I said it before, I'll say it again - John's Arcade is the best channel on TH-cam! Thanks, John, for all the hours of awesomeness! BTW, the longer the videos, the better. I'd rather watch them than most any movie. Have a blessed and prosperous new year!
Brilliant video John.....i love the way you are slowly evolving your channel.Me and my family really enjoy watching you (usually on a Sunday evening). I have a seven year old son who thinks arcades are wonderful places (remember that feeling?? ;) Keep up the good work !
John, I gotta tell you, the part where you show how to get through the high jump on TAF has helped me sooooooo much ! And I suspect that many other people who were struggling in that part of the game will too. A million thanks for that. Now I've got to go and apply this new knowledge playing MAME. Maybe you should do some dedicated "how to best play those awesome games" videos ? I don't know... Anyway, I really enjoy the "new format", you know, you in front of the camera now, the wobbly table, the drinks, the self-cameraman, the jam-packed fun ! Your videos are getting better all the time. Happy Holidays to you and your family and friends !
Damn fine video John, Loved it from beginning to end. Sad it had to end, I was have a great time the whole way. You are on to something here. Keep it coming. We Love it.
Hurray for party and for nice "clean" Fun johny i love the music that is played in this episode (and at the start in particular) its so cool to hear a nice song with this mix of those "arcade" electronic sounds :)
John this Jam packed video of yours was so sick! the private arcade, the game play demo, the mail , and the showing of your most recent pick up Jump Bug. Keep up the awesome work on the videos. Oh and p.s. yes I think almost a video a day if you have the time would be very awesome I would definetly watch all those videos.
Hey john! As soon as you explained how to play track and field i finally got to the end! I did it before, but i didnt really know what i was doing... so thank you!
This is one of the places I was going to tell you to visit when you came out here. Oh well, glad you made it! Can't wait to sit down and go through this video.
Great vid as always. I'm desperatly waiting on new vids! Hope that you release à lot of new ones the upcoming days. Continue the great work John. Happy new Year from the Netherlands.
I can see how some people would be shocked coming from your youtube channel to your podcasts. I did it the other way around, love VGO came to the channel and saw a nice tame Jon. Lol, I am still waiting one day for you to get hammered and bust out a guitar on your youtube channel. Anyhow, anything you do is entertaining as hell. Merry Xmas!
Really Johnny, you should let people talk. It makes me totally freaking out when people interrupt me but this is a another quality. I realize that behavior get lost in the last 20 years....you ask people please not to interrupt and they dont even get what you mean....
You should definitely do a video every day. All my TV shows are on hiatus now for the holidays, and a lot of my podcasts are too, so I could use some good entertainment.
great video as usual, also love your arcade outsiders podcast and it´s funny how people are always complaining that you guys aren´t talking about arcadestuff all the time :D anyway i´m looking forward to your daily videos at chrismas time ;)
Another great video !!!! the 2084 arcade is so cool... The Ghost'n Goblins is in fact a dedicated...i have the same one, amazing cabinet, and i love the game. Con gratulation on the Rock Ola....never heard about the game...will have to check it out on Mame... John....Merry Christmas !!!!
Love the jam packed show, makes it like an old 80's Saturday morning show, all you're missing is some Centurions, Transformers or M.A.S.K. ;) Looking forward to loadsa vids, but a show of the same quality as this one, I'd be happy with one a week. The new format is good, the viewer mail rocks bigtime... Merry Christmas to you and yours mate...
John, Merry Christmas. Thanks for all the tips through the years. I wonder how many games you've helped save? Thanks again for helping me through mine.
John I love your enthusiasm. 2084 should charge a membership to belong and upkeep of the machines kind of like a gym membership. Those teenage 80's Gen-X'er arcade games keep the mind and reflexes sharp.
Only just discovered your videos John. Was really impressed. Would love to start up a basement like yours, but it probably will never happen unless I separated from my wife. She tolerates my PC gaming (Once my study shelves were full of games I went to Steam and am the number 1 Steam guy in the UK with approaching 8000 games in my main Steam account). I will be watching your videos from now on assuming you are still doing them. This my first look was recorded over 2 years ago. Keep up the fantastic work. Regards Whiterabbit-uk
Great video john Bandido looks really cool and that's the first time I've seen it in a video. The joy stick and 8 way knob is different to my sheriff and the art work . It's looks completely different but still very very cool. If I didn't have a sheriff I would own that. Did you have ago ?
