This was my favorite of your videos, despite all of the sadness and hate in JB's life story. I hope behind her beautiful smile she also experienced moments of true happiness.

There are no words that adequately express my admiration for your gift of story telling. Obviously you put in the work researching and sourcing photos and film to complete these outstanding documentaries. A few weeks ago, another commenter likened you to Ken Burns and I whole heartedly agree with that assessment. I’ve said it before, your work belongs on PBS! Again you have moved me to tears this time with a respectful and overdue biopic on this wonderful lady. Thank you and congratulations on a job well done. 💐

It means a lot to hear that; as I know these videos aren't super popular on youtube, as women's biographies are a small niche, but I'm really glad we can share them.

I really enjoyed and appreciated your excellent portrayal of a "phenomenal and extraordinary," woman and entertainer, Ms. Josephine Baker. Another beautifully written biography. Your style and narration draws in the listener with captivating threads of these fascinating lives. You are a natural storyteller able to describe great difficulties and heartbreak in these lives with extraordinary empathy in addition to their triumphs and joys. Threads woven to be informative, understanding, inspiring, self-reflective. These biographies serve to open and expand our hearts, to consider others, not judge. Like others that have commented I thought I knew the basics of Josephine Baker - not even close. I’ve been inspired by your videos to purchase audiobooks to further learn about these fascinating lives having just added “Fearless and Free; A Memoir” (avail 2.25 on Audible) to my list. Another unsung hero. This Army and Stay wouldn’t have had an interest were it not for you. Thank you! 😊

Thank you so much, you might want to avoid the next two, as they are just short biographies of women who don't really have anything on them, as some people like hearing the stories of unknown women, but I wouldn't call either of the stories inspirational. However in two weeks, there will be another hour long video on Jennie Jerome (Winston Churchill's mother) Which you should enjoy. (I also enjoy those ones the most)

Another amazing woman and amazing story. Did your research very well and with respect. So many photos that bring back to life Josephine Baker. I must admit I heard the name, but again like with Mata Hari, I had absolutely no idea who she was. The first part of your video, I was about to cry; her mom Carrie, was awful, her life of poverty so depressing a real "rags to riches' story. Your words describing her "unstoppable spirit" describes her best. That woman had so much energy, she developed her talent because she knew what she could do to get ahead in life. She gave it her all, she was loved at a time when it was the hardest due to civil unrest. She would be so happy and proud to see our new USA President in less than a month away.
You have to love the French people and culture that embraced Josephine, never to late President Macron's tribute naming Josephine Baker Day Nov 2021 outstanding. Her 12 babies she loved so dearly "The Rainbow Tribe" I wonder what ever happened to them (?) I hope life was good to each one. So sad she lost her Chateau, broke my heart. Death at 68, still young (my mom lived till 94 similar death). Thank you for posting her Bio and appreciate all the work you put in to describe a remarkable woman, time should never forget. RIP Josephine Baker ✝❤💐

Being a Cherokee kid growing up on the wrong side of the tracks, reading biographies lifted me up and gave me hope.
Josephine Baker is one of those biographies that I loved because of she could attain her lofty place, why couldn't I? Don't get me wrong, Sitting Bull, Sequoyah, Jay Silverheels, and other Natives were there too. But, there was something about Josephine Baker's story that caught my attention. She was quite amazing and clearly so intelligent.
I first read about her in an Encyclopedia Britannica article about her life as a 10-year-old Cherokee boy. That she became a spy really hot my juices flowing and, like every other guy in my Native family, I expected to serve in the military and did only 7 years later.
What a triumph as a human being she was! I still appreciate Josephine Baker.

Not the happiest of endings for some; others had a good life. After Josephine's death in 1975, the fate of her adopted children varied. Some went on to live relatively private lives, while others remained more connected to Josephine’s legacy. They were raised with a strong sense of their mother’s humanitarian values, though her absence (due to her frequent touring) and the chaotic environment at the château led to a less-than-ideal upbringing. Several of the children have spoken in interviews about how difficult it was to live up to Josephine's expectations and to reconcile their unusual upbringing.
