Thanks for the excellent comment, Fawad! You're absolutely correct. It can be a lot of fun to hear all the fun chatter with your friends when you ride together. :-)
Thanks for the review. Just found this after investing in a 10C Pro. I agonized over getting a gopro, but the connectivity with phone/audio/gps in one unit makes it a no brainer. Now to make it all work....
Thanks James! Glad the video could help. We've since upgraded to the 10c EVO, which has even better quality, with the same simplicity of connections to phone/audio/gps. Check out our review here: th-cam.com/video/W6QJfwg44dI/w-d-xo.html. And check out how well the intercoms/video system works while recording our adventures here: th-cam.com/video/L3tf5pl2HCI/w-d-xo.html.
Good info here. Really appreciate you taking the time to make this video. I have owned a 10c for a couple years, it has developed a short in one of the speakers that has become quite annoying but I have traced it to the connection on the unit. This would be the only reason for me to upgrade to the 10c pro. Overall the video quality doesn’t seem significantly better.
Thanks for the comment, Big Dog! I'm sorry you've developed a short in the wires. I believe you can buy just the speaker set and replace that if you want. But if you need another reason for a potential upgrade it's the new Wi-Fi feature! I LOVE being able to periodically pull up the camera viewpoint to make sure I'm getting the angle I want! :-)
With YT compression and whatnot it is hard to get accurate I guess? From the last side by side comparison it look like the Sena 10C had more color balance "out of the box" I have an old Hero4 and found a setup on YT from an off-road biker and at 60fps is a big difference. Not so jagged etc. (Not sure what it is called) Thank you for the video!
Hi Erik! Thanks for the comment. You are correct, the compression messes everything up. But in our newer vidoes, I think we've found the best settings to minimize it. This video is pretty old. You might want to check out this update: th-cam.com/video/W6QJfwg44dI/w-d-xo.html. It's about the Sena 10c EVO, which I upgraded to from the Sena 10c Pro. The new one is a HUGE step up in quality from the old one. I compare it to a Hero 7 or 8, if I remember correctly. You might also appreciate this video where we talk about how we film our crazy motorcycle adventures: th-cam.com/video/x8iSOc38oaQ/w-d-xo.html. Enjoy!!!
YES! I upgraded to the 10c EVO. Here's my review of this newer model: th-cam.com/video/W6QJfwg44dI/w-d-xo.html. Here's an install video about it: th-cam.com/video/OpFIjo50t9g/w-d-xo.html. And here's another install video we did from the road: th-cam.com/video/1nMIH2yxRR8/w-d-xo.html. Finally, here's a review/tutorial about the cool remote control you can get for it: th-cam.com/video/H9YzP3SLIxg/w-d-xo.html.
Thanks for a great review. I have to fully agree with it. Take it for what it is and what it brings: ease of use. For non vloggers that will not reproduce in youtube and still want to have an awesome sena intercom, this is simply unbeatable.
It’s a very interesting choice to use a Session 5 and not a Hero 4/5/6 for comparison. I currently have a Sena 30K so I’m use to connecting to riders via Bluetooth or Mesh. I don’t think the 10c Pro or the EVO have mesh. It;s nice to see that video quality is coming along even though it is still far behind. Your review did help me fine tune my information gathering. I appreciate your work.
Thanks Pete! Glad the video was helpful to you. I compared it to the Session 5 because that was the GoPro I owned at that time. Since then I've replaced the Sena 10c Pro with the Sena 10c EVO, replaced the GoPro Sesson 5 with a Hero 7, and also added a Hero 8 to my kit. With the exception of stabilization, the 10c EVO truly matches the quality of the GoPros a lot better. So I'm very happy with this setup. It still doesn't have Mesh. But I really only ride with a couple other guys. So being able to connect with up to 4 riders on the regular Sena intercom system works fine for me. Have a look at my review of the 10c EVO: th-cam.com/video/W6QJfwg44dI/w-d-xo.html. And also check out my moto photo adventure videos to get a feel for the quality production we're able to put together with the combination of Sena 10c (original), Sena 10c Pro, Sena 10c EVO, GoPro Session 5, and GoPro Hero 7: th-cam.com/video/Xlr2zHJPY74/w-d-xo.html. Cheers!
This actually is a good video explaining what the updated 10c is about. About video quality, TH-cam pretty much screws quality over, and i actually found the 1080p 30fps footage of the original 10c smoother, more colorfull (again, that can be just me or because youtube screws uploads over) :p. The footage from the pro version is sharper though, plus the angle is more wide then the original 10c. (i think the 10c is about 115°). Nothing compares to the GoPro's though. I myself have a GoPro 7, quality is massive. Downside on that? Sucks to connect a microphone, you need an adapter, and then still you need a seperate intercom system and additional mic's to record your party's voices during a recording session. Thus the Sena 10c covers all that into one device. This is the reason i'm starting to look for a mount of the GoPro on my handlebars of the bike, so i can record myself on the bike, while i use my 10c on the helmet for front footage. Then i still have the audio recording from the sena, and i can slap my gopro footage over that and keep the audio, like other motovloggers do :p. For the record, i'm still setting up my stuff before actually starting motovlogging :p. Ive tried to start many times, yet never gotten into it. It also doesn't help that my Sena 10c stops recording after 20min because my battery is low after a full charge. I'm telling, if you use the Sena 10c a lot, the battery goes fast. I was able to record over 80min when i got it (back in 2017). I wonder how long the Pro version can record? Anyway, thanks for the video! Subscribed and liked ;).
Thanks for the awesome comment! I love your idea of getting a handlebar mount for your GoPro. I have a similar set up with my GoPro Session 5. I clamp it to my rear view mirror and have it pointed back at me, while I record audio and a front-facing view on my Sena 10c Pro. You should also look into getting mounts to hang the GoPro down near your wheels to record the road ahead or behind. These can be great b-roll angles. Good luck with your motovlog channel. It's a lot of fun once you get into it! :-)
Thanks for the review. Been waiting for this to be released for a long time now. Quality difference between the 3 cameras not all that different. Wish you had a GoPro Hero 7 in there as well as it probably is one of the best ones out there. But the form factor and features of the 10c Pro still win me over.
Thanks Dennis! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I couldn't agree more! The form factor and features make the 10c Pro the clear winner!!! The footage on TH-cam did indeed loose a lot in compression artifacts. In reality, the Sena 10c Pro footage is definitely a little clearer than the Sena 10c. The footage from the GoPro Session 5 has a lot more depth and dynamic range. But it comes out of the camera a little "soft" and needs a little sharpening applied in post-production to really shine. You could definitely see the improvement in image stabilization, however. I agree the quality and stabiliazation of the GoPro Hero 7 probably would have been stellar. However, it's twice as big and awkward as the GoPro Session 5. And then you have to deal with all the wires and what-not to get audio. Sena 10c Pro for the win IMHO!
Thank you for this review. I am just now seeing this as I am/was contemplating the 10c. For me the greatest difference between the sample video's you did was image stabilization. The GoPro, even in the small form factor "Session" version just does a better job here. For me personally the file sizes also have a consideration in VLOGS. As you stop up in each frame rate the size of the files increases and some reach very large sizes. This makes editing, storing, and sending them problematic in some cases...... Again, thank you....
Hi Garey! Thanks for the great comments. I recently upgraded to the Sena 10c EVO, which is MUCH better image quality than the 10c Pro. Check it out: th-cam.com/video/W6QJfwg44dI/w-d-xo.html. I totally agree. It would be great to have stabilization in these devices. But then again, the GoPro doesn't have built in intercom, doesn't have FM radio, and doesn't let me call home through the bluetooth connection. There just isn't one device that "does it all". But I'm extremely happy with the value the 10c EVO adds to my riding and recording experience! :-)
I'm intrigued by the possibility of combining the ability to radio-connect with other riders as I do with my old Sena and motovlog at the same time. The mixed (and few, for now) reviews on Amazon are a concern, though. Thanks for posting this on FB, I wasn't aware this device even existed. My gear is more outdated than I realized!
You're very welcome, Chris! If you already have a Sena headset, it'll be an easy upgrade for you. The video quality isn't up to date with the latest GoPro cameras. But the audio is incredible, the device is so small and compact compared to mounting a GoPro with all the crazy wires and connections it takes to hook up audio, and the fact that it has an FM Radio built in, a speed dial feature to call your friends on your smartphone, a "loop" recording mode if you just want to use it for safety as a dash-cam, and the fact that it does all the other things your old Sena could do, just makes it a really neat all-in-one product. Transfer your old Sena to your "other" helmet for when you take friends for rides. Then put this one on your current helmet, and you'll be able to connect the two. Get up to speed with the new, but keep the old workhorse for a double-jeopardy bonus! :-) If you decide to get the 10cPro, I hope you'll order it through our link to help support the channel! Thanks and have a great weekend.
I bought the TomTom Bandit but the mike connection costs extra and comes with a ridiculously long cable that is hard to accommodate in the helmet and no microphone. I wish I'd opted for the Sena 10c. Video quality is, in my opinion, perfectly adequate for anyone not wanting to produce footage that will build a huge fan base and help finance their travels.
