hell yeah, i´ve been waiting for this video since you announced it =) so much great stuff, hot dogs, arcades, great people all in "sweet home chicago" ^_^
I jammed that like button so hard, I broke my mouse! I've been with Gregg and the crew now for a little over 2 years. I'm in the new intro and I've done filming for Gregg on and off, as well as helped with some of the editing. :) Was great hanging with you that day! Look forward to more wacky adventures!
Love seeing those new arcades. You don't get nostalgia for the games, but that feeling of exploring all the new stuff & seeing what ideas and tech they've come up with, being blown away seeing something for the first time, that's exactly how I remember arcades back in their heyday. Back then I was never interested in the old stuff gathering dust in the corner.
I love it as John's saying "Greg's such a great guy" as he is crumpling up his picture and pitching it in the trash...John you are such a hoot!! Love your vids they are so addicting!
Thanks for coming John! Great to see you again. FYI, I've decided to keep & restore Food Fight...wife wants me to get it done and in the arcade. Happy wife = happy life.
That was your chance to get your Baby Pac Man back. Well there is always next time. Anyway great video. Kept me into it the whole way through. Very interesting these road trips you do. So informative and just raw. I like it.
Awesome seeing my home city. Did you ever go to Aladdin's Castle? I want to say it was in Arlington Heights, but I can't remember. Use to have my birthday parties there, awesome time!
Another fantastic video, John. It's nice to see that there are still some newer titles that I've never heard of, out there. After all, the closest arcades I've got is a local one and two mini putt-putt places that are about a three hour drive, each. Both of which are packed out with ticket redemption. (Though, I did sneak a camera in on my trip to one, just to show how many crazy tickets I could earn for a $20. Just never edited it all together.) And, the local is actually a game room inside a theater. Big enough that they could probably remodel it into another movie screen and make more profit. If I had the ability to create a home arcade, I would have been ready to take the cross country trip to snatch up that pac pinball. Only seen one in real life. And, that's an interesting history on your handle. I always kind of figured it was a cross between a favorite pet and one of those internet deals that tacks on numbers when a handle is already taken. Guess I got a question to ask, now. Do you ever envision a need to use sneak cameras for your filming? After all, some people and places get weird about these images that can be shared. And, with the ever approaching future, it's all growing rather stupid, since the all seeing eyes are practically everywhere and can be made in such tiny forms. I mean, what are they going to do, once technology starts syncing into the Human brain and one can probably start making TH-cam videos off of their own memories? Good point about tube technology. At least, some of that stuff is really built to last. I know that my old Commodore monitor can still fire up to this day, crystal clear and ready to go in under 30 seconds. Think any hobby independent could ever afford to revive a factory for making outdated tubes? Or, that there's enough of a nitche market to support such an effort? And, it's nice to know your reasons for avoiding LCD's. I never thought about the ways it distorts the pure signal. Only the ease of replacement and the ultra low electricity consumption quotes.
John just got done watching the video, hilarious!!!.One of your best videos on the road yet.All your videos are great but this one had me laughing all the way to the end.I'm a vodka drinker myself so i'm going to check out Titos since you had it on the show a couple of times.Once again i hope you can make it to arcade expo in Banniing California.
I missed out on the Tweetup! I will definitely make an effort next time, John! I'm glad you were able to come to Chicago for a short while. Next time - hot dogs on me. No eye contact though.
Sadly here in Australia during the 80's most of our Cabs were not dedicated other than say Space Invaders, Asteroids. All the others were in generic Cabs that were just rebadged ie marquee at best, as they put the next latest game in
they closed the one in grapevine TX, didnt know they got bought out by a private investor. now all we have is DnB and ITz. and a celebration station (putt putt). if i have to goto another 'family fun center' im moving to london.
John, you like chicago hot dogs? Next time your in the Boston area, go to Windy City Eats in Weymouth. The guy that owns it is from Chicago and the only one in New England that sells Vienna Beef hot dogs. He even has Chicago sports teams hanging up (much to my dismay):p I think the Phantom gourmet said its the best hot dog joint in all of New England. If you go, go to the one in Weymouth, don't bother with the one in Norwell, MA (he's expanding) and I think they are closed on Mondays. BTW, anyone that asks for ketchup on their dog, gets shown the door. lol
Awesome Video John! Really like the this video with you and Greg from arcade impossible rally enjoyed it. Can't wait for part 2. If i had been with you at Greg's arcade i would have personally grabbed the Food Fight. One question John are the 3 Windshield wipers common for your model of Jeep? Cause I didn't that vehicles came with 3 wipers for the Windshield. Again another amazing video cant wait for the next.
There are definitely still Star Wars Trilogy Arcades on location. My local arcade (the one that recently got some new Raw Thrills stuff) has one working with sound issues.
