I just admire how this track is mixed. I don't know how they did it but if you really focus and listen deeper it's just mindblowing how many things are going on at once.

when I bought this album my friends and I immediately put it in a stereo, the first track had a super low volume so we pumped it up... when this song LITERALLY EXPLODED, we shat our pants! well played, Mars Volta!
I went to tower records and bought this album the day it came out. Being the huge tool fan I am, I saw them open for a perfect circle and fell in love. I got home after my purchase, smoked a j and listened to this behemoth. To start off with this and end with Cassandra Gemini wtf?!? The journey I experienced that day i will never forget
No one makes music like The Mars Volta. No band right now can create this original of a song, put out 6 albums that are in genres of their own, and move me so much with their music. Top notch musicians and I laugh at the people who pan this band's genius.
This song builds up slowly, perfectly and so epically and climaxes at 7:38 with Cedric's greatest singing EVER with a series of the most angelic high-notes in the history of mankind (7:48! to end). The smoothness of composition and production, singing, and overall sound of Deloused and Francis era is the crowning glory of the mars volta imho. I love all their music, their lyrical content and music is always fresh and amazing but this epic sound smooth quality I miss a lot. Love this song

I'll never forget the first time I listened to this song. What. The. Fuck. Feel like there's some Santana Jingo in there. When I think of best TMV tracks, this is always top-of-the-mind.
I figure you mean to say that they have a more extroverted attitude overall, but stating that those 3 Prog Giants have NO balls, meaning they "take no risks", is way too incorrect and irrational, they simply have different styles and that's all.
Not in a million years. Jon's grooves were perfect for the band. Deantoni and Pridgen are great drummers but they couldn't fill the gap. After Amputechture it was all downhill.
I've scoured every HMV i know for this album; the one Mars Volta album i don't have, and NONE of them sell this one :/ But it seems like an amazing album. And yes i'm aware of downloads but i want the actual CD. xD
@JUSTIN030783 Well, this was uploaded in '09. After '06 or '07 people couldn't say they were a director anymore, which meant you have to be granted special privileges to upload videos longer than 10 minutes. Cygnus is a 12 and half minute track, and the last few minutes are synth and ambiance. A lot of tracks on Frances the Mute are like that, like The Widow.
Just found these guys.....yes it is similar to yes genesis gentle giant ozric tentacles king crimson and so on...I love prog shit and these guys got it
Thomas Pridgen is my favorite drummer, but Jon Theodore made the best mars volta albums, not pridgen. Deloused and Frances were absolute musical monsters on their own. Bedlam had the sickest drumming, but I hated the songs themselves. that's just my opinion though.
I just hated the drumming... Nah. But that gospel chops drumming is very impressive and all but I'm just not getting the feel of it. Also the sound in general, guitar sound mainly, started to get too "metal" at that point.
I remember seeing them on tour for Frances at the Santa Barbara Bowl and there was freaking steam coming off of Theodore. Made him look like he was on fire :D One of the most amazing concerts I’ve ever been to.
This track still leaves me breathless 9 years after discovering it.
Now 10 years
now 12 years thats almost as old as me
14 or 15 years for me, I lost my fucking mind the first time I heard this.
🤩
I just admire how this track is mixed. I don't know how they did it but if you really focus and listen deeper it's just mindblowing how many things are going on at once.
Michał Umiński Frances the Mute is truly a progressive rock CLASSIC. I would argue the best progressive rock album of last 30 years.
I agree
Listen to it on shrooms and you will understand ;)
Ala4,,
i listened to this whole album all the way through today.....so mindblowing the middle section is in 29/16 time for all the fellow musicians on this page
devin prieur cant play a lick, sounds easy when they do it.
Time signatures are arbitrary, you can count it however you feel. You could count the majority of this song in 13.2/8 if you want
@@BobrLovr i guess theyre arbitrary if you dont care if it sounds the same? Kinda seems like they really arent.
I pelvic thrust to this in the hallways.

Im happy you put the effort into figuring that out, I applaud you 👏👏👏
@@ianh1504 I'm happy that There are bands like The Mars Volta that I feel like is worth my effort.
:v
great work! Some of these time signatures I've been trying to figure out for years
To me, it looks right. This song is insane!
Agree. I've never heard music like this before. No one touches this band. No one.
Frances the Mute is one of the best rock albums of this era
when I bought this album my friends and I immediately put it in a stereo, the first track had a super low volume so we pumped it up... when this song LITERALLY EXPLODED, we shat our pants! well played, Mars Volta!
Goryllo hahaha, same exact experience :D