Image stabilization (lack of) is a deal breaker for me. If you could see what non-IS vids look like on my 120" projector, you'd easily understand. [I'm feeling ill.] But I agree that the Sena has every other convenience I'd like to have. I do have an older GoPro around here somewhere. I don't even bother to find it before a ride. Maybe it's under those books in that crate... I think I told you that, after brief skirmishes with Premiere and Resolve (neither of which is intended for amateurs like me), I tripped over the free Open Shot editor. It's like legos compared to building a real NYC skyscraper. My first trial resulted in a (moderately terrible) finished video. Can we say it all together: "Intuitive." Please offer to sell me a GoPro 7 Black in a Sena form with a built in 3.5mm microphone jack, weatherproof, which can be charged while shooting, and with the GPS data selectable on image. 4K/60 or 1080P/120, s'il vous plait. And I will use it twice, and realize that no one, not even me, wants to see me ride to supper. :O
You crack me up, Jim! Thanks for the comment. As I mention in my review, the Sena 10c Pro does not live up to the image quality of a current model GoPro. And one of its biggest downfalls is not having image stabilization. So we are in complete agreement. When I'm recording riding videos, I always use my GoPro 7 to get a second or third angle of view. But I also pop it on my helmet as the main shot, simple splicing in the audio from the Sena during post-production. Until a more refined product comes along, however, I'll continue to be content with my Sena 10c Pro as the simple jack-of-all-trades (recording descent video, recording audio commentary, recording conversations with riding buddies via intercom, listening to music, hearing turn-by-turn directions of my gps, enjoying FM radio when in the city, and of course recording my daily commutes in loop mode for protection in the event of a distracted driver cutting me off). Cheers, brother. Keep riding and having fun!!!
I’m now looking to get my 1st all in 1 camera and hands free phone gadget for my helmet, so some audio would’ve been nice to check, however the picture quality between all 3, there’s not really much in it, which is good, and I do like the way this Sena item is nice and compact, compared to all these other products on sale that are just ridiculously big....., thanks for the review 👍🏻
You're very welcome, JMS. I apologize for not recording the audio. If you look at some videos others have done on the 10cPro, you'll see that pretty much everyone agrees the audio is outstanding! I don't know how they cut out all that wind and road noise. But it truly is impressively clean audio. The best part is, you don't have to rig all these wires and adapters like you do to connect a microphone to a helmet-mounted GoPro. I wish the video was better. But it's the best all-in-one solution available right now!
@@MotoPhotoAdventures They are able cut out the road noise because the the Sena 10c pro has a secondary mic hidden inside it for noise cancellation. Which in itself is another upgrade from the 10c. The original 10c recorded audio at 500kbps in MONO. The 10c Pro records audio at 128kbps in STEREO.
Understanding this video is a year old, the pro has somewhat better clarity. The GoPro 5 with image stabilization made a big difference. I was about to buy the Sena 10c pro but this video gave me what I needed. I will wait till Sena adds it, or buy a GoPro
Glad it helped, Frank! You might want to check my review on the Sena 10c EVO. It's got much better quality than the 10c Pro. It still doesn't have stabilization. But as I point out to my friends, a GoPro doesn't have an intercom, an FM radio, or bluetooth connection to my phone so I can listen to music, make phone calls hands-free, or get directions from Google Maps. So it's a trade off. I personally use my 10c EVO in combination WITH a GoPro Hero 8 to give me the best of all worlds. The GoPro can be stuck on the helmet, or on the handlebars looking at me, or on my engine guards, or even on a min-tripod at the side of the road to get a shot of me riding by. So it's a valuable tool! However, it's a royal pain to hook up audio from your helmet to a GoPro. And honestly, if you do a really nice job of "telling the story" through your editing tools, nobody really notices that the Sena is lacking image stabilization! In fact, being non-stabilized often gives it a more "raw" and "in-the-moment" feel to the footage. Check out our latest travel vlog and see how quickly you get sucked into the story: th-cam.com/video/TPq-lO5yfl8/w-d-xo.html. :-) If you're not specifically trying to pick out which footage isn't stabilized, you won't even notice it! Plus all the audio you hear while we're riding is coming through our Sena 10c, 10c Pro, and 10c EVO, respectively. Pretty awesome, eh?!?
Chris Smith I have bluetooth hearing aids so that isn’t an issue for me. Are any of the Senas water proof? I live in Florida so getting wet while riding is a regular expectation.
@@frankrightbrain now THAT is amazing! I never would have thought of Bluetooth hearing aids. Isn't technology awesome?!? All the Senas are water resistant. I've ridden through POURING rain with each one without any problem. But I do try to limit how often that happens. I carry a a few of those latex shop gloves that mechanics wear in case I have a flat or mechanical on the side of the road and don't want to get my hands all greasy. So if I see that I'm going to hit a big rainstorm, when I stop to put on my waterproof outer riding gear, I also stretch one of those latex gloves over the Sena just to be on the safe side.
I just bought a unit of 10c pro, your video helped me in choosing, only problem is the audio, very bad unfortunately, a constant background noise, like bzzzzzzzz. Of course, when editing, there is almost always a song, or my own voice softening the problem. I tried everything in the settings, nothing else got no improvement. I was wondering if you also noticed this problem on your drive. Sena suggests the exchange, but I think it will not solve anything, for other people's videos on youtube, it seems that this is a common problem, thanks.
Hi No Frontiers! Thanks for the kind comment. I have not experienced this at all with my device. I have a fairly quiet HJC Rpha Max helmet. But if the buzz you are hearing is not from road noise or wind noise through your helmet, I would definitely exchange for a new one. You might have a defective unit.
I'm thinking of getting back into motovlogging, and I have been looking for a new setup. The Hero 4 Black with the Sena Bacpac is still looking like the way to go for me. I love the idea of an all-in-one product like this, but the image quality looks so poor. My old Hero 4 Black looked great, and this new product from Sena is a major step down in my opinion. I don't understand the point in making a new product with outdated technology. It would be like Tesla introducing a combustion engine car to their demographic. Now if Sena and Gopro do a collaboration for an all-in-one, I'll jump on it IMMEDIATELY. Great review, great comparison, and thank you for the work you put into this.
Thanks for the kind comment, Spartan! I couldn't agree more!!! Maybe after seeing all the feedback, Sena will step up their camera next time. Meanwhile, you should consider upgrading your Hero 4. The Hero 5 added some stabilization. But I just got the Hero 7 and the stabilization in that one FAR exceeds previous models!!! Very helpful when mounting to vibrating motorcycles. :-)
Chris Smith My major issues with GoPro are wireless integration and battery life. When I started, I ran a cheap wired mic, but the battery life at the time was 15 minutes. When I switched to the Sena BacPac, the wires went away and the battery life went to 45 minutes. The pros were video quality and audio quality. The cons were weight and wind grabbing the GoPro even when it was chin mounted. I’m strongly considering the Fusion right now, but given the major price drop currently, I’m getting the feeling a Fusion 2 is on the near horizon. Then I’m still left with wireless integration with all current models. I’m not doing any third party apps, and I’m not going bulky. I just want streamlined design and quality wireless connectivity. Anything less than 4K, that is new, is frankly a waste of time for me. I like to record in high resolution, then downgrade it to 1080 in editing. It made the random “pixelated clouds” go away in my videos. Also, the night shot in my Hero 4 left a lot to be desired. I don’t mind spending more to get better quality, but I’m not spending “quality camera money” on a sub-par device. If an update comes along to fix the connectivity woes associated with GoPros and Bluetooth headsets, I’ll give that a go. The problem I see is the technology exists, but more and more companies are going to proprietary products vs universal applications.
I feel your pain, brother. All we can do is pick the best compromise out of the current mess of options...and hope someone gets their act together soon!!!
Hi Adaptiveagile! Are you referring to whether you set the video to 1440 or 1080? I didn't notice much difference between them either. I started out recording at 1440 at 30fps simply so that I had a few more pixels to play with in editing, like if I wanted to crop in a little. But I've since switched to 1030 at 60fps. Seems to be a little cleaner. But either way, TH-cam really trashes the images with its compression algorithms when you upload.
In the last video demo - all three side by side - I think the images and especially the colors are much more crisp and clear on the Sena than on the GoPro.
Thanks for the comment brufnus. Unfortunately after the TH-cam compression made the video quality suffer, it's really hard to get an accurate representation of the true quality of each product.
You're very welcome, Carlos! Glad I could help! If you aren't partial to where you buy it, we would love it if you'd make your purchase through our Amazon Affiliate link at: amzn.to/2MeHemo. It helps to support my channel with a little kickback. :-)
Thanks for the nice review. All videos looked very compressed, would have been interesting to compare audio as well, since thats one of the advantaged of the Sena. Maybe the next product Sena launches will be what I'm looking for :) Right now it's all compromises, including the gopro that requires external microphone for good audio.