John! Love your videos. I'm a long time subscriber. I cant wait for your videos to hit each week. Those 2 and half hour long tech videos? I watch every single minute. Cant get enough!. With that being said Ive noticed a ..new?.. trend when you're doing the intro to your videos. You give everything away that's going to happen! Maybe I just like suprises. During the Journey restore on one video at the beginning you said "today we get the tape player working!' I'm like awww fuck! Dont spoil it! lol Anyway, thats my one and only critique. Dont give everything away :) Other than that please keep on doing what you're doing. Especially the tech videos. Love every one. Thanks homie.
It's funny you said this. I actually was having second thoughts after I recorded the intro telling everything we were gonna do. I think you're right. I shouldn't do that. :)
Hej John great video! Any word about when you gonna visit todd tuckey? :) Looking forward for it! Like your long videos and all the visits! Hope to have a andyace arcade in da future back here in sweden! Take care! :)
John my name is lance jackson and you're videos are awesome you know I thought about working in a arcade because I love classic arcade games and Mario pac man and donkey Kong and galga and frogger and pole position are one of my favorite arcade games but keep up the great work man
I am really anxious to hear about your experience at Galloping Ghost, John. Your tone in this video didn't sound super positive. Do you have a sneak preview? :)
Hey John! Did you get any new parts or games while in Chicago? also this is Bleedingsouls on your forum as well :D Got my Mortal Kombat working now I'm gonna order some new buttons and clean it up, likely paint it and go for the original look of the MK cabinet
Awesome video! Pro bad the weather was so crappy, is it me John? Or,is that a new-handle of Titos you have there on the table? 😜. I could swear the last one was almost empty 😃. No need to reply, I already listened to that other guys email about drinking, what a DOOSH he sounded like 😃
The driving segments of these videos have always been interesting. I can only imagine how long the video might of been if John filmed the entire duration of the drive. Judging the day to night transitions, I can only guess that he lives in the east coast.
Hey John another awesome video , I have to say I agree with you 100% about the lcd monitors I have some games myself and I have a multicade that had a lcd when I got it well recently I put a crt monitor in It and it makes a world of difference like I knew it would alot of people swear by lcd I hate them and will try not to use it if I don't have to the quality is so much better with the crt monitors in them
Great deals on the cabs guys. I would love to have that Baby Pac-Man. I just checked the distance between New England and Chicago on google maps... Wow! More than 2000 miles round trip! I moan when I have to drive more than 300 miles in the UK. You definitely earned that drink John.
How does John know exactly whats going to happen on his trip to Chicago BEFORE he takes the trip? I think John must store a delorean in his garage when he isn't fixing arcades! GREAT SCOTT!

Aladdin's Castle shot out. First arcade I ever went to as a kid followed by TILT. Both of which are long long gone.
hell yeah, i´ve been waiting for this video since you announced it =) so much great stuff, hot dogs, arcades, great people all in "sweet home chicago" ^_^
These videos are simply amazing. Hands down the best channel on TH-cam. Thanks John for taking the time to put these together. THANK YOU!!!
Thanks, buddy! :)
What a Great Trip !!!! the visit of the flux-capacitor arcade was awesome...once again, love the viewer mail....
I jammed that like button so hard, I broke my mouse! I've been with Gregg and the crew now for a little over 2 years. tjkitsune Who are you? ;)
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech The guy who's going to hire Nguyen to...uh....do your laundry?
One of John's best. Really enough great material for 2 or 3 great videos.
Thanks, pal!
Love seeing those new arcades. John needs to keep his basement tidy! :)
Love it!! Keep up the great work!
John, you need to come to Detroit and have a Coney Dog
Thanks for coming John! Great to see you again. FYI, I've decided to keep & restore Food Fight...wife wants me to get it done and in the arcade. Happy wife = happy life.
I love your videos and your friendship with Greg. You are so inspirational on Arcade Outsiders;thank you.
It's hilarious how John films EVERYTHING... Going in the bathroom, checking out at target.. LOL. Very enjoyable video.. Keep em coming :)
I have also watched the Journey Video several times. They are just a great watch.
Great job John, all the things you're doing keep me riveted for the hour and a half. Thanks!
That was your chance to get your Baby Pac Man back. Well there is always next time. Anyway great video. Kept me into it the whole way through. Very interesting these road trips you do. So informative and just raw. I like it.
Great video John, nice to see Greg and the boys again!
I have to say this was my favorite video-cation I have saw so far.
Also, there used to be a Gameworks in my local mall but it got closed down back in 2010.
Awesome stuff mate, love the FluxCapacitorArcade too, great set up there...
