I'm a long time subscriber and really enjoy your channel. Townsend is one of my favorite places to visit. My late wife and I always planned to eat several meals at Riverstone and can say we were never disappointed. As you said anyone can have a bad day. Hope you give them another chance. I'm looking forward to my next visit and another visit to Riverstone. I will say they have been under several different managements over the years but that didn't seem to affect the quality of the meals. Thanks for the videos. I always look foward to the next one. Tell Winston that I said hello.

Appreciated your honesty. I could feel that it was hard and yet needed to be truthful. You were very respectful. We have eaten there several times . It has been very inconsistent. Some years bad reviews bc service was poor. The next year great service . The food is the same . Some times very good and well seasoned and other times not so much. Alway love the fried green tomatoes . Last year I ordered fired green tomatoes as my meal and asked if they could hold the appetizer until my friend received his meal so we could it at the same time . The tomatoes we served immediately as my friend was hungry and ate most of them before they brought his sandwich .
Not really paying attention to the guest . Just know it’s inconsistent . Seems to me it used to be more consistent . So wonder if owners aren’t present . That being said , we always liked going there .

As you said, everyone has "off days". My husband has made it a point now, every time we dine out, to ask our server "We're about to pray for our meal, is there anything we can pray for you?" And 90% of the time, our server will spill everything going on in their lives and kids and heartbreaks and challenges they are facing. So many single moms struggling to make ends meet. Some have broken down in tears while sharing. It has been such a blessing to see how their faces light up and attitudes change, to know someone cares....we always tip over and above to those struggling. I would highly recommend trying this. Share God's love....Thank you for the honest review.

Thanks for your honest review. Gravy biscuit is what I would have gotten as well. I would still try it of I were to go through there because like you said , everyone can have an off day. Also, with them trying to resolve the problem is a big plus in my book as well.
like your channel, thanks for being honest, i agree cold food ruins things. . don t know if the place is still their in pigen forge but back in the late 80s their was a granny s they had a breakfast with pancakes before 8 am and the pancakes was free with any order..i watch many of your videos after work as i work all night. i have breakfast and watch your channel. love th camper you have and do you havea review on it ?my ideal camper would be a scamp .

We are there this past fall. It was .... Okay... I had pot roast. It took forever. People were nice. I thought it was pricey, but it was just like everything else. I'd go back again and try one more time.

I could see it in your face with that first bite. We always have breakfast at Townsend Pancake House. Never a bad meal yet and always good service and hot food. We look forward to every trip stopping at least once to eat here. The Hunts...

The breakfast plates did not look like a Smoky Mountains plate. When you have great breakfast restaurants in the area, subpar doesn't work. I don't understand how Gravy can be cold. It might have been microwaved.

Your meal sure did look good. I think it should have been heated up for you. Not sorry, but for any restaurant to serve cold food is not good business 😢 . Glad they cut your bill some 😊
My wife and I have eaten lunch there about 4 or 5 times. The food has always been good and the service has been good. Sorry to hear that you had what you are calling a bad day experience. Maybe the next time you go you will have a good day experience. No matter what, we still enjoy watching your videos.

I can’t eat cold breakfast food that is supposed to be served hot!! You are both very kind yet truthful. I could not have eaten cold gravy or cold eggs either. I hate you had a negative experience especially since you are in my happy place. I was hoping to see Townsend as I see it in my mind. I don’t recall that restaurant but then it’s been much too long since I’ve been there. Without a miracle I won’t be seeing it again due to my health. I’ve never been there a time that I didn’t love it all the more. Have a great rest of your trip and be safe. It has been raining off and on for a couple of days in the Tri-Cities so be safe! ❤

Wow! You two are the kindest people on Earth but hesitated to even post this video. Two weeks later you did. I’m sure that place couldn’t always have been so nonchalant or they wouldn’t be still open. But to get Mike and Karen to just share their experience ought to be a wake up call. No excuses for cold food unless it’s a salad. If I was the owner I’d invite you back for a free breakfast that I’d cook for you personally and I’d even be your waiter. I’d even throw in a treat for Winston and give you 50 bucks for gas. 😂
I think you may have hit Riverstone on an off day. I've eaten there many times over the years and have always enjoyed it. I hope you'll return and have a better meal!