Thanks for the kind comment, Speedytrip. I feel your pain! Everything is about compromise this year. I wish Sena would take a few tips from GoPro and come out with a "REAL" 10c Pro that incorporates 4K and video stabilization on top of all their other great features. THAT to me would be the ideal setup. I'd gladly pay $500 for such a device! I do feel it's coming. But if we have to wait 2 more years for that, I'm not going to wait that long. I've got too many trips coming up I want to record. Plus the security of always having that "dashcam" is important to me. I'm very grateful for the small increase in quality, plus the WiFi preview video on the new one. I'll enjoy it for now and sell it to upgrade to the new one when it does come out! :-)
How does loop mode work? Just like on gopro (trashy) or like traditional dashcam (just hit rec and forget about any problems)? And can we reduce somehow that crazy sharpening?
Hi Sergio! Loop mode works great. I use regular mode when I'm on a trip filming our adventure films like this one: th-cam.com/video/JzYtjx2ktxo/w-d-xo.html. But when I'm just riding around town, I switch it to loop mode so that I have "evidence" if there is ever an accident. Loop mode simply records until the memory card is full, then continues recording over the oldest clips. The image quality of the 10c Pro is actually much better than this video shows. The problem is, I wasn't very good at TH-cam when I made this video 2 years ago, and so the TH-cam compression made it look terrible. Now I use better settings when uploading to TH-cam to avoid this problem. However, if you want really good quality, I would buy the Sena 10c EVO! This is the new version to replace the Sena 10c Pro and the video quality is MUCH better...as good as my GoPro Hero 8/9. You'll want to watch my review of it here to see how amazing it is: th-cam.com/video/W6QJfwg44dI/w-d-xo.html. Whichever you decide to buy, I think you're going to like it!
Very good review, thanks. I’m thinking of getting the Sena 10C on the basis of your assessment (and others’), although the comparative (with my GoPro Hero 5+) video image quality and lack of stabilisation is slightly holding me back. At this late stage, I’m wondering if I’m just as well waiting for the next release/version which will probably be a further improved one and with better video image quality. When is that likely to be, though...? What do you think? Worth just waiting?
Glad it was helpful, Daniele! I sold my 10c Pro and upgraded to the 10c EVO. I like it much better! You can watch our more recent films to see the quality. I'm currently riding the Trans America Trail with 2 other guys...1 of them has the original 10c, 1 has the 10c Pro, and I have the 10c EVO. If you watch the videos, you'll see my helmet camera is much smoother and better image quality! We also still use GoPro cameras for alternate angles. But the Sena helmet cameras are fantastic because they automatically can record audio between all of us while we ride!
That's a great question, Miki! I know you can record video while talking on the intercom. I know you can record video while listening to music. But I've never tried all three at the same time...probably because I'm not talanted enough to do all that AND ride a motorcycle at the same time...HA! By the way, I know you can record video while listening to music...but if you're also navigating with your phone, the gps will turn down the music and cut in to give you the verbal turning directions, then resume the music. I personally don't use the intercom feature very much. When I'm out riding with my friends, I prefer to ride in my own space and not have my chatty friends going on and on inside my helmet. Next time I'm riding with them, I'll give it a try and report back to you. If anyone else on here knows the answer, please let us know in a comment...
Hello the model of sena c10 pro has the same function of video tagging as in the previous model c10, that function is activated to record video one minute before and one minute later greetings Mario
Hi Mario! Yes indeed! Video Tagging in the Sena 10c Pro is a very handy feature. I'm glad they kept it from the previous Sena 10c. It also has the "Loop" Recording, which basically turns the device into a dash-cam. One nice thing is that the new 10c Pro can accept SD cards up to 64 GB, which is twice as large as the 10c accepted. So now you have twice as much memory for storing video, which is nice!
@@stinmario You're very welcome! I was just in Cartagena, Colombia, last week. Hopefully someday I can make it to see your beautiful country as well!!!
HAHA!!! I get this comment all the time. I love the incredible image stabilization in my GoPro Hero 8 and Hero MAX. But neither of them includes an intercom, an FM radio, a bluetooth mic+speaker connection so that I can make phone calls or listen to music or hear turn-by-turn directions from my Google Maps app or ask Google hands-free questions like "What's the weather look like today". Does that mean the GoPro products are non-starters as well? Not at all. For approximately the same amount of money, you have two options, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Personally, I choose to have BOTH! The Sena 10c EVO does all the things I mentioned above...plus it gives me a great 4K footage with that "helmet camera" angle. The GoPro can then be use its strengths to get me alternate angles like shooting back at me from the handlebars, or dramatic shots of the front wheel from below the engine guards, or views over my head of the road ahead when mounted to a selfie stick attached to my rear luggage rack. Do I think it would be great if Sena could squeeze image stabilization into the 10c EVO? YES! But even if the could, the price would have to be higher. In the meantime, I for one am extremely pleased with all the incredibly useful features they did pack into that device. I use it for its strengths. And I use my GoPro for its strengths. Maybe when Sena puts image stabilization into their next version, GoPro will add intercom connection to theirs?!? :-)
@@MotoPhotoAdventures Wow, while my comment was directed at Sena in hopes that they’d read the comments, now that I see you’re shilling for Sena marketing it provides a new perspective on your review/sales pitch. First, let’s try to stay on topic. GoPro was not designed to be, or sold as, a motorcycle communicator, so most of your argument is irrelevant. Yes, they’re used by bikers, but not as communicators. Are there advantages of integrating an action camera into the communicator? Absolutely! But that’s no reason to forgive an obvious design shortcoming. The reality is, it is Sena that is attempting to enter the action camera arena, so we need to focus on how well they’re doing in that field. There’s a reason you get this comment all the time. In today’s world, out of focus pictures or shaky video is no longer accepted. Most action cameras today have image stabilization, including inexpensive models. You can shill for Sena all you want, but in 2021 ALL action cameras should include stabilization, including this substandard camera from Sena and the EVO. I can’t help but notice that all the video shown pitching this camera was taken on smooth roads. Tar strips, potholes, and all the other crap that exists on many streets create shaky video UNLESS it’s properly stabilized. As bikers, we’re all hungry for good video of motorcycle roads, but let’s settle for subpar equipment. BTW, your audio is out of sync.
@@VintageRacer2 I see your point! And I totally agree. In a perfect world, I would LOVE to have everything in a single product. I'm not "shilling" for anyone in particular. I use many tools for my videos (Sena, GoPro, Drone, Smartphone, etc.). But at the moment, the Sena 10c EVO is a tool that works really well for us. (Yes, this video is 2 years old and I have since then upgraded from the 10cPro to the 10c EVO: th-cam.com/video/W6QJfwg44dI/w-d-xo.html.). Personally, I'm just a story-teller and I'll use whatever device is currently available to help me reach that goal. You mentioned nobody uses these devices on bumpy roads. Check out this video where we ride up and over Marshall Pass on some really dusty, bumpy roads: th-cam.com/video/B8WFdtLmtMQ/w-d-xo.html. It's a great story! Yes, if you are trying to pick it out, you'll notice the unstabilized footage of the Sena. But if you're just enjoying the story of the adventure, you won't even notice it! In fact some say throwing in the unstabilized footage helps add a "rawness" to our travel videos that wouldn't be there if everything was always silky smooth. Also notice how the friendly banter and dialogue between the three of us helps tie the storyline together. That's all thanks to the three Senas capturing the audio. Don't worry, I'll continue to hope Sena comes out with a new version of the 10c with stabilizer built in. But until then, I'm enjoying the product for what it is! Let me know what you think of the travel video? I'm curious to hear your opinion.
@@MotoPhotoAdventures What biker doesn’t love CO? As I said, bikers love to watch biker videos and I liked it. Composition of shots is great, creative cuts between different cameras adds, pre-planning is evident, drone work is good, colors are terrific, speed ramping is used appropriately, and it does demonstrate that banter between group members adds to the video. Ya dun good! I think the stabilized shots from the GoPro are easier on the eyes than those from the Sena and would not agree that unstabilized ‘raw’ shots add anything. I appreciate quality and there are too many creative ways to add tension if needed. From the looks of that video, you’re familiar with them. I’m (rightfully) criticized in my videos for not keeping the editing tight enough. As creators, we like our stuff and struggle to cut some stuff out. Depending on the audience, tighter editing usually results in a better video - at least for me. For me, unlike photography where once a pic is edited and I’m done, with video every time I watch one of my creations I want to redo it. Seems like I’m never satisfied.
@@VintageRacer2 all excellent points, my friend! And I totally agree. I'm also my worst self-critic. I think that's just the curse of being a "creative"! :-)
Chris, I enjoyed your review. After you showed the video quality of all those clips, I thought to Sena 10c (not Pro) looked better, myself. Now with that being said, I have a friend who bought the pro and is selling his older 10c (2 yrs old) and for just over $100 I would be more than happy with just the 10c with 1080p (30 fps). The price difference is not really worth it unless I could put a 256gb card in the new Pro as opposed to the 10c like I can with my GoPro 7 Black. Can the 10c Pro accept larger memory cards?