Awesome seeing my home city. Did you ever go to Aladdin's Castle? I want to say it was in Arlington Heights, but I can't remember. Use to have my birthday parties there, awesome time!
Don't do it Greg!! It's always that first pin that starts the addiction... Soon the arcade games will be sold to make room for pinballs. Great vid!
The deal made in the snow is my favorite part of any video... Epic!
Another fantastic video, John.

Great video as always, John. Good friends, great food and you HAVE to buy that Baby Pac from Greg. Looked like it was a blast!
As always John awesome video. Dude that hotdog looked delicious yummy :)
Have you ever thought that those little kids, when they are in their 40s will be collecting all those new games.
Great prices on those games! Everything is outrageous here in LA.
Galaxy World in Carol Stream is closed? Ah that sucks! That was a trip I used to take in highschool from Oak Park.
EZ Does It Yeah, I LOVED that place!
I used to work at the Brunswick Zone XL in Naperville IL. It was one of the Galaxy world/Gala Lanes locations. Don't bother going.
I missed out on the Tweetup! I will definitely make an effort next time, John! I'm glad you were able to come to Chicago for a short while. Next time - hot dogs on me. No eye contact though.
Oh Jesus, too much arcade awesomeness in one video for me. I need a lie down. Fun vid though guys, just subbed.
You always meet up with Greg when its snowing, and hitting areas around were I work.
That ms pacman neon sign is SICK I would love to get one of those for my game room

What's your handle on KLOV? I'm in next year.

I've got to come over and see you guys
I am really anxious to hear about your experience at Galloping Ghost, John. Your tone in this video didn't sound super positive. Do you have a sneak preview? :)
What was the present Greg gave you in the target parking lot??......... O_o
Looked like they had some cool newer games at that arcade, your friend got a good deal for that stuff he bought.
You went all the way out to Hoffman Estates and didn't visit Underground Retrocade?
Sure wish I would've joined you guys at Gameworks and spoke arcade shop conversations. :-( but had to work and other things went on.
Great vid John
maybe you can make a video about fixing monitors and and the problems you have fix .
I think I have done this. No?!?
I have never seen a stand up Star War ,only a boot back in the 85
When are you gonna finish restoring 720?
Gameworks is actually close to my grandparents’ house.
Hey John! Did you get any new parts or games while in Chicago? also this is Bleedingsouls on your forum as well :D Got my Mortal Kombat working now I'm gonna order some new buttons and clean it up, likely paint it and go for the original look of the MK cabinet
Bleedingsouls18 I did actually. I got a Millipede control panel from Joe Magiera. I am using the track ball and buttons on my Quantum.
I hope you told Greg to get his finger out, and get some more of his videos finished, and uploaded ;-)
Watching this vid made me want to go on a hot dog/fries eating binge. I've been at it for one week! :)) Hope to visit Gene's and Jude's one day.
Awesome video! Pro bad the weather was so crappy, is it me John? Or,is that a new-handle of Titos you have there on the table? 😜. I could swear the last one was almost empty 😃. No need to reply, I already listened to that other guys email about drinking, what a DOOSH he sounded like 😃
It might be another bottle. Dunno. :)
John your laugh is brilliant i think im actually jealous of it
Thanks, Yancade! :)
So are you still going to post the Galloping Ghost video or have you decided not to after you talked them down on Arcade Outsiders?
no, it will be up this weekend.
HI John! A quick question, have you ever played or considering owning a Sega Time Traveler?
Or The Last Starfighter?
this was a very enjoyable watch but those hot dogs made me feel extremely hungry, dammit! top video and catchy music too.
The driving segments of these videos have always been interesting. I can only imagine how long the video might of been if John filmed the entire duration of the drive. Judging the day to night transitions, I can only guess that he lives in the east coast.
It would be about 16 hours of footage. :)
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech Dang!, I'll go insane if had to be on the road that long.
Common guys let's Support JOHNS band. He has awesome videos and really good music. Let's do this!!!
I like this idea. :) Buy the CD on iTunes or Amazon and leave reviews! Reviews are good. :) Thanks!! LOL!
Hey John another awesome video , I have to say I agree with you 100% about the lcd monitors I have some games myself and I have a multicade that had a lcd when I got it well recently I put a crt monitor in It and it makes a world of difference like I knew it would alot of people swear by lcd I hate them and will try not to use it if I don't have to the quality is so much better with the crt monitors in them
58:00 John starts the burn train XD
Damn... I wanna buy this guy's Berzerk! :) Will check out Gene and Jude's!!
Gene and Jude's better than Superdawg or Hot Doug's (now closed)? Love sport peppers.
Tim Vermeulen Yes, no question. Gene and Judes is better than Superdawg. Superdawg does have a cool hot dog man on its roof, though. :)
I need my johns arcade video fix :}
Love the vid's John keep it up.
