  • Hello and welcome to the second episode of the 4th season of Adventure Now!
    In this episode we visit Peterhead and sail Altor of Down, a Moody 44, across Pentland Firth at not the most favourable state of the tide. Albeit, we make it to Orkney and land first in St. Mary's bay when we visit the amazing work of art that is the Italian Chapel and see on the Churchill Barriers.
    The following day we sail to Scapa Bay and explore beautiful town of Kirkwall with a cathedral built of sand stone.
    We move on to Pegal Bay at the Island of Hoy for a couple of days to shelter from the wind and have a trip ashore to discover derelict buildings, an awesome pub where time magically froze, and visit the Lyness Royal Naval Cemetery.
    Filmed in 2023 using a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000, DJI Mavic Pro, a Rhode microphone and edited with iMovie.

      Hi Jesus :) Thanks so much for watching and as always - great to hear from you! Indeed, after having to motor a lot to get to Peterhead, it was awesome to have the sails up and enjoying a wind-powered adventuring. Orkney eluded us for a while, but it was worth the wait, these islands are truly magical with all the amazing places and positive energy permeating this part of the world. Had the privilege of diving SMS Markgraf a König class Battleship part of the German High Seas Fleet scuttled in Scapa Flow in June 1919. When I arrived on the wreck I thought I was on the seabed until my eyes adjusted to the light. I could see equally placed lumps sticking out from what I thought was the seabed it was then I realised it was rivets stretching into the distance and I was on the upturned hull.

    Glad to see you enjoyed Orkney, especially the Highland Park, my favorite dram, shop! Did you manage to get to the Scapa Museum at Lyness? My late father worked there when I was tiny and my first memories are of Hoy. A special place, that I will sail to once Aphrodite is back in the water.

    Agree one of the best marina teams I’ve met and town is great fun plenty of proper old school pubs if you’re up for it. What time did you hit the skerries? No wind over tide?

    • @AdventureNow
      @AdventureNow  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello. Thank you for watching and commenting. Yes, we like the pubs there too!
      There wasn’t much wind on that day and we left with about an hour of the ebb left so we had a gentle exit! 😀