Hi Pete! WOW...for $100 the 10c would be a heck of a deal. Honestly, the compression and artifacting I've gotten when posting videos to TH-cam has made comparing footage side-by-side almost impossible. When viewing directly on the desktop, the 10c Pro hardly has any improvement in quality. But because of the slightly higher resolution, I have the ability to "crop" the scene a little, which I like. And of course the 60fps is nice. But knowing what I know now, I would have been perfectly happy continuing to use my 10c until the next generation came out with 4k (or whatever is next). I sold my used 10c (also about 2 years old) to a buddy of mine for $150. I'd say you've got nothing to loose if you can pick up that used one for almost $100!!! As far as memory cards, the 10c only recognizes up to 32GB, and the 10cPro up to 64GB. But remember, you're only recording in 1080P, so you don't need a huge memory card like you do with the Hero7 at 4K. Also look into Loop video recording mode and Video Tagging mode. I use these a lot. Cuts down on having to sift through hours of useless footage later. :-) Enjoy!
First of all: Thank you very much for the time and effort you took to make such a good review! 👍🏻🙏🏻 Second, i am somehow disappointed what Sena offers us... 😕 Video quality looks really, i am sorry to say, like from a GoPro 2. I made my last Video (on TH-cam) with a GoPro Hero 6 and if i compare this now with the footage of the Sena 10c Pro, there are very big differences in quality. The only good thing about the 10C Pro is recording the audio. Recording audio with the GoPro Hero 6, you need a big adaptor to connect a microphone, what makes it a mess to put all that stuff on a helmet 😤 So for now... i keep on filming with the GoPro and put on my "voice comments" on the video afterwards. Thanks for showing and greetings from Germany, Karim
Thanks for the kind comment, Karim! You are absolutely right. I wish the video was better too. And I wish it had video stabilizer like the GoPro. I think for now your solution is a good one. Hopefully they will not take as long to come out with a replacement as the last time!!!
Video Stabilization is a real plus. But I really like the Swiss Army Knife approach of my 10C. 90 percent of the time I only use the Video Tagging option to mark somebody doing something Krazo infront of me. The FM reception is a bit wonky but 99% off the time I'm listening to music or answering calls both on my iPhone 6+. My 10c still works fine. I can wait a while...
Thanks for the review!! I've been wanting to add a Sena camera to my 20S for years.... Come to find out it's a single unit now-a-days. Amazon will be delivering mine within two days. :)
Awesome review just orderd one for myself picked up my new bike Friday upgrade from gph 3lol u put everything in lamans terms for me the comparison did it for me thanks 4 the vid Your editing is great ps What software u use cheers mate ride safe
Thanks Sean! I'm glad you enjoyed the review. I hope you love your Sena 10c Pro as much as I love mine. I use Adobe Premier Elements 2018 to edit video. Not the best, but easy to learn, affordable, and does a great job!
My opinion of the 3, the original 10C had the best pic, but the gopro looked best for stabilization. If I had to pick between 10c and 10c pro, I'd likely go with the pro JUST for the WiFi... however if I found a 10c much cheaper, I'd get that
Thanks for the insights, Jay! I totally agree. The WiFi feature is extremely handy. Now that I have the 10c Pro, I don't know how I lived without it when I had my original 10c.
You're very welcome! I recently upgraded from the Sena 10c Pro to the Sena 10c EVO, which I like even better!!! Here's a link: th-cam.com/video/W6QJfwg44dI/w-d-xo.html. I hope it helps.
I think you could, iSnoopie! It depends on how far away they are. But safety and protection is one of the reasons I bought mine. I run it in loop recording mode around town, so that it's like a "dash-cam". If anything happens to me I have video evidence. The resolution of the new 10c EVO camera is much higher than the previous model.
I think the TH-cam compression messed up this video. All the different quality examples you showed (which I appreciate that you did) were all very pixelated. Even the notation you added to the video saying "bummer about the couds [clouds]" had artifacts, then got clearer for a second, then was pixelated again. To me this was a sign that the entire video got compressed and tampered with all the different video footage.
Question: How well protected is the lens on the Sena 10c Pro from flying debris such as small pebbles, bugs, etc. Also, I like the stabilization the go pro offers; but, I think I'll give up stabilization for the all inclusive Bluetooth Headset & Camera Sena 10c Pro provides.
Hi Frank! Thanks for your comment. The camera does come with a small plastic lens cap. But I bought the thing to "use" it, not let it sit behind a lens cap. When I installed it, I left the cap in the box...never even put it on. I did the same thing with the previous Sena 10c, which I owned for 2 years before I upgraded to the new Sena 10c Pro. I've never had a single problem! Bugs hit my helmet visor all the time. In all my riding, I've never had one hit the camera lens. Maybe I'm lucky? Maybe the unit sits in a protected zone where everything is deflected around it? Either way, I feel pretty confident that if something did get on it, a simple wipe with some lens cleaner and a soft cloth would take care of it. I'd go for it! Here's an affiliate link to where I got mine, and the memory card I use (which works perfectly by the way): Sena 10c Pro - amzn.to/2MeHemo , Sandisk Extreme 64GB MicroSD - amzn.to/2SWX4o8
For those who are interested, I finally upgraded to the brand new Sena 10c EVO!!! Here is my review, comparing it with the old Sena 10c Pro: th-cam.com/video/W6QJfwg44dI/w-d-xo.html
Is there a way to just capture audio recording w/o running the camera which eats up the battery? I know i can separate that in post but was just wondering.
I don't know of any way to only record the audio. But I can give you a great tip on eating up your battery! If you have a cigarette lighter adapter or USB outlet on your bike, you can plug a micro-USB phone-charging cable into the Sena 10c, 10c Pro, or 10c EVO. As long as you plug it in BEFORE you turn on the device, it will actually continuously charge itself even while you are recording. This allows me to record all day long when I'm on one of my long trips like this one: th-cam.com/video/NmwNEIhC8Lw/w-d-xo.html. I hope this helps!
I’m new into biking and into camera. A quick question- were the three videos put side by side in the end taken at the same time? It seemed there was no sun except in the 10cpro? Please let me know, I’m planning to buy either GoPro 8 or 10c pro
Hi Nita! Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately the sun was going in and out behind clouds that day. And I was stopping in between each ride to change the device on my helmet. So the lighting was different in some of them. But regardless, if you are considering this product, you should first watch my review of the Sena 10c EVO: th-cam.com/video/W6QJfwg44dI/w-d-xo.html. This is the latest model, which replaced the 10c Pro. I find the color, dynamic range, and quality to be a big improvement on this one than on the 10c Pro. I also have a GoPro Hero 7, which has similar features to the version 8. The quality of the video on the GoPro Hero 7 or 8 is going to be slightly better than the Sena 10c EVO, although the EVO is very close. The main reason is because these GoPro models have excellent image stabilization, which makes the video quality much smoother than the Sena. This is the GoPro's biggest advantage. However, if you want to make commentary on your riding videos, there is no easy and elegant solution to get audio to the GoPro when mounted on your helmet. You have to use a $50 accessory, which is bulky with a converter box, and wires from the microphone. You can search TH-cam for videos on setting up a GoPro for moto vlogging. It's easy to attach a GoPro to your helmet if you just want to record the video without you talking. But if you want to also record your voice, it's not easy to set this up with a GoPro. This is why I prefer the Sena 10c EVO. Even though it doesn't have image stabilization in the camera, it has 4K recording, and recording the audio from your headset is already built in. On top of having a nice video recorder with the ability to record your voice, you also have a Bluetooth headset so you can listen to music, podcasts, or the directions from Google Maps on your phone. Plus you have the normal Intercom system to wirelessly talk to any of your friends that also have an Intercom system on their helmet. And last but not least, the Sena 10c EVO also has an FM radio built in to listen to music and other radio shows. So you can see there are many benefits to the Sena 10c EVO. But there is one benefit to the GoPro 7 or 8. Only you can decide which is more important for your needs. If you would like to watch one of my latest moto vlogging videos like this one from my trip to Mexico, you will see video clips from both the Sena 10c EVO as well as the GoPro Hero 7 in action: th-cam.com/video/CLTqqEgAH98/w-d-xo.html. I record video with both, plus also use my Galaxy S10 phone. But of course the comments I make during riding videos are recorded with the Sena 10c EVO. I hope this helps!
The recorded bit rate is appears low enough to introduce macro blocking in detail areas of scenes where there is a lot of movement. Are the clips recorded at highest bit rate the 10C can support?
Thanks Conrey. I do not believe you can change the bitrate on this device. It's been documented that TH-cam compression does a major disservice to the video footage from the Sena 10c Pro.
Thanks for the comment, Jay! I really love mine. If you decide to purchase one, I would truly appreciate you ordering it from my link in the notes: Sena 10c Pro - amzn.to/2MeHemo. It's our Amazon affiliate link, which doesn't pay much, but helps to support the time and effort it takes to make these video. I have a 10 C pro and am disappointed in that it picks up images of the side of my helmet and most of the electronics gear on my BMW R1200GS dashboard. Have I missed finding a zoom lens adjustment?