Thanks for the review Mike and Karen... we had eaten there before for lunch and was not impressed ourselves and thought prices were to high for what you get... 2 places down is the Dogwood Mall which a sweet kind man named Roy owns it , you will need to go in there and look around... they have local artists that have their goods in there for sale and his wife is one of the crafters as well...Apple Valley has really good food right up the road in Townsend , The Abbey and Peaceful side social ...

We’ve never had breakfast but we’ve had lunch after a cold day in Cades Cove and the grilled cheese with ham on sourdough hit the spot. We were staying in the Little Arrow campground.

We had their catfish a few weeks ago and we have never had stringy chewy catfish before this. Don’t order catfish.

For many years my husband and I along with my parents would eat at the river stone . It was the same great food wonderful service until about 3 years ago it just wasn’t the same.

This is exactly why my wife and I always tell the server to make sure the food is Hot when it comes out because, we have had way too many experiences with cold food at Restaurants.
I'm sure this was a difficult review, but an honest review done in a kind manner. We all have "off" days when we're not as quick. I have more of those as I get older or maybe I'm just more willing to admit it these days. Missed seeing Mr Winston this time, he was probably enjoying his morning nap. Safe travels!

Great food. Good amounts.
We usually score about 30% success when trying a new place. That, and we get seated by the bathrooms- looking at the wall, or at the kitchen entrance, in the corner. 😂 Without fail!
We booked our first trip to Townsend last year after watching your videos. We are going back at the end of the year.

I live in Townsend and they do have more places now in the other direction
They have great fried catfish and fried green tomatoes. I've had two ok breakfast there. The eggs and hashbrowns were cold and the second try were room temperature and tough pancakes. I've had lunch and dinner there many times with no complaints
I not like cold meal. 😟

Thank you for being honest!!!!! It was good of of them to take some money off your bill. Not many places will do that. I'd go back in about a month or so just to see if it was better. I try to always give them the benefit of the doubt. Unless the service was bad or my wife said NO ain't going back there. She has only said a that a couple of times in the past 48 years. And those times the service sucked and so did the over priced food for the little we got.
I don’t know about the food but the couple that was there. Eating sure are very nice. I’m speaking of Mike and Karen live watching your videos and thanks for sharing.

I didn't need to wait for your review. I could tell by looking at it that we would not likely visit there. The eggs looked overcooked, and I'm not fond of gravy from a mix, which that clearly was.

When Mike didn't say ummm after first bite, I knew. My first experience wasn't impressive . The 2nd time we had fried green tomatoes and chicken fried steak. It was good.

Well, we had dinner at The ALAMO in Gatlinburg Monday night. One of the most unpleasant dinner experiences ever in my 72 year life. We went based on your review sometime back and decided to eat at The ALAMO instead of The PEDDLER...which is outstanding all the time. The steak and prime rib were tough and the presentation was terrible. The server wasn't nice nor timely. She brought our Ceasars Salad after 20 minutes and then our meals 2 minutes later! The place is nothing more than a cheap roadside joint with way over priced food and help. Good to see honesty in this video...or did they just not comp the meal? Be completely honest in future or you will lose followers.
Those eggs looked brutal and the portion made the plate look gigantic.

We had breakfast there a few weeks ago. We were disappointed with the gravy. We thought it was bland. It was pricey to us for mediocre food. This was our 2nd try, but probably won't go back there. Our favorite breakfast is at the Log Cabin Pancake House near the Space Needle.

Riverstone Restaurant since 2016. It was good before 2020 but has progressively gotten worse over time. I really do think 2020 had a big effect on this restaurant 😕

Hate to hear you had a bad experience. We eat there several times a year and is always great. Maybe lost cook they had and didn't look like busy time of yr yet. Maybe they let their guard down??? No excuse. Should meet the standard of warm food every time!!❤

Not yet. They camp at the house with us.
We ate there as well while on vacation and the food was just ok not anything special. When we first walked in there was a toddler on the floor playing with toothpicks which were scattered everywhere. We think the child belonged to one of the waitresses. What bothered me was that the waitress picked up the toothpicks and put them back in the container which was then placed back on the table. 😮 Needless to say, we won’t be back. Thanks for a honest and kind review.
