans, I'll never know.

      I particularly enjoy when Baz says, "I don't agree" and George says, " Of course you do." What the hell is that? Don't think that tactic is outlined in Idiots Guide to Interviewing A Guy Who Has Been Kicked Out Of That Band You Insist On Discussing.

  • @creepshowcrate
    @creepshowcrate 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I don't blame Bas on this one, the interviewer had a rookie, generic, view of metal, with stupid questions about money and Poison. "Sing about songs," he says. Cinderella was a much heavier band too, and didn't deserve to be lumped into that either. Sebastian with his dressing room wallpapered with KISS posters, like the diehard fan he'll always be. KISS Army, baby.

  • @wasatchm
    @wasatchm 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    you're probably on the losing end of the argument if you're a member (or ex member) of skid row and you start by trying to compare yourself to guns n roses. I grew up in the 80's and separated metal bands in to 1st tier (huge bands) and 2nd tier (wanna be huge but aren't). the 1st tier bands were obvious (ratt, motley, guns, poison, cinderella, dokken, bon jovi, whitesnake). the second tier bands weren't nearly as popular (slaughter, firehouse, winger, L.A. guns, steelheart) but where equally as obvious. they were crap as far as I was concerned. skid row was neither a first tier band or second tier band (in my opinion). they were somewhere in the middle......like maybe a tesla, white lion. they weren't really headliners, but they were way better than an opening act. skid row's 1st album didn't come out till 89. had there 1st album came out 2 years earlier, things might have been different for them. there first album was the only album that got any airplay where I grew up. after that, it was liked they dropped off the face of the planet.

    As a fan of Sebastian Bach from the 1st album, being compared with or even talked about in the same sentence is a sin. Can't you listen to the difference between what I call cheese acts or bubble gum music. Sebastian Bach is a very talented vocalist. He's got heart, soul, passion and is an amazing frontman. To be forgiven, you must listen to the 1st two albums, watch Skid Row play a live show and just so you learn your lesson and don't fall into sin again, listen to an early show from Pantera. After listening to the two excellent band's I said, then go listen to a poison CD. They aren't really musicians, just guys dressed like chick's and no musical talent to be heard. Sad interview.

  • @pillsareyummy
    @pillsareyummy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Did Back just say that Skid Row was bigger (more successful) than Guns N Roses?! Yikes! Skid Row wasn't on the same planet as GnR as far as popularity and record sales is concerned. Skid Row were a good band and Back is a great singer and frontman, however they were nowhere near as popular as GnR were/are.

    • @MsCruisein
      @MsCruisein 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      What he said was when Guns and The Skids came out they (meaning grittier, more honest bands of substance) obliterated feel-good, pop metal bands like Poison.

  • @thecast3717
    @thecast3717 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    First Skid Row didnt obliterate nobody,second Pantera who would probably take as an insult to be compared with skid row,third just type "Glam metal bands" Poison is 2nd and the Skid Row is the 10th...what bullshit

    • @MsCruisein
      @MsCruisein ปีที่แล้ว

      Skid Row gave Pantera their first US stadium tour as their opener. They're all good friends. They wouldn't be insulted by it at all. They played together, played each others songs and continued their relationships beyond their tour. Snake is Down's manager these days.