Hi gfwarren123! I personally sold my 10c Pro and upgraded to the 10c EVO, partly because I felt the 10c Pro angle of view was too wide. The 10c EVO has a slightly narrower field of view. Plus the image quality is noticeably improved!!! I wanted to mention you could always crop the video in post-production too. As long as you shoot in high enough resolution like 4k, you could zoom in a little bit during video editing to crop out the helmet, then simply export at 2.7k to retain all the detail, or up-rez to 4k on export. Hope this helps!
I like the idea of having an integrated cam and comms unit but the image quality leaves a lot to be desired. But then for the money this costs you really shouldn't expect great footage. If they incorporated the GoPro 5, 6 or 7 camera this would be an excellent product but then the cost would be at least double.
It's a decent review and since I do not have vid camera but do have a Sena 20s this would be a nice up grade. I was looking for how to post process the completed videos I guess I will have to continue to look around. I shoot landscape photography as a hobby. So I am aware of Photoshop and light room. I would give this camera to my wife but I do not want to have a price of editing software that is so difficult to use she will be pulling her hair out. Maybe you can suggest something simple to use for her to upload to her Facebook page. Thanks
Hi Robert! Thank you for your comment. I too am a photographer. I have the photographer's subscription to Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, which is only $10/month. I believe to add Adobe Premiere Pro is another $20/month. That was too expensive an option for me, since TH-cam is just a fun thing I do on the side for free. Instead, I waited until Adobe Premiere Elements 19 was released. Then I purchased Premiere Elements 18 when it went on sale. I think it was only $50-$60. The full version of Premiere Pro is extremely complex, like using Photoshop. Yet most of us photographers only use about 10% of its features. The "consumer" version of Premiere Elements has all the main features you need. Plus it's MUCH easier to learn and use. It even has a "Beginner" mode that walks you through editing a video, guiding you along the way. If you and your wife are already familiar with Adobe products, it would be easy to learn. Plus it's a popular editing software for consumers. Therefore, you can find many tutorials online to help you. A friend of mine also recommended DaVinci Resolve. It's completely free, and has plenty of great features to do all the editing most people would need. I hope this helps, my friend. Good luck! And if you get the Sena 10c Pro, I hope you'll buy it from my link to help support our channel. :-)
@@MotoPhotoAdventures So I realized that when my wife bought her Spyder from a private party he gave us new in the box a Cyclops Gear CGX2. I have been playing around with it and for what I want to do it will work fine, so I will not be buying the Sena product. However I have and Adobe monthly subscription that I have had for years and they are offering for free with the subscription Premier Rush CC. I have looked at some vids on line. Do you know anyone who has used it or have you tried it out? I may download it and try it out but I thought I would get some feed back if you have tried it out. Thanks
@@robertsimon6500 that's awesome that you got those Cyclops units for free. I haven't tried Rush out. But if it's free, what have you got to lose? Give it a whirl and let me know what you think! :-)
Hi Don! It's great to hear from you!!! The battery life is actually pretty impressive. I don't use the intercom a ton. But I can ride all day with the bluetooth on while I listen to streaming music and the voice commands of my gps. I only record video when I find something interesting, usually in short bursts. But I've heard it'll record continuously for several hours if you let it. Best part is, the Sena 10c Pro will continue to operate in all modes WHILE simultaneously being charged! I'm pretty sure that Kinga (check out "On Her Bike" youtube page) often records while her unit is plugged into her USB power outlet on the bike. I've also heard of riders who pop one of those cell phone batter packs into an inside pocket on their jacket and run a cable from there up to their Sena. Anyway, just wanted you to know if you think you'll be a heavy user, there are plenty of ways to keep it runny all day long without any trouble! Have you guys ever been to a Horizons Unlimited meetup? I'm riding to one in Virginia next month (been attending for several years now). But I'd love to attend the one in Ontario, Canada, sometime. If that ever happens, I'll let you know and we can meet up somewhere along the way!!! :-)
Chris Smith Thanks for the reply, Chris. I’ll check out Kinga’s channel. I have not been to any of the Horizons Unlimited gatherings. I’ll check them out as well. I’d love to meet up with you. I’ll check out the Virginia one, but April is pretty busy for us. We’re going to meet Emilia, Lauren’s new baby. Can’t wait to meet her, and give grandpa Doug a hard time.
First off... I love your name LOL! Second, that's one of the best Comparisons i've seen so far. I have to say that the 10c PRO looked the best very shocked on how bad the GoPro looked. I loved my 10c and I love my 10c PRO now. It fits my needs very well. The 10c PRO will not work with the Ear bud adapter yet. Thanks for sharing this Video.
Glad you enjoyed the review, Christopher. I like your name too! :-) Thanks for the kind words. It's great to hear from another happy Sena 10c PRO user!!!
"The 10c PRO will not work with the Ear bud adapter yet." - your kidding. They advertise the 10C-A0101 splitter as an accessory and it doesn't work? Deal breaker...
HI Christopher Smith. THERE IS A BUG. In the 10C Firmware revision 3.0.1. Its probably in the 10C PRO firmware as well. Try this: (1) Power up your 10C Pro. (2) With the earbuds connected to the splitter - Unplug and plug in the "Y" splitter from the Lower back of the 10C PRO and see if the earbuds now work. If this works let me know. With the 10C I restored the previous firmware (2.1.1) to make the earbuds work. With the 10C Pro I don't know if there is an earlier version of the Firmware to restore to. (?!?) Best Regards, SG
@@SempreGumby thanks for the heads up! I've never used the earbuds so this is a first for me. I'm traveling at the moment but will give it a try when I get home and report back. Thanks again for letting everyone know about this potential problem. Have you contacted Cena yet to let them know? Hopefully they can come up with a future firmware update that will resolve the issue.
Hi Chris. I contacted tech support and got a lady who was reading as script in English. Her accent was either Bangladesh or India so I have no idea if it actually got to Sena in So. Korea (??) I'm curious to see if my solution on the 10C fixes Christopher's problem with his 10C PRO. Hopefully he will see the reponces to his thread and get back to us... Sorry to hijack your thread but this seemed like a good place to get the word out. Thanks for your understanding.
10c picture quality was good but bounced around like a nervous cat on caffeine , hero had best stabilisation. leave them together in bed for a week with romantic music playing, and hopefully they have pups ---- that is what we are all waiting for.
HAHA!!! I love it, Colin in oz! Thanks for the fun comment. I totally agree! :-) By the way, I did review the latest version, the Sena 10c EVO: th-cam.com/video/W6QJfwg44dI/w-d-xo.html. I found the picture quality was a big improvement. But alas...still waiting on stabilization. Let me know what you think of that one!
Mmm... nah. I'm gonna have to stick with my GoPro. I like the convenience of having the 10C right on the helmet.. but at the same time, where else can you mount it. GoPro has mounts for just about everywhere. And what really threw me was in that first section of video in the shadows. They looked super purple. Was that all fringing?? And I can shoot higher fps. I like Sena. I've had their comms for years. But I'm not loving the camera. I'll stick to my Hero6 Blacks. FWIW, if I'm motovlogging, I record voice into my iPhone and just sync the two later in post (replacing the GoPro audio). I heard somewhere that a real audio recorder like the Zoom or Sony actually does better audio than the iPhone. When I get done paying off the new camera (and the one after that.. I want to get a 235mm film camera).. I'll probably jump on a recorder.
Thanks for the great comment, Chris! What a brilliant idea to just record your audio to a dedicated device. I've thought about getting this little Zoom F1 (amzn.to/2IhULuS) or this Tascam DR-10L (amzn.to/2EcW7mM) to use with recording my TH-cam videos. One of those might be perfect for you to wear on your belt and record to while riding! I do have a couple GoPro Session 5 cameras. And you're right, it is indeed nice to be able to mount them where you want to, instead of always being stuck in one spot. I still have a couple of my old 35mm SLR cameras. The Nikon F100 is a great one if you're still looking and can find it used in good shape. Enjoy!
Unfortunately you can't use this video as an accurate comparison of the different cameras. They all looked really pixelated because of the video format they were save to, which resulted in TH-cam over compressing the files.
It seems like the 10c pro has better image quality but the 10c has better color quality. I guess it's a good device if you don't want to go through the complicated GoPro 5-7 setup. you're still getting good resolution quality it's just going to be lacking and color a bit.
Thanks for the kind comment, Puellos. I totally agree about the increase in quality. As far as color, being a full-time professional photographer by trade, I find that to be more subjective and more adjustable issue. You can't "fix" an out of focus image. And you can't "increase" quality. But color, exposure, and saturation can be adjusted quite easily in post production, which is part of why I didn't address that at all in my review. Anyway, I'm glad you liked the video. Come back and watch more as we make them!
