Alanis Morissette was born and raised in Ottawa, the daughter of schoolteachers. She began playing piano at the age of six, wrote her first song when she was 10 and was a regular on the kids show "You Can't Do That On Television". A couple of years later, Alanis signed her first record deal and became known as "The Debbie Gibson of Canada". Fortunately, "dance-pop" wasn't what Alanis was striving for. She packed her bags, moved to L.A. and met a producer named Glen Ballard. The pair wrote and recorded an album which would make music history. "Jagged Little Pill" became the best-selling international debut album by a female artist and is considered the 10th best selling album of all time! To date, it has sold an astounding 30-million albums and earned her both Juno and Grammy awards. A couple years later, Alanis released her followup album, "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" and started acting again, taking on the role of "God" in the Kevin Smith movie "Dogma". Since then, Alanis has released another three studio albums, hosted the 2004 Juno Awards and in 2007, she was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame Her new album is called "Flavors of Entanglement".
The BEST lyricist EVER...
She has this aura of wisdom around her, it's amazing. She definitely knows herself and her feelings much more than most people know theirs, and it must be awesome for her to be able to express that through her music.
Something about her
"Playground of life".
She's such a great writer and even when she talks it leaks out in wonderful playful language.
Me in love.
Naturally beautiful!
I love Alanis! Shes so amazing. So talented.
Both of them have such a calm and welcoming vibe which makes the conversation so nice to listen to!
I wonder how many of us think about doing what we love but dont ever really take the time to do what makes our hearts sing.
jagged little pill is the handbook TO LIFE
Agreed.
Hearing her sing bring tears to my eyes and makes me want to do music again.
Have loved A.M. since she came out in the 90s. Only saw her once live. Still love her!
That's what I was just telling my husband. This is the first interview I think I've seen with her. She is humorous without being stupid, and intelligent without showing off. As a musician, I greatly respect her :)
"No, I just really loved the lyric. 'Work work work work work work...'" 🔥🤣
great artist.very intelligent.one of my top female artists..all her songs have a message and a meaning ...
WOW, she's almost 50 years old and she looks awesome and actualy even better than when she was younger....

Can't help smiling while you watch.
She is so amazing, yay she's Canadian!
But, what a great artist!
Alanis is one of my very favorite artists. I am so glad that she is thriving. There is a life handbook: the Bible.
She is such a sweetheart.
I love the 90's Alanis music
She is so pretty. I love her style. And alot of her songs.
Alanis' Jagged Little Pill, Natalie Merchant's Tigerlilly and Mazzy Star's So Tonight That I Might See were it for me in the 90's, greatest decade for music period!
my thoughts....i remember seeing her vids on some music channel back when she was doing the typical music scene of the early 90's.then she came out with jagged little pill! and wow did she blow everyone away!!! she kinda tagged onto that "nirvana" thing but definately took over.seeing her here, she is really a strong very articulate beautiful woman!! anyone that is with her has to be a strong person in their own right. love her down to earth "i am a human and i know it" attitude :)
i just love you so much Alanis
She's always been a cutie pie. So pretty!!!
What a great interview! Too bad it was so short, the questions were wonderful, i loved!
She looks so beautiful here!
I love it. My girl giving it up at 3:58 to Anger as a positive force in artistic creation. She's got that ability to translate anger into understanding, not to mention genius songs!!!
MY QUEEN
i love alanis.
I have always admired her. She was a nonconformist woman doing things her way when not many women were.
I love her, and I love her hair
wow i just heard her song thank you india man i love her voice
high school + obsession + jagged little pill = my 90's!
WHAT A GREAT INTERVIEW!!
AN AWESOME GAL INDEED; NEVER T00 S00N, NEVER T00 LATE.....
She's gotten even prettier. I really like her.
She does look great!
I don't think you mean that. I have not been a fan of hers but cannot deny that her musical approach was greatly original and her voice has strength and... tune.
Tiss-you. I like that. She's amazing.