Hi John, I would like to start by wishing you and yours a very happy Christmas all the way from Ireland :) I really like your viewers corner and the e-mails you read out :) and I find your answers educational. I had to put my projects on hold for a while because I broke my hand two days ago showing my 10 year old daughter some old tricks I knew when I was much younger on her skateboard :( but hopefully early next year I can start up again. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your next video :)
Wow I didn't know you could use a regular tv set tube for an arcade cabinet.. I wanna do a mame arcade machine so I was wondering if there is a way I can use a regular crt tv and somehow connect it to the VGA output of the computer. I know they have VGA to RCA or S Video converters but the picture looks horrible. Any ideas guys?
Actually, the way John finds the time to do all of this stuff is that he is the first successful human clone. There are two of him doing things at any given time. :)
Yeah I agree. Its all over youtube. Every buddy's videos have a couple dislikes and it just confuses me. I heard overall its better than not liking it kinda like bad publicity is better than no publicity.
Hi john,in Italy the arcade is almost completely dead but if you come to Venice (Venezia) I'll be honoured to be be your guide for a not so standard tour! As usual great job John , your channel is my favourite
On T&F, the long jump, you want to get a 42 on the line. I can't remember if you have to hit the line twice in a row or not but this will max your jump out at a 9.72. On the hammer throw I used to never look at the speed bar. I just listened to the swings and on the 9th swing I went for it. You want to get a 45 down the side lines. If you do this on the 1st side line or the right side then you usually get a 99.XX. If you get a 45 on the let side line then you could max out the throw at a 99.99 and possibly throw it over 100.00. However, it won't register over 100 but will give you like a .44 or so. I used to play T&F all the time back in 1984. I also think the correct angle for the Javelin is 42 and it's possible to throw it over 100 as well.
Thanks for the T&F tips on the high jump. That part has mystified me forever. I have Groovy Game Gear micro switches on my MAME cab, but I'm wondering if the keystrokes are impossible to register fast enough to match the actual arcade because I can't come close to matching the speeds people seem to get on the events. I know leaf switches would be better, but whatever. Also, it seems MAME doesn't require you to go back and forth between the run buttons like the arcade. In MAME, I do much better by hitting one run button or both run buttons simultaneously.
Epic private arcade man thanks for taking us along. Question on the rest stop Medieval Madness, i grew up in Mass and live currently in RI, is it in one of the 24 hr stops on the pike? I gotta see this thing man haha
Congrats on getting your first Rock-Ola cabinet. I've got an Eyes and Warp-Warp that I need to restore. It's interesting that Rock-Ola changed up the instructions on their games. Like you pointed out, Jump Bug has the instructions on the CPO, while games like Eyes have it on the marquee itself. Anyway, enjoy the game! Also, does that Warp-Warp marquee have a big crack in it? I was going to say that I'm looking for a Warp-Warp marquee if you want to sell it. Have fun with the game! -jimbodeanny
Hello John, I have a question, I recently bought a crisis zone and I can hear the fan from the back also the monitors color is off what can be done about that? Also I love your show great videos!
I always thought to get the best T&F a speeds you had to alternate between left/right run buttons. Are you saying Hector literally uses just one button and it's not the alternating back/forth that's required?
googleboughtmee if i recall, there was a trick you could do with a quarter....something about putting it on the run buttons? i'd need to ask a friend of mine about it, but he also remembers the trick very well.
you were talking about mame I've got a raspberry pi3 with picade joystick and bought a 32 gb memory card off a guy on eBay and been told there are thousands of games on it but haven't had time to set it up yet
This is the EXACT one: www.samash.com/micro-galaxian-laser-amicrogal?cm_mmc=GoogleShopping-_-DJ%20/%20Lighting-_-Channeladvisor-_-American+DJ+Micro+Galaxian+Laser&GSH&CSE&Channeladvisor&CAWELAID=1594687984&CAGPSPN=pla&catargetid=500002510000028166&cadevice=c&gclid=Cj0KEQiAzvmkBRCm3ZbV-4-hwrYBEiQAgLOw61fZtUkp0KXji2_5npxZZ2Ewcx-ujtBIKG8EVT3WrFMaAomi8P8HAQ
Hay John i had a Nintendo monitor was starting to turn more red than blue or green, not long after that red just stop working . i panic and zap the red gun and just made it weaker arggg i didn't kill it thank god ,, i recap the chassis with the full size cap kit and Bam red was back and everything was normal , Lesson learn cap`s can affect color :)
Oh.. I used to play this a lot in my youth, I had the highest jump for years and never used the run buttons. Could you at least try without running to see?