Hi Michal! I've never tested it. But I routinely use the headset to listen to music and podcasts on long all-day trips, often turning the camera on to record a fun section of the road, then turning it off to save battery power. If you intend to use it a lot (like as a dash-cam on an all-day ride), the good news is that they designed it to be able to continue recording WHILE CHARGING!!! How cool is that? If you have a USB charging port on your bike, you could plug it in and have it charging while you're riding. Or you could carry one of those small portable battery packs (often used to recharge cell phones) in your inside jacket pocket and run a cable up to the Sena 10c Pro to give it extended battery life. I hope this helps! If you decide to buy one, I would love it if you'd use my affiliate link for the headset and the memory card I use (which works great): Sena 10c Pro - amzn.to/2MeHemo Sandisk Extreme 64GB MicroSD - amzn.to/2SWX4o8. Thanks and enjoy!
You can film around 4 hours. I just back from my trip on a south of Thailand and use my new Sena 10c pro a lot. Battery 🔋 last whole riding day of lister music and talking by intercom and phone and record video. Ido video only when I see something intrresting! If you forge to charge it at night yoy will still have half next day usage. So you have to charge it every night! Quality of the sounds ia amazing, comfortable is stunning. I prefer 1080 60fr couse is much less jerking then 1440 30fr and quiality of a picture in not big differents! Check this out: th-cam.com/video/hiM56wyztEI/w-d-xo.html Dead snake on the road Sena show veey good!
It's 2 hours max if running the camera the whole time. Shorter if you also are using it for listening to music and communicating. Other TH-cam vloggers have said they remedy this by connecting a portable USB charger (they keep in their jacket pocket) to the 10c Pro (via a USB cable). One perk is you can use the 10c pro while charging it at the same time.
Hi Gert! Yes, as I discuss in the video, GoPro has stabilization and better image quality. But it's very cumbersome to get audio into your GoPro. The Sena is a full package that includes automatic audio recording, video, FM radio, bluetooth so you can listen to music, communicator to talk to other riders, etc. I am willing to sacrifice a little quality and picture stabilization in order to get the benefits of this full package. If you prefer GoPro and figuring out a way to add audio, that's OK too. Both are good options. To each their own!
You can charge the 10c Pro while you are using it. I saw some videos where people kept a portable usb charger in there jacket and ran a usb cable from that into the 10c Pro. Without that set up you get (at best) 2 hours recording time on the 10c pro.
Hi Lil Doom! It can pretty much record all day if you want it to. Of course the battery will die after a couple hours. But when I'm traveling and recording my trips like the Moto Photo Mexico adventure you'll find on my channel, I plug it into the USB port on my bike. This way, it never runs out of power. You can set it in "Loop" recording mode to let it constantly record as you ride. When I'm just commuting around town, I often set it to this mode to use it as a "dash-cam" in case someone ever hits me or cuts me off and I want the evidence. But on my trips, I usually set it in normal video mode where I press the button when I want to record something, and press it again to stop the recording. That way I record the interesting parts, and don't have to sift through hours of footage later when editing. Like all action camera, it has a 4GB file size limit. But it's no biggie. When the recording size reaches 4GB, it just starts a new file and continues the recording without even missing a single frame of footage. Hope this helps!
@@MotoPhotoAdventures thank you SO much chris, I've been looking and asking all over with no luck but you've managed to answer my question more than perfectly. Just to let you know, I recently sold my 10c Pro to a buddy of mine and purchased the 10c EVO. I like it even more than the 10c Pro! You can find my evaluation of the newer model on my channel as well. I had some concerns about the water-proofing of the new connection ports. The biggest drawback with the 10c and 10c pro is it lacks in any video stabilization. You can clearly see in your test videos where the GoPro video is much smoother and less jerky compared to the 10c/10c pro video.
That is very true! They did come out with the Sena 50c this year, which has stabilization. But it's only available at 1080P, not 4K. So I decided to take a pass in hopes that the next version has stabilization all the way up to 4K. The neat part about these though, is how easy it is to get the audio and synchronize the audio from multiple riders. Check out some of our epic ride videos like this one and you'll soon see how (stabilized or not) the Sena's are a great tool: th-cam.com/video/C_XZ6P3P5X8/w-d-xo.html. Using a GoPro as your POV camera is wonderful...unless you're also trying to get moto-vlog type audio. That's where the GoPros absolutely suck! Now you've got adapters and splitters and wires running all over your helmet. 😞 I just wish GoPro borrow some of Sena's audio options, or Sena would borrow some of GoPro's camera options!
@@MotoPhotoAdventures Thank you, yes being able to include the coms audio into the video is what is attracting me to the 10c Pro. I will check some of your other videos too!
@@ArcticJeff thanks brother! Hearing all the coms is half the entertainment of our videos as we say some pretty goofy s#^&. You should start with our "Crashes & Comedy" highlight real: th-cam.com/video/-zVK0fEoM-k/w-d-xo.html. 🤣
I have the 10c on my half helmet. It was the first TH-cam video I did on my Channel. It can be done and i was happy with my results. I have redone it since that video.
Thanks I'm thinking I will go ahead and try it. I was just worried about the wind noise and how the mic would work. I haven't seen much on them when used with half helmets. Nice video on your page....camera is a lot clearer than I thought it would be.
@@latt355 I say Go For It! Sena has pretty good noise and Wind reduction and depending on what type of bike you ride and what type of Windshield you have (If any) plays a big factor as well. Some say that they get less wind from there half helmet compared to a full face helmet. Reason being is that the 10c has to pick up Noise/Wind to reduce it and thats what the little Mic is for on the bottom of the device. Hope you enjoy it and fill free of any Questions.
Hi Latt! I agree with Christopher. I have a friend that uses a half-helmet. He doesn't seem to have any trouble. Of course it might also depend on what kind of wind screen your bike has (or doesn't have). You'll definitely want to use the boom mic. The 10c Pro kit includes both a boom mic attachment and a wired lavalier mic attachment.
Would you happen to know if the 10C Pro mount is compatible with the 20S mount? I have several helmets with mounts and it would be nice if they were compatible
Hi spitfire1521. Yes it can! That's actually one of the best features about the product. Unfortunately, I usually ride alone. So I didn't discuss it in my review. But many others have commented that they love that part about the Sena10c Pro.
Hi Yamahachooper! I'm so sorry you were having trouble getting the WiFi to connect. I find that when I have trouble, if I go to the phone's connection settings, toggle the WiFi off, wait 30 seconds or so, and turn the WiFi back on, sometimes that clears out any issues. Then just follow the steps again to connect and it should work. Hope this helps!
@@yamahchopper my pleasure! Sorry it took me so long. I was gone on an adventure to Mexico and back for most of a month. :-) Anyway, glad you got it all figured out.
If you want viewer to compare 1080 vs 1440 vs 1520 fps you need to post this video in the highest resulution. GoPro has a better image stabalizer. 1080 at 30 fps is to "bumpy"
I'm sorry you had trouble with yours, Chris! I never had any trouble with my original 10c, and I haven't experienced any problems with my new 10c Pro. I don't connect to a lot of my riding buddies. But I regularly connect with a handful of close friends who use the 20s and 10c models. Sorry I couldn't offer more assistance. Maybe others on here could share their input and experiences?
Hi M! It still lasts quite a long time. I sold it to my friend, who is riding on this trip with me: th-cam.com/video/An4qcy9X4ZM/w-d-xo.html. This episode was filmed over a 12-hour day of riding some tough roads. He had my old Sena 10c Pro. I had the new Sena 10c EVO. And our other friend had the original Sena 10c. We keep them on all the time to talk to each other, only recording video when we see something interesting. They usually last until lunch. After lunch we plug them in to the USB ports on our bikes and they charge up while we use them the rest of the day. If you don't have a USB port on your bike, sometimes I plug mine into a USB Power Bank that I keep inside my jacket pocket, which works great also. The Senas charge themselves even while they are on and you are using them, which is great!
Hi Chris, Great video. I am so happy you have terrible music and make it sound like the rest are lying :-) We have over 175 video now, NOT a pro like you but now feel so much better you get hammered the same as I do. ;-) Good job. We ARE resellers of SENA product and it IS SO HARD to get riders to believe you. Richard RKA
Thanks, Oleg! I've had the 10c Pro a long time. I'm planning to upgrade to the 10c Evo soon. It does not have stabilization. But you're right, there does seem to be a big improvement in quality. I'll do a full review and comparison when I get it!
@@MotoPhotoAdventures to be honest im a bit upset on Sena! They released 10c pro a year ago and after one year Evo! Pro suppose to be like Evo couse is very small improvement in a camera 📷 case! I think I will skip for next gen probably
First time I watched one of your videos. Very nice explanations. Thanks for your sharing your opinion on this product. But I have to mentioned that my first thought was: “where the hell is he walking to? Guy just buried a corpse in the wood”😂 Like button pressed and subscribed too.