Great deals on the cabs guys. I would love to have that Baby Pac-Man. I just checked the distance between New England and Chicago on google maps... Wow! More than 2000 miles round trip! I moan when I have to drive more than 300 miles in the UK. You definitely earned that drink John.
Yeah, can't believe John drove 2000 miles to a parking lot and then the local guys made him drive them around.
theorgandude That's my fault. I like to be the "driver". :) I'm not a good passenger.
My two favorite Arcade TH-camrs back together again. (Tom-acbl)
Thanks for answering my question man
How does John know exactly whats going to happen on his trip to Chicago BEFORE he takes the trip? I think John must store a delorean in his garage when he isn't fixing arcades! GREAT SCOTT!
I'm pretty sure he films the beginning after he's done filming the rest of the video.
JosiahMKP Yep, I figured... Was just making a little back to the future joke because it was a theme in the game room they visited.
Wow the first place was sweeeeeet!
1:12 " I've got something for you"
Sounds like a gift to me ; )
Only joking I know Greg will sort you out
Hey John you keep going on about owning Mario kart machine instead of restoring a old machine when not convert a old ridge racer or Daytona into one ?
I love looking at all these cabinets but i cant aforrd this hobby so why i have to get them on on mame or complitions on home consoles. If i afford one arcade cabinet it would defintly be Gradius 3 i like that game alot I like yopur show because you make it simple and staight to the point .I wish i had freinds who had their own aecade or even had an arcade where i live cause i iheve been intrested in video games for mot of my 40 yhears ive been living thanks for your time and keep reviewing
shaun cowman Thanks, Shaun! Thanks for watching.
I completely agree with you john, the real gamer loves the pure,old-school,scanlined,low-res experience crt cabinet! Hd ready monitor and upper res are good for the console from360 ,ps3 ,wii-u,one,ps4 and pc.
4k or 8k image are beautiful with a 4crossfired pc...but we 're felt in love with the original crt-effect,it's not nostalgia,it is silply the need for perfection , just like they were made.
man what a crazy video! I still enjoyed it though, man... Here's hoping the gameworks guys don't find out about this video huh?? :P
As for my Holy Grail game, I guess that depends on whether we're talking classic or newer games... classic I would probably want either Black Dragon/Tiger (old fantasy-style action platform game with some seriously tricky jumps and tough enemies to fight) or Pyros/Wardner. (A similar kind of game, but different in its own ways!)
As for newer stuff it's gotta be a beatmania IIDX cabinet (similar to the one in the Singapore video from a few weeks back) ... the PS2 versions are fun and all but nothing compares to the real arcade version, and that bone rattling subwoofer!
man these hotdogs look amazing
I want Baby Pac and Granny and her Gators!!
Gene & Jude’s makes me wish I loved in America, specifically Chicago
Too bad the weather was so bad.
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech what is your opinion on the claw machine TH-camrs (The ones that video record claw games and call ticket games "arcade games") , do you hate them or like them ??? Great video btw, Gameworks looks like a AWESOME arcade to go to.
Jdevy I actually think those claw machine videos are fun to watch. I like them! :)
That's sick dude.
Do you live in IL? : )
He used to when he was a kid, but not anymore.
What the hell its weird seeing you here lol, I love this channel
Awesome.
Yesssss
Great video,, Jon + Arcade Impossible+ Flux Capacitor Arcade +Gameworks tweet-up,,this was awesome... sadly i couldn't make it!!! That place is pretty kool... I'am thinking "GameworksFest" annual event,,maybe this can happen??? I'll be there next year dude...
What about best Italian Beefs around Chicago?
Gene and Jude's is in River Grove...River Forest is further south east
Luke's has great Italian beef. Lou malnatis deep dish pizza is my favorite.
John man get some ticket games for yo friends
Wow, Greg scored big on this. I'm with Jow on this one, living in California, all that would have cost at least $3000, if not more!
I would of made it out to Gameworks if I wasn't stuck at work that day.
Those are low carb French fries right?
amplibax8 I wish. :)
Winn looked three sheets to the winn😁
Nguyen
john on the road are my fave vids just awesome
And holy crap you past by my work!
Triple windshield wipers!!!
No vid that is week D:
My Sunday video is uploading now. Should be up EARLY Monday morning.
Omg a baby pac working for $400 that's a dream game I would want for that price without a thought hella great deal
It was a great deal. GregBL is cool.
45:00 that hot dog place sounds like the soup nazi from seinfeid. "you want ketchup on hot dog? NO HOT DOG FOR YOU!"
Video will not play for me!!!!
How did you find the video? It's not live yet! :)