Undisclosed no longer! it's at 520 S Claudina St, Unit C Anaheim, CA 92805. Check the facebook page to see when they are open. facebook.com/groups/794018783964264/
Maybe if that 2084 guy had taken his own advice and not had coin-op machines, but instead did a flat entry fee, this place would still be open. I'm not a fan, at all, of "private arcades" .. but I'm bummed to see an arcade have to shut down.
John, yes it's true...I f'king hate you ;) Now I really want to play those games and it's because of you I started to plan (in SKetchUp) and, in the near future, build an MAME "lowboy cabinet" just for playing those old games. My girlfriend is a bit skeptical about it how many times I will l play on it, but that's fine I will proof her wrong :p I have one question: what is you opinion in how to place/mount the monitor? Should I place the monitor (yes, it's an CRT) in a horizontal or vertical position? I'm using my old 22" IIyama so its a bit to heavy to make it adjustable (a rotating mechanism) for every game. Thank You for the video's, I love to watch them and as always: keep up the good (video) work. A Merry X-mas and a Happy New Year to you and the rest of the family.
And a John already knows the answer but still asks the person....wtf?!(and even when he has never "seen one of those b4" somehow he kinda remembers playing it somewhere..Comedy for sure...
Fly, people are saying that hitting the run buttons during the high jump and after you throw the javelin, etc. doesn't help. Is that true??? Maybe we can do a SKYPE video together and discuss some strategies? :)
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech Hitting run during the Long Jump does nothing. It helps on the Javelin. Hard to notice but it helps. Nothing on Hammer. and it totally helps on the High Jump. I've heard 2.45 on HJ is possible without hitting run. I've only tried a couple times but it seemed very hard at 2.41-2.42. Hitting run I can do 2.51.
I said it before, I'll say it again - John's Arcade is the best channel on TH-cam! Thanks, John, for all the hours of awesomeness! BTW, the longer the videos, the better. I'd rather watch them than most any movie. Have a blessed and prosperous new year!

Bandido looks really cool and that's the first time I've seen it in a video.

It's looks completely different but still very very cool.
If I didn't have a sheriff I would own that.
Did you have ago ?
I'm a bit behind watching your videos. Another great video. Thanks for making it.

"...I love Rub..." this made me lol. It is weird how its Rub and not Del on some games. :)
The Kill Screens!!!
Love it!
Actually, the way John finds the time to do all of this stuff is that he is the first successful human clone. There are two of him doing things at any given time. :)
The TV got a medium resolution-tube?
you are so great i am look for a pinball game keep rockin on
I never understand how folk can dislike your videos, idiots. Great vid as always man
Beaps73 Thanks, Beaps. I think I have a hater or two that just dislikes every video the minute it is released. I don't get it! :)
Yeah I agree. Its all over youtube. Every buddy's videos have a couple dislikes and it just confuses me. I heard overall its better than not liking it kinda like bad publicity is better than no publicity.
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech That seems to be the way it goes now. Rock on John!
marshimaroo propbably someone from isis disliked it
TracknField why are you button mashing after you have already thrown the javelin ?
Hi john,in Italy the arcade is almost completely dead but if you come to Venice (Venezia) I'll be honoured to be be your guide for a not so standard tour! As usual great job John , your channel is my favourite
retrodavide Dude, I would die if I went to Italy. I'm 50% Italian and going to Venice is a dream. Some day...
Common fly John out there and show him the town😁 They we can all see a road trip to Italy with you in it. Make it happen!!
Would you mind directing us to where the PPU research info you mentioned is located?
The info is here: www.universalppu.com/
John, would you consider to do a video on how to adjust the yoke and convergence on you 720 monitor?
a video every day? i can hear the angles sing :D please do this!
In MAME, I do much better by hitting one run button or both run buttons simultaneously.
evh347 Fly, who has the world record, only uses one button. :)
Epic private arcade man thanks for taking us along. Question on the rest stop Medieval Madness, i grew up in Mass and live currently in RI, is it in one of the 24 hr stops on the pike? I gotta see this thing man haha
rub just comes from a mistranslation of erase like the rubbing of the eraser and yes the shilling is strong in you lol
Where did your garage ms pac go?