To all the dislikers: i come to your house and fart in your kitchen
probly smell better tbh
The dislikers are probably disliking the video cuz of ads
It's kinda scummy to make money of just a cut version of a band's song isn't it?
nice to take a trip down memory lane
No one makes music like The Mars Volta. No band right now can create this original of a song, put out 6 albums that are in genres of their own, and move me so much with their music. Top notch musicians and I laugh at the people who pan this band's genius.
Phenominal song, i love getting lost in this shit
El inicio de mi album favorito
Love that chill outro. Epic tune
Cedric is one hell of a poet.
I turned the volume up at the start coz I thought it was a quiet song. Then BAM! FUCKING AWESOME!
This song is so great on so many levels.... and the VERY last song on this album ties directly to this song, I love it!
I heard it twice in the same dream clear as day!!!!
I cry when i listen to this album. For millions of reasons, but i always cry.
This song builds up slowly, perfectly and so epically and climaxes at 7:38 with Cedric's greatest singing EVER with a series of the most angelic high-notes in the history of mankind (7:48! to end). Me too, even to this day :)
Blood screaming with rage, I am born
Bring me !! BRING ME THIS PLAGE !!!
This is their masterpiece. Batshit and yet coherent
Listen to it on shrooms and you will understand ;)
@@randomrachael420 I listened to it on acid and it scared me lol
Go listen to the 25 min of Cassandra Gemini, I think that is their magnum opus
Man, fuck easy listening; this is the music I want to listen to while I work.
i dont understand why frances the mute(the song) isnt on the album before this song. its such an amazing song.
4.19min is epic!!!
Yea man! Spot on! Early "The Mars Volta" is the best music I've ever heard.
In my opinion the first 3 albums are unreal!!
The lyrics are just pure excellence. The Widow got me so emotional.
I was skepticall until THAT FUCKING DROP
The solo in this song is quite honestly Hendrix worthy.
At 1:14?
I know what your talking about !!!! My favorite of all times I can jam to this all day !!!
The ocean floor is hidden
From your viewing lens
A depth perception
Languished in the night
All my life,I've been
Sowing the wounds
But the seeds sprout
A lachrymal cloud
Nino preparate
Que vas sufrir
Nino preparate
Salte veneno
Nino preparate
Salte de aqui
Nino preparate
Labios temblando
Nino preparate
Salte veneno
Nino preparate
Salte de aqui
Nino preparate
Brincan los cuerpos
Vas a sufrir
My nails peel back
When the taxidermist ruined
Goose stepped the freckling impatience
All the brittle tombs
Five hundred little q's
I'm splitting hairs to
Match the faces
All night I'll hunt for you
Let me show you what I mean
Sangre
Sonando
De rabia naci
Now this train don't lie
An abortion that survived
A lineage of
Bastard mastacation
All the severed proof
Talons scratch my suite
These are the feathers
That replace them
All night I'll hunt for you
Let me show you what I mean
Sangre
Sonando
De rabia naci
Who do you trust
Will they feed us the womb
Chrome the fetal mirage
Will they feed us the womb
I found the remnants
Of a crescent fang
It cleaned my wing
Down to the bone
Umbilical syllables
Left to decode
There was no cradle
I can taste it
Come on now
All night I'll hunt for you
Let me show you what I mean
Sangre
Sonando
De rabia naci
Who do you trust
Will they feed us the womb
Chrome the fetal mirage
Will they feed us the womb
Bring me this plague
She took a drink
Those nicotine stains
On his every word
My scavenger quilt
Will only hide the truth
Bring me
Bring me this plague
I count the days to find
What was left behind
Only these names I clutch
Will lead me to my home
Somehow this river marks
A wrinkle hand in mine
And everyday that parts
The water into two
Mothers and feathers start
To drown the living proof
I can't remember these lakes of blood
Wrapped in a blanket
There sweats a cut
Who do you trust
Will they feed us the womb
Chrome the fetal mirage
Will they feed us the womb
best solo part i've ever heard in a song....
the sickest song i've ever heard!!!
obra maestra!
i didnt just to understand english and i still love this songs now that i do shitttt i cant stop listening to them i luv tmv

I agree Karl Marx
but Karl Marx, what about the rest of the song????
I'll never forget the first time I listened to this song. What. The. Fuck. Feel like there's some Santana Jingo in there. When I think of best TMV tracks, this is always top-of-the-mind.
best drug ever.
This is truly unique progressive rock in the style of Gentle Giant, Genesis, and King Crimson, but with balls.
Hermoso
I figure you mean to say that they have a more extroverted attitude overall, but stating that those 3 Prog Giants have NO balls, meaning they "take no risks", is way too incorrect and irrational, they simply have different styles and that's all.

@imjustkidding24 Didn't they end up not having enough space on the album for Frances The Mute?
3;20 is EPIC!

3:20 noooooooooooooia
@gr8tr1522 Yeah, definitely go with De-loused in the Comatorium. They're debut album and best yet.
29/16 for the 4:19?
I feel sorry for all the many people who moved on from this song before they got to 0:47
@jevimetal13 the real question is not how did they do that, but how the hell they concieve that part in their mind....
Now imagine this but all the artists were to keep secret their individual parts and had to play only to a metronome. That's how this record was made.
If anyone knows a guitarist who shreds like this, I wanna know?
Stephen Brown dave navarro on jabes addiction. Take ted just admit and ocean size as examples :D
@juggernaut725 WILL THEY FEED US THE WOMB?
Is that a sheppard-risset glissando at 4:00minutes?
ALL ABOUT 3:20
I feel bad for you.
Hey men i hyper stend my arm Yeh im feel bad to
They didn't get rid of him, he left because he basically said the band had run it's course.
Who do you truuuuuuuuuuust?
Jon Theodore is the fucking god!
@G8tr1522 dude!!! no joke seriously listen to all Mars Volta material, fucking amazing you will love it i promise!!!
@piratejames11 I assume because it would have been too much to fit on one disc, but I still listen to it first regardless.
whats with the green?
Will they feed us the womb!!!
i found this from roblox and listened to all there songs, i love this band but my dad apparently listens to this too :/
