    I have a 2012 Subaru Impreza. One of the 2 remotes does not allow the car to start. The other is good. Could this be the issue before I tear it apart? thx

    • @Mechautoinsight
      @Mechautoinsight 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Probably not as the starting issue could be related to programming via the chip inside the remote.

    I owned and constantly rode a 1973 GT 750, and I really miss that Bike, because there wasn't any new 1987 1200cc motorcycle that could even come close to outrunning My GT... No other 380, 500 or 750cc 2-Stroke had the wonderful exhaust sound like the GT 750 either.

    Hi, before finding this video I replaced the battery on my 10C in the same way as what I see in the video. But the Sena turns on and off immediately, even if you replace the original battery it no longer charges. First red LED then blue then turns off. Can anyone give me info on this? Thanks in advance

    • @alexcassie6188
      @alexcassie6188 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I changed my battery and I get a similar issue. I believe the inter-board connectors are very fragile and are not making good connections any more. If I press down over the top connector I can get the unit to stay powered on.

    They were nicknamed "Kettles" here in the UK due to the water cooling which wasn't that common back then. People nowadays tend to associate 2 strokes with small, step though scooter type machines and gems like this beauty are all but forgotten about. With proper maintenance and quality oils etc, 2 strokes can be just as reliable and long lived as 4 strokes, plus you get the sound and the power band!😀👍👍👍👍👍

    • @Mechautoinsight
      @Mechautoinsight ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree Phil. Having Roadraced 2 strokes and 4 strokes over a 40 year period, and now owning a Suzuki T250 Hustler, my affection for these motors has not diminished.

      It's been a while and I no longer have the car but if you look at 1:42, it appears to be clipped over the existing mirror. It will depend on which unit you buy I guess.

    The original bike tests at the time said it was as quick as the 2 stroke Kawasaki despite it being much heavier. The fan on the early model was made redundant in later models as it wasn’t necessary. Get rid of that front drum brake asap😳. I preferr the later model.

    • @Mechautoinsight
      @Mechautoinsight ปีที่แล้ว

      The drum can be adjusted to work really well. BTW early Yamaha TZ came with drum brake and all were discarded. Try buying one now. Collectors item.

    Noticed your comment on a headliner repair video for the 840. Any tips/links on thin material used for sunroof so it wouldnt get stuck?

    • @Mechautoinsight
      @Mechautoinsight ปีที่แล้ว

      I used Alcantara to replace the headliner. I purchased a 2mm thick black closed cell foam rubber sheet for the backing for Alcantara. I recall gIueing the Alcantara direct to the sunroof slider to ensure it was as thin as possible. Hope this helps. Where are you located?

    I'm trying to put a camera in a 2015 C4. I connected the camera power to the reverse light power cable...but this caused an issue. Now when I put it in reverse, the camera works for 5 seconds then it turns off and I get a warning message to check the reverse light bulb. The car obviously senses the power draw is higher than it should be and shuts the system off....we're only talking about a few watts. Now I have to find another way to trigger the camera.

    • @Mechautoinsight
      @Mechautoinsight ปีที่แล้ว

      The reverse light power is only for the camera trigger on/off. The camera power comes from a switched 12v. Watch from 29 sec. and you will see where I explain selecting the power and earth. This power cable is run all the way from the cig lighter power to the camera at the rear. Hope this helps.

    Absolute mint video had the exact problem with the exact same car, i first just watched your video to see how to get to the battery, the clip seemed ok so changed the battery and it was good for about a month then wouldn't work pulled it apart and this time the clip had become detached from the PCB so soldered it up and good as gold! I see one guy on here said Subaru quoted $300 for a new key so you saved me from that without your video i would of been to afraid to pull it apart for fear wrecking it, thanks so much, everything was explained perfectly.

    Hi there, Could you please explain, how did you access the wires of the reverse light please? Many thanks in advance! Jesse

    • @Mechautoinsight
      @Mechautoinsight ปีที่แล้ว

      At the end of the video it shows the connection at the reversing light housing. Access is from beneath the rear of the car. Go to the reversing light. Lay below the car and look up and you will see the reversing light housing and the cables entering it.

    • @Mechautoinsight
      @Mechautoinsight ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jess-ib5pj it's been too long and I no longer have the car but I don't believe I removed anything external. I think the reversing light lives above that cover. You will probably have to raise the car to get a better look.