i LOVE this woman
For me it's always been about the words even though Alanis the album was dance it's still as powerful as everything she touches cxxx 💐🌷💚 Alanis morissette for queen of Gaia,,, cxxx 🌠🌟

man she's so beautiful.
This is the best she`s ever looked. Damn what a difference.
She's looking good these days
here was wonderful ♥
She looks gorgeous here !
I agree with you... I think he is a brilliant interviewer, he's quirky, playful and yet intellectually adept at getting you to answer questions which may possibly be landmines. E.g. 8:49. But then again she seems that kind of person whom you could not get a negative reaction from without great challenge.
My Humps was and is, epic. Sometimes the silly random moment stuff can be some of the best.
GENIOUS!!! gotta love her*
shes so fuxkin charming
Amazing
The interviewer had great questions
crazy how young she looks
Strombo has kickass style for a talk show host.
I do very much so!
If she was still living in Ottawa id knock at her house to meet her.. since I live in Ottawa
she has a few different looks, its awesome
tall skinny long hair
short hair/chill
mature/serious/pro
it's amazing that she's only 38 years old and she's done... everything you can hope to in this life. lol. what's she going to do for the next 40 years?!
alanis is lovely and gorgeous, she's like kate bush: great music, great integrity. cheers
She was not a regular on YCDTOTV! She was only on there for a year.
Full name: Alanis Nadine Morrisette. Born June 15,1974 in Ottawa,Ontario.
he dident even say one thing about you cant do that on television that was where alanis got here true start on that tv show the music came after
he mentioned it in the intro
yes Peace!
I agree with you. The world is more materialist in nowadays. I feel sorry for Alanis's albuns. They've been falling down. She doesn't decert.
P.S. Sorry my bad English.
She looks good
Damn she's so conscious.
Freaking awesome..such a beautiful sexy intelligent woman..well done..ty..\m/
She is talented....
She’s a great singer but I think I enjoy hearing her speak more
The best things to come out of Canada is George
And TOM GREEN
"Flavors of entanglement." - "Hi, nice to meet you!" :-D
There's many difference between Alanis and other singers:
She writes her own songs, she as goals, she's very connected with her lyrics and knows what she's talking about.
She's not like britney spears, that shaves her hair, or like Amy Winehouse, that she's like 24 years old and can die at any time by the drugs. That's what I don't understand. Why people prefer singers with disorder and don't write there own songs, instad of pepole that talk with the world?
@yancybutler
yup alanis is my age now.
no she started off on the tv show you cant do that on television she dident just pop up in the 90's she was on YCDTOTV in 1986
omg i forgot about that show i use to love it lol green slim
why wouldent they mention it if it were not for you cant do that on television she would be nothing
They spelled FLAVOURS wrong on the album cover.
well, technically there are two different ways to spell it, the british (flavours) and the american (flavors)
it is widely known, at least in canada, that george is crazy about Alanis.
"You gotta make you work. Work. Make you work work work work work." HA!
Intelligent!
I said interview with mario treadway please
Yeah Canadian
I was just gonna say the same thing. She was always kinda a tomboy... but now... wooooeee.
1:24 - Deborah Cox??
She's a relic of the late 90's.
DAM, she just gets hotter and hotter.
Love you, Alanis. Why did you cut your hair? Why women cut their hair when they become mom? It makes you older ...
she would have made a great children's television show host. she's so chipper and silly.
Alanis Morisette looks like pastor: Melissa Scott =) doesnt she??
dude anger is like the god of makeing hits.
pmsing I know what how she feels
wow, she has Melanie C's hair style.
The thing about bio-diesel bus is to imagine another alternative than regular fossil fuels because unfortunately, bio diesel make more harm than good !
Why? Cause she looks like every other air head? I believe she looked just as beautiful as before. Shes just changed
@TrollSimonCowell ...Uh She's like 36.
does it seem like hes way into her??
1:30 - 1:40: DAAAMN I haaave to do this in a stage someday! *----*
Umm, honey you are critiquing the English Language--more pointedly its usage. However you should be quite careful to make sure your spell check is on. We ALL can't be intelligent without it. What precisely is wrong with starting a sentence with 'I Don't Know'?!
she may be hotter than, or equal to juliette lewis
her talking voice doesn't sound like her singing voice does :p