@@paulson9616 yes it is. The original was 10c. Then the 10c Pro came out offering slight improvements. (If the original looked sharper than the pro in my video, it may have just been from TH-cam's compression algorithm.) After the 10c Pro came the 10c EVO, which I'm currently using. This has recently been replaced with the Sena 50c. It offers 4k, image stabilization, and a new "mesh" communication system. I may upgrade to the 50c sometime. But for now, the 10c EVO still does a great job!
@@paulson9616 I would definitely go with the EVO over previous generations. It's the best "value" right now. It's more affordable than the 50c and has all the features you "need". If money is no object,, however, I'd go with the 50c to get the latest bells and whistles.
My review summary: The Sena 10c Pro ALMOST makes enough excuses for it's price tag. If it was £100 cheaper it would make a whole bunch more sense, for the price you're paying I'd expect native 4K instead I feel like I've been given a long list of excuses in mounting space and modesty as to why I should buy it. I've had the 10c pro since release. Little tip before you searching everywhere on the internet, the wifi pass is 0000. I used a Bluetooth of similar size for satnav and music before buying the 10c pro and that's all I've used the 10c pro for up to now, reason being it always cuts out when trying to record after say 10 minutes still with battery. Then there is the wifi issue. When I try downloading footage from the 10c pro to the phone app it takes a very long time then cuts off. This isn't meant to out right diss the 10c pro I'm going to spend today trouble shooting these issues and I'm confident there will be fixes. But this is an issue for something of an all rounder it's quite laboursome to iron out it's initial bull shit. To me the pro's of the actual pro 10c are in the dynamic use, it excels in being a media hub something bikers don't have. My argument for buying this is the memory of a time when every electrical devise had it's own charging cable hah and what a pain it was, the unity of having, coms, Bluetooth for music, GPS etc, cam, sound, radio and wifi with app is great. I'll be getting an action cam on top of this no doubt but I need bluetooth so I'll still be using it for that, sound and music/video mix. In closing one of the prime aspects of the PRO is it's black, small and descreet look. I want to moto vlog without spelling it out on my head and I believe this device had the market closed up in that regard, This could have been a whole leap forward for new and shy riders m not wanting a massive go PRO on their helmet, but they read up and arnt daft. What could have been a leap forward is a jack of all trades and back up cam.
Thanks for the great comment, Darling I'm Blind. Excellent tips. I enjoyed my 10c Pro without any of the power issues you had. Finally sold it and upgraded to the 10c EVO, which I think is fantastic! You might consider the same if you want that 4K.
That's very true. And the Sena 10c EVO (which is the replacement for the 10c Pro) has even better image quality! Check it out: th-cam.com/video/W6QJfwg44dI/w-d-xo.html. And you're right...it would be nice if these devices had stabilization. But when you consider all the other features they've crammed into this one product (4k video, easy audio recording, bluetooth to your phone for navigation or listening to music, intercom between fellow riders, FM radio, etc.), I can see why it hasn't been possible yet. Hopefully they see all the comments asking for that feature and are able to put it into the next iteration! :-)
P.S. Check out some of our adventure videos to see how we incorporate the audio from our 10c EVO intercoms, video from the 10c EVO "helmet cam", and video from our GoPro Hero 8 to seamlessly tell the complete story: th-cam.com/video/1VEIR0jVbr0/w-d-xo.html
I use the SENA Tube camera and a GoPro. Both work well but when I am riding and making safety checks; a helmet camera is, how do you say it, puke inducing! Nothing against the SENA 10C Pro but all helmet cameras are shaky.
You make a great point, MrEye4get. Any recording device attached to our helmet, which is bubbling around and getting buffeted by the wind, is going to be hard to keep smooth and steady. :-)
I really enjoyed my original 10c as well, David. The newer 10c EVO offers higher resolution and less pixilation in the videos. But I have a friend who still uses the original 10c and still loves it. If you don't need more resolution, keep on rockin' it!
I'm with you, Soon! As I mention in the video, I wish it had better video, and had image-stabilizer, like GoPro has had for a couple years now. They are missing the mark when it comes to video. But all the other handy features make it a cool all-in-one solution.
I would rather pay for a a 10c pro get everything I need than pay the same price just for a square cube cam that I would have to by more just to make it water resistant use a mic in my helmet. All in all the sena 10c pro is still better than any gopro when it comes to its intended use
I'm not sure, Asdf Jkl. Most likely it is something in the TH-cam compression. When I view the footage between the two on my monitor before uploading, the pro is definitely better. I guess you just have to play with your export settings?
Buying 10cpro was one of biggest mistakes i ever made product, quality, features, customer service and Especially battery time does not justify price Tag .10c pro it not best at anything
Hi RK! I'm so sorry you weren't happy with your 10c Pro. It's definitely not the best device at any given thing. The video quality isn't perfect. It doesn't have stabilization. But I found it to be the best "jack-of-all-trades" for me. I enjoyed it so much that I upgraded to the Sena 10c EVO for the higher resolution camera and new design when it came out. I sold my old 10c Pro to a friend of mine. He still uses it to this day without any issues. In fact, we went riding together yesterday and he got some great footage of me riding through some muddy trails. :-) The battery is adequate for short rides. But for long-distance trips, I simply carry a small USB power bank inside my jacket pocket, which I run up and plug into the device. Or I plug in the cigarette lighter cable to the outlet on my handlebars. By doing this, the Sena runs ALL DAY without any trouble! I agree Sena doesn't have the best reputation for customer service. However, I purchased mine through Revzilla, which easily has the greatest customer service on the planet! My first Sena 10c EVO had an electrical issue, which I discovered a month or two after getting it. Revzilla replaced it immediately with a new one, which is working perfectly! Anyway, I totally respect your opinion, and completely understand this device isn't perfect for everyone. But I still enjoy mine! :-)
Hi @@onesimpleclik. Yes it can! I do it all the time. It also comes with a cable that plugs into a cigarette lighter outlet. My bike has one of those on it. So I can also plug into that while I'm riding so that it is constantly charging. I never have to worry the battery running low, and can record all day if I want to.
The old Sena 10c is heaps better than the 10c pro. I find the footage is not as good. Ya know when your spending $500 on a camera you expect it to be right.
@@dynamadnessadventures205 I can see your perspective. The 10c and 10c Pro utilize the same exact mounting hardware. So I recorded a ride past the park with each. I know the compressed footage on TH-cam is useless for comparison. But in reviewing the footage, I found the pro to be noticeably sharper. Not "significantly" sharper as I'd hoped. But to my naked eye, I could see a small difference. So I kept the 10c Pro, which I paid $315 for at my local Cycle Gear store when I asked if they'd give me a cash discount. Then I sold my old one for $150. If I had paid $500 for it, I wouldn't be happy either. But having essentially paid $165 after the sale of my old one, I'm happy with the minor upgrade. Plus, it's all black, which matches my helmet better. :-)
@@MotoPhotoAdventures Agreed If they released this 1 or 2 years back then i'll hold my words back, but this Sena 10c Pro is just a minor upgrade, doesn't worth to pay the extra money just for the Wifi feature...
sorry but.. let's see what the real differences are.... your audio n video... was not in sync....not even close...so I had to move on to try and find a another video...nothing personal... but that's just bad/lazy editing.. so I can't take your review serious... But hey on the positive note keep the rubber side down and ride your ride.
I have both the 10c and the 10c PRO and I can tell you the differences are Night and Day favoring the 10c PRO. If you are thinking about an "All-in-One" device, the 10c PRO is the one.
Nice review. You forgot to mention it can record audio when on group / intercom and calls. That can be so cool for trips.
Thanks for the excellent comment, Fawad! You're absolutely correct. It can be a lot of fun to hear all the fun chatter with your friends when you ride together. :-)
Yea it is, and this option is really cool 🏂. Check this out how is work as part of the movie:
th-cam.com/video/cAO6QHRAmMM/w-d-xo.html
From the last side by side comparison it look like the Sena 10C had more color balance "out of the box"
I have an old Hero4 and found a setup on YT from an off-road biker and at 60fps is a big difference. Not so jagged etc. (Not sure what it is called)
Thank you for the video!
Enjoy!!!

Thanks for a great review. I have to fully agree with it. Take it for what it is and what it brings: ease of use. For non vloggers that will not reproduce in youtube and still want to have an awesome sena intercom, this is simply unbeatable.
Thanks for the kind comment, Oswaldo! I'm glad you enjoyed the review. I hope you'll subscribe to the channel for more great videos to come! :-)
So, a year later. What's your assessment of the sena 10c pro now?
Great review/video Chris! Thank you!
You're very welcome, Bob! Thanks for the encouraging comment.
Awesome review man...
Thank you so much, Jerry! That's very kind of you.
You can always sell the TomTom and still get a 10cPro! :-)
Can we say it all together: "Intuitive."
Please offer to sell me a GoPro 7 Black in a Sena form with a built in 3.5mm microphone jack, weatherproof, which can be charged while shooting, and with the GPS data selectable on image.
@@DoomFinger511 that's great to know!!!
Very nice video!!! Thanks for your work.
Thanks Willie!
