After knowing what The Mars Volta were and owning some of their albums I have to admit that Scabdates really fucked me up and still is one of my favorite live records ever.
I sure do hope we get another live album from TMV. Their catalog has grown a lot since Scabdates. I want good audio quality releases of newer live material. Because they're beast mode live!!! They always perform their songs differently. So it's like hearing a different version of their songs. They're my favorite band!
@Growskull I remember they played a festival once, and they completely improvised the entire set. It was one 40+min nonstop song they made up on the spot. Omar comes out before they start and says something like (paraphrased) "We really didn't know what to play for this thing. So we're just gonna make up something here for you. Call it whatever you want, I dunno, 'Abortion, The Other White Meat.'"😆 You can find uploads of it on YT. Just type in the on the spot name he gave it.👍🏽
When I bought this record I had no idea. It was a shock, same when I bought my first TMV record Frances The Mute, Cygnus fucked me hard in the brain. It wasn't the first song I heard from them but that first whole record experience was life changing.
bought this cd when i was a sophomore. rite after frances the mute came outZ the mars volta was on fucking fire. 10:30 seconds in is like my favorite part of any tmv piece ever.
They always change up their live performances. I feel like I'm missing out on the best music ever because it's not all recorded! Thank God or the Universe or whatever that they were so creative. So many musicians perform their songs as recorded (tho still great!) with no difference live. Mars Volta really fucked me up by changing up shit all of the time!
@@erikh246 Yes! It's like listening to different versions of their songs. Many of my favorite bands perform their songs differently live, like Rage Against The Machine.
@Growskull Only the best band in the world! You clicked on this video which is a live recoding of one of their songs. You literally clicked their name to load this video!
If you were lucky enough to see these scab songs live in 05, you know... There will never be anything like this. Best concert I've ever seen.
Nobody here forgets the first time they heard Cygnus Vismund Cygnus

Came here for Jonah Hill in Bring him to the greek...I was not dissapointed.

Best line/scene in the movie. Best line of his career.
I was a fan of Volta before seeing that scene and laughed my ass off. 😅Because that was me when I sing along to Volta, too relatable!😱
