    Being a Cherokee kid growing up on the wrong side of the tracks, reading biographies lifted me up and gave me hope. Josephine Baker is one of those biographies that I loved because of she could attain her lofty place, why couldn't I? Don't get me wrong, Sitting Bull, Sequoyah, Jay Silverheels, and other Natives were there too. But, there was something about Josephine Baker's story that caught my attention. She was quite amazing and clearly so intelligent. I first read about her in an Encyclopedia Britannica article about her life as a 10-year-old Cherokee boy. That she became a spy really hot my juices flowing and, like every other guy in my Native family, I expected to serve in the military and did only 7 years later. What a triumph as a human being she was! I still appreciate Josephine Baker.

    Maybe had someone disciplined her when she said she wouldn’t board the boat if her teddy bears couldn’t go, they would have saved her heartache and humiliation later in life. Discipline and correction must start early if it’s to have any effect. You don’t begin discipline and correction at 15-16 yo and expect it to do anything except make them rebel against them that much more.

    Please note: The bomb wasn't associated with the IRA, it was assumed and (USA Media wouldn't know better, nor bother to update records if/when they found out), but years later, British Intelligence admitted this. (Not something one would discover without more indepth research, or knowing to look for it.) A great example of both Media and History having inaccuracies and leaving them there because theres no responsible valudation/corrections/updating procedures, and wuestionable ethics in the Mainstream Genre's. The IRA always claimed their actions, each action had a purpose, and they always contended they never had anything ti do with that disaster. It was done by inside Britain because they did not want to change the name of the Queen or her children from Windsor to Montbatten. (Theres much behind this that had to do with power of the Monarch and fear of losing the Monarchy). It is a subject on its own accord, but not for a Social History Channel. It is a subject with tentacles and they are not for Mainstream. Talk about censoring. If one looks beyond a general search or Wikipedia, the resource will emerge. Byron merely lived his desires without regret. That is actually what we came to do. This in no manner infers that we should not be responsible parents. It is best pursue our dreams while being honest with those that are our prospective partners. Bryon lived in a time with Social rules and expectations that foster the Lower Mind and a fair bit of manipulation of others. No doubt she shared her Dad's zest for experiencing life. Her illness the result of her inner fears ... for all is a result of our: "Thoughts + Feelings X Beliefs" = Our Frequency = Our Reality The "Universal Law of Attraction" is Absolute. Not knowing gave her a continued hope. Upon emerging into Nonphysical, she no doubt was washed in Joy of Divine Love.

    I suggest her trama came more from her Victim experiences of her, Covert, Narcissist Personality Disorder, Husband, (covert NPD is what I define as a Sociopath, although those who wrote the DSM VI descriptions doesn't separate Overt from Covert, their very defining of NPD actually does, but I digress). Their planning, gaslighting, cold manipulations, all reflect consciously hiding theur known traits. Emotional Abuse is far more lingering that physical and sexual. She perhaps was self absorbed, but that is not NPD. The images of Margaret may not have been Margaret. Margaret was truly naive to the reality and, had she had an Advisor with credentials she trusted, the outcome would have been far different. Statements from his past wives and mistresses could have saved her $50,000. An accounting of the funds she and her father put into the Duke's inherited Home/Property should have presented a clear message as to intentions abused by the Duke. Ian was such an easily diagnosable Toxic and Sadistic Individual, a nonbiased Psychiatrist could also have served her court needs well. Note: Narcissist Personality Disorder was not an available diagnosis until the 1990's., and it remains grissly under clarified, the "Cluster B Disorders" quite confusing ti Professionals and certainly to a lay person Beth Bartlett Sociologist/Behavioralist and Historian

    Fascinating. Never heard of Sylvia Ashley (or Hawkes) before. Although born to commoners, she certainly was driven to lift herself into the stratosphere of high society. She kind of reminds me of Truman Capote's swans, constantly moving up in society via marriage. The most obvious example would be Her Serene Highness Princess Caroline (Lee) Radziwiłł.

    Good grief. The words do not match reality. Firstly, when speaking of womens right to get a college degree, the video shows women from about 1890s-1900,hardly Sylvia time. Now I am hearing "clingy low cut wedding dress? Are we seeing the same picture? The dress is a typical 1920s style, straight cut. Clingy dresses only came into fashion in the late 20s/30s. Not to mention it is hardly low cut.

    • @TheFinalBoss316
      @TheFinalBoss316 22 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Two points the dress was not the typical style of the British Aristocracy in 1927.The aristocracy, influenced by high society trends and designers such as Coco Chanel and Jean Patou, began to embrace more relaxed and modern styles around 1929; Wedding dresses from this period often featured dropped waists, straight silhouettes, and less restrictive bodices, making them more comfortable and reflecting the modern, liberated woman. I understand when looking back how decades can roll together, but this dress was not favored by the aristocracy in 1927; and would indeed have caused a stir in those circles. Secondly, Sylvia was born in 1904; most universities did not start giving full degrees to women until the 1940s; While Oxford and London University did offer a degree to women before that, it would not have been available to women of the lower classes. They could work as seamstresses, or in factories, and there was domestic work also available. But there was a high level of female unemployment after the war, as while women took many of the jobs in world war 1, when the war ended the jobs went back to men. In 1921, there was a general unemployment rate of around 17% across England and Wales. Women's unemployment was disproportionately higher, especially in industries like textiles and domestic service. Many women were employed in casual or part-time work, which did not always count in official unemployment statistics, making the situation seem better on paper than it was in reality. The country itself was in a real period of economic instability , Social attitudes toward women's employment also contributed to female unemployment. There was a widespread belief that jobs should be reserved for men. Married women especially were discouraged from working outside the home. In some cases, women were legally prevented from working in certain professions, and even when they were allowed, they faced wage discrimination and barriers to advancement. I love this channel and these videos. They are beautifully done and informative; as a historian myself, I greatly admire the accuracy and research of these videos.