Chris - thank you for sharing. I recently ordered a 10C Pro. Re the video comparisons, I couldn’t see much of a difference. Am I blind?
Awesome review... thanks for helping me decide.

Sena 10c Pro
Carlos Sevilla good man, I’ve got my eyes on that also.
Great video! Can you tell me if you can record video, talk on the intercom and listen to music simultaneously?
@@MotoPhotoAdventures Thank you very kind regards from Argentina
@@stinmario You're very welcome! I was just in Cartagena, Colombia, last week. Hopefully someday I can make it to see your beautiful country as well!!!
Video tagging length is adjustable I believe. Mine is set at -1 minute/+5 minutes.
Video is better than the old 10C and the GoPro, but no stabilization makes it a non-starter. Sena, what were you thinking?

Thanks for posting.
You're very welcome! I recently upgraded from the Sena 10c Pro to the Sena 10c EVO, which I like even better!!! Here's a link: th-cam.com/video/W6QJfwg44dI/w-d-xo.html. I hope it helps.
Are you able to regognize numberplates with the 10c Pro? That's one of the major reasons i would like a camera, for when something goes wrong. :)
I totally agree. Still trying to figure out how to keep my videos from being screwed over by TH-cam compression when I upload. :-(
Question: How well protected is the lens on the Sena 10c Pro from flying debris such as small pebbles, bugs, etc.
@@MotoPhotoAdventures Thanks Chris!
The 10c quality is much better to me 👍🏾. Will be investing in one.
Do you know you can rotate the lens of the camera to aim it left and right?
I totally agree, Shane!
badass music at the end
Thanks Daniel!!!
@@MotoPhotoAdventures Very possibly. youtube compression sucks.it can really ruin the impressing of a video.
Great review, Cuz. How’s the battery life, especially when using the intercom and camera simultaneously? Hope to ride with you soon...
Nice review.
I'm glad you liked it, Ismail. Thanks for the kind comment!
As you said this is what the ORIGINAL product should have been. Why do companies make corrections of mistakes and then call those upgrades?
I totally agree, Dennis! Thanks for the comment.
So they can update it a bit and sell it at a new price.
@@benjaminjwilson6694 that is too true!!! :-)
Try this:
(1) Power up your 10C Pro.
Best Regards,
SG
I'm having problems getting my Galaxy 3 photo to upload an photos to any thing
Hi Yamahchopper! I'm sorry I'm not familiar with that product. Wish I could help!
@@MotoPhotoAdventures thanks! There's gotta be some setting in my phone ugh
@@MotoPhotoAdventures Yes you are 100% correct on the post production part. i agree!
How long can you film without charging battery?
If you decide to buy one, I would love it if you'd use my affiliate link for the headset and the memory card I use (which works great): Sena 10c Pro - amzn.to/2MeHemo
Sandisk Extreme 64GB MicroSD - amzn.to/2SWX4o8. Thanks and enjoy!
@@MotoPhotoAdventures Thank You. Your answer is very useful for me.

Dead snake on the road Sena show veey good!
Thank you for your comment,@@olegyd. It's nice to hear other people's experiences!
I think the picture stabilizer is way better at gopro... though I am playing with the option to get a 10c pro...
If you wanna make movies buy a go pro. If you want a dash cam and Bluetooth buy Sena.....
Sir.
Can we replace Sena 10c pro Battery with new one If old one get out of order ?
I do not believe the battery is replaceable. You will want to contact Sena support department to find out.
no… built on
You can with the 10c original, I have done but Sena don’t like it but it’s very easy! I expect the inside to be the same
@@TheDanDoolittle thanks for the great tip!
You can charge the 10c Pro while you are using it. I saw some videos where people kept a portable usb charger in there jacket and ran a usb cable from that into the 10c Pro. Without that set up you get (at best) 2 hours recording time on the 10c pro.
How long can you record? Does the recording cut off after a certain amount of minutes??
I'm hoping to go and pick one up today for some motovlogging. So now I'm 10x more excited.

Any idea how the 10C Pro or the 10C would do on a half helmet, specifically bike to bike communication?
I have the 10c on my half helmet. It was the first TH-cam video I did on my Channel. It can be done and i was happy with my results. I have redone it since that video.
O, BTW i'm not this Chris Smith on this channel.

I'm having a hard time getting the Wi-Fi to connect and help?
Hi Yamahachooper! I'm so sorry you were having trouble getting the WiFi to connect. I find that when I have trouble, if I go to the phone's connection settings, toggle the WiFi off, wait 30 seconds or so, and turn the WiFi back on, sometimes that clears out any issues. Then just follow the steps again to connect and it should work. Hope this helps!

If you want viewer to compare 1080 vs 1440 vs 1520 fps you need to post this video in the highest resulution. GoPro has a better image stabalizer. 1080 at 30 fps is to "bumpy"
Thanks for the nice comment, Lars! I appreciate your feedback and plan to start recording at 1440 with 60fps in the future.

@@MotoPhotoAdventures thanks for the reply
Any time, my friend! Glad to be of help.
Battery still last 1.5 hours?
The Senas charge themselves even while they are on and you are using them, which is great!
from the reviews I have seen, it just doesn't look good because of the image stabilization. I can't use it.
I hear you, Denny! For a 2019 product, they really need image stabilization and 4K. :-( Other than that, I love the product!

It looks though 10c has a clear frame compared to 10c pro.
The 10c EVO is even better. Here is my review, comparing the new 10c EVO with the old Sena 10c Pro: th-cam.com/video/W6QJfwg44dI/w-d-xo.html.
@@MotoPhotoAdventures so pls educate me, Evo is newer than pro?
@@paulson9616 yes it is. The original was 10c. Then the 10c Pro came out offering slight improvements. (If the original looked sharper than the pro in my video, it may have just been from TH-cam's compression algorithm.) After the 10c Pro came the 10c EVO, which I'm currently using. This has recently been replaced with the Sena 50c. It offers 4k, image stabilization, and a new "mesh" communication system. I may upgrade to the 50c sometime. But for now, the 10c EVO still does a great job!
@@MotoPhotoAdventures so if available, I should get the Evo then?
@@paulson9616 I would definitely go with the EVO over previous generations. It's the best "value" right now. It's more affordable than the 50c and has all the features you "need". If money is no object,, however, I'd go with the 50c to get the latest bells and whistles.
The Sena was clearer and brighter
Thanks QuietStormX! I appreciate your comment.
Go Pro was smoothest because of image stabilization but Video Quality between 10C Pro and Go Pro seemed comparable. 10c.. meh.
Cool bananas

GoPro was infinitely cleaner. But it does take forever to setup.
Thanks for the comment, Yogi Bear. You are absolutely right! Too bad we can't have it both ways...yet!!! :-)
Not required. I am happy with my sony action camera
That's great! Different tools work for different people. As long as it works for you, that's all that matters! :-)
10c is the best
I really enjoyed my original 10c as well, David. The newer 10c EVO offers higher resolution and less pixilation in the videos. But I have a friend who still uses the original 10c and still loves it. If you don't need more resolution, keep on rockin' it!
Sena took more than 3 years to develop this 10C Pro, but the video quality is still as bad as the old one.
@@dragonryderzx14r Depends on the intended use. Joy filming, sure, but for MotoVlogs, quality rules. Clean 4k video makes other vlogs look like trash.
if 10c pro is better, why does the 10c video look better, is it youtube upload compression data loss
@@MotoPhotoAdventures can the 10c be plugged into a powerbank and charging, while it's being used?
Hi @@onesimpleclik. Yes it can! I do it all the time. It also comes with a cable that plugs into a cigarette lighter outlet. My bike has one of those on it. So I can also plug into that while I'm riding so that it is constantly charging. I never have to worry the battery running low, and can record all day if I want to.
Don’t waste your money on the 10c pro
I wish it was better than it was. But for me, it's the simplest all-in-one solution on the market right now.
@@MotoPhotoAdventures Agreed
If they released this 1 or 2 years back then i'll hold my words back, but this Sena 10c Pro is just a minor upgrade, doesn't worth to pay the extra money just for the Wifi feature...
sorry but.. let's see what the real differences are.... your audio n video... was not in sync....not even close...so I had to move on to try and find a another video...nothing personal... but that's just bad/lazy editing.. so I can't take your review serious...
But hey on the positive note keep the rubber side down and ride your ride.
I have both the 10c and the 10c PRO and I can tell you the differences are Night and Day favoring the 10c PRO. If you are thinking about an "All-in-One" device, the 10c PRO is the one.
My apologies. I'm new to video editing. Did the best I could. Still learning and will get better as I go. Thanks for stopping by!
Holy cow, that music at the end was terrible!
Ahhh...so sorry, my friend. I'll do better next time! :-)
If u dont have one at all why would u even get a 10c cuz is the same God dammm price lol
That's a good point, Daniel.
The truth about it? Lol. It’s just another review. Made it sound like the rest where telling lies. Lol. Oh man.
Sorry about that, Rams...just trying to find a clever title.
