    Great video. For those with the next model, the Sena 10C SP59 the after yours, it has a 1200mah 4.56Wh battery with a different connection as I discovered. The markings on this battery are YJ903040 3.8v 1200mAH 4.56Wh SD08EY
    Cheers.

    Lin, Thanks for the video! Got mine replaced very easily. I didn’t have a T5 Torx bit, but found that a very small flathead screwdriver that I had in my jewelers screwdriver kit worked perfectly!

    Thanks, this made the swap out nice&easy. I noticed on my original battery that it was swelling just a little. Definitely some OEM failure there.

      I have read that swelling batteries can also be caused by charging incorrectly. Like a fast charger or such.

    YMMV: my 10C Pro had 5 tiny Phillips head screws holding the two halves together. I didn't discover this until AFTER I ordered a Torx driver set and dug out the silicone Sena filled the holes with.

      G'day Noel. It's annoying when manufacturers randomly change their design with no obvious reason.

    This is a useful video, but I'm just wondering if anyone who has carried out this swap already can advise. The original battery is a 3.7v 1000mAh with dimensions of 9x40x30mm. I've found a 1100mAh battery that's 9x40x30 and a 1200mAh battery that's 10x40x30mm. Obviously, the larger capacity would be preferable, but is the 10mm battery too thick for the main board to seat back in properly above it?
    Many thanks.

    Here, I can't get the screws, even a T5 seems way too bigger. Thank you SENA for that F... design !

    • @Mechautoinsight
      @Mechautoinsight  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      G'day Alfac. Hope you succeeded. The T5 is the correct one. As I mentioned, it is quite difficult to centre the torx driver in the centre of the screw.

    • @alfac4746
      @alfac4746 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mechautoinsight Thank you for your confirmation. I gave another try without success. Maybe I damaged the screws while trying. Which makes the situation even worse :(

    • @Mechautoinsight
      @Mechautoinsight  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alfac4746 OK here's what to do. Get some 800 wet & dry emery paper. Hold the T5 torx driver at 45 degrees and stroke the edge of the flats then the corners across the paper to take off the sharp edges. Then feel to locate the driver in the head of the screw and give a sharp tap, then push firmly down to undo. Good luck.

      @@Mechautoinsight It's ok now ! I went to some electronics shop. The guy used a T4 to unscrew them. And I bought another T5, mine appeared to be low-quality ("toy" like). Battery is now changed and charging ! Thanks again for your support and this very usefull video. Cheers

    Thanks for the video. Also to anyone doing this I suggest sing a grounded strap is helpful and try not to touch the pc connectors with anything metal and again un-grounded, Going to order a battery. I was wondering if battery Plus would have this battery? Thanks again!

    • @Mechautoinsight
      @Mechautoinsight  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment. I agree with the grounding strap to prevent static charge damage. You could try Battery Plus but I believe on-line is your best bet.

    Hi there. I think my 10c pro battery is faulty. as I was downloading some footage it suddenly shut off and wouldn't turn back on. I tried to charge it but still wouldnt turn on. After charging I noticed it was hotter than usual so I'm guessing it's the battery? I live in the u.k and I'm struggling to find a place to purchase a new battery. Could you recommend anything?
    Cheers

      @@muthurajmariyappan1431 it depends which screw. You could try drilling the top off or if head is exposed, use a dremil with a fine cutting wheel to cut a groove for a blade screwdriver.

    Hi, before finding this video I replaced the battery on my 10C in the same way as what I see in the video.
    But the Sena turns on and off immediately, even if you replace the original battery it no longer charges. First red LED then blue then turns off.
    Can anyone give me info on this? Thanks in advance

      I changed my battery and I get a similar issue. I believe the inter-board connectors are very fragile and are not making good connections any more. If I press down over the top connector I can get the unit to stay powered on.

    Man.... I didn't realise it was going to be so difficult to change the battery. What a crap design! Very good detailed video but I still think I'd stuff my camera if I tried this.

    • @Mechautoinsight
      @Mechautoinsight  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's pretty robust so unlikely you will do any damage. Just take your time and perhaps take photos during disassembly.

    • @AJ-ki3ip
      @AJ-ki3ip 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Getting about 10-15 minutes battery life now so think I'm going to have to give it a crack. I did notice that sometimes after turning off the camera, I would pick it up 10 minutes later and the whole thing would be warm, bordering on hot. I could not turn it on unless I reset it and it would not charge unless it was reset first. Since the battery life has become noticeably bad it's stopped doing it. I'm sure whatever it was wasn't good for the battery.