What is the difference between Stargate and Defender??
Man i wanna play at your arcade John!
Is the music in this video your band's songs? It's pretty catchy.
Yes. Yes it is. Thanks!
I always thought to get the best T&F a speeds you had to alternate between left/right run buttons. Are you saying Hector literally uses just one button and it's not the alternating back/forth that's required?
evh347 Yep, he uses one button.
where does he get his cabinits
Track and Field gave me a blood blister. Can't even do fake athletics without injury.
googleboughtmee if i recall, there was a trick you could do with a quarter....something about putting it on the run buttons? i'd need to ask a friend of mine about it, but he also remembers the trick very well.
you were talking about mame I've got a raspberry pi3 with picade joystick and bought a 32 gb memory card off a guy on eBay and been told there are thousands of games on it but haven't had time to set it up yet
I have been searching for the Shrek pinball. Do you know where I can get a refurbish one at
Look on pinside.com
Thank You for the information but they don't have that one.
Make a WTB post!
I liked the game playing.
John, did you ever get that capcom cps-2 18 in 1 jamma board from your friend?
ArcadeSilva No, we didn't talk about it again. :) I should ask Kalan. :)
Hey john is there a way I can contact someone at the 2084 arcade? I would really love to get that "exact" laser light they have. Thanks 😃
This is the EXACT one: www.samash.com/micro-galaxian-laser-amicrogal?cm_mmc=GoogleShopping-_-DJ%20/%20Lighting-_-Channeladvisor-_-American+DJ+Micro+Galaxian+Laser&GSH&CSE&Channeladvisor&CAWELAID=1594687984&CAGPSPN=pla&catargetid=500002510000028166&cadevice=c&gclid=Cj0KEQiAzvmkBRCm3ZbV-4-hwrYBEiQAgLOw61fZtUkp0KXji2_5npxZZ2Ewcx-ujtBIKG8EVT3WrFMaAomi8P8HAQ
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!!!!!!
John , On Track and Field, Take a popsicle stick and use it to run. Put it between your fingers and you will run super fast. Great Videos.
Hey John! Do you travel this much for work or just out of your own enjoyment? I've been wondering this for a while now.
Just checked UK prices and its simply not possible to dream about doing this £3500 for one upright cabinet with crazy taxi . Ridiculous
This has been going on in my state without me knowing?
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Dunno! Seek it out. :)
We have an arcade scene in Europe?? Wow, that's news to me. I'm from the Netherlands and arcades are as good as dead here.
I want a bubble bobble so bad!
hey john are you still looking for a galaga? let me know if you are maybe we can work something out i have one myself. Thanks
Jon Mitchell I am looking for one local and cheap. :)
yea i was trying to maybe get a pinball for it, nothing too crazy though, or what do you have that you would trade?
Now that I know the podcasts are a little more creative in the language it's time for me to start listening to them!
William Long Yeah, we have potty mouths. :)
Hey my name was in the episode wooooo
2 vids in 2 days, the christmas is here!
Why don't arcades like this exist publicly anymore :(
If I were a girl I would skip sitting on the washing machine and go straight to that table in John's arcade.
You do not need to push the run buttons on the high jump.
I disagree
Oh.. I used to play this a lot in my youth, I had the highest jump for years and never used the run buttons.
Could you at least try without running to see?
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech The pole vault on Hyper Sports you had to run after placing your pole.

Hey John in the last video you where saying bye!!!! because you where tried
24:30 - Someone just started a game of CftBL.
Maybe if that 2084 guy had taken his own advice and not had coin-op machines, but instead did a flat entry fee, this place would still be open. I'm not a fan, at all, of "private arcades" .. but I'm bummed to see an arcade have to shut down.
I noticed that the vid of your party nobody was paying Gyruss. I suspect it will be leaving soon.
John, yes it's true...I f'king hate you ;) Now I really want to play those games and it's because of you I started to plan (in SKetchUp) and, in the near future, build an MAME "lowboy cabinet" just for playing those old games. And a John already knows the answer but still asks the person....wtf?!(and even when he has never "seen one of those b4" somehow he kinda remembers playing it somewhere..Comedy for sure...
You good John because it cost a lot of money maintain a arcade
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech T&F urban legend? you were gonna ask something and didn't. What was the question?
