As a Buchan loon brought up in Old Deer near the ancient abbey and who attended Peterhead Academy this video stirred so many memories for me. Thank you so much for posting it. Oh, and I can still lapse into broad Doric every time I come back.

    Fit like ma loon?
I have been exiled in Corby, England for the past 62 years. This is making me homesick for the BLOO TOON.
One day I'm hoping to get the family " back home" for a road trip.

Thanks for this! My ancestral home! I visited for the first time in 2008 and went right to the harbor, where my grandfather and his father built barrels for the fishing boats. Other family worked in the quarries. These videos only make me want to go back again!

In the northeast and other parts of Scotland we still also use old English words, "oot" comes from the old English word "ut"as does "wrang".

Well done - beautifully filmed - and I will watch the others. My mother's family came from Peterhead before emigrating to New Zealand. So I wanted to know what it was like and its history. My grandmother used to ask if I would like jam on my "piecie.". I asked other kids what they had on their "piecies," and they didn't know what I meant so then I knew to use "sandwiches" instead!!

I love that these videos are being viewed world over! You'll have to get yourself a fine buttery! A proper piecie from yer true homeland. Butteries are what the fisherman used to take away with them to keep them going on the long trips. Because of the high salt and fat content, they never went bad. Cana beat a warm buttery on a cold morning.

@apathlessknown Will definitely have to try one next time I'm over! I've been to Aberdeen by train, but not to Peterhead. I was lucky to get a fine blue day and the stonework glistened in the sun, but I hear it's a pretty wet climate.I grew up with "The Broons" and "Oor Wullie" too. Nothing like a Saturday morning tucked up in bed reading the latest one as a kid with a hot Milo (chocolate).

Fantastic video!! My only request is that you turn the background music down a little please, its lovely but at times it was overpowering your voice. Keep up the good work and i look forward to your next video!

Worked up there a few years back in the lunar factory on the harbour...bloo toons were fishermans stockings so someone from there told me...up the road you have the "broch"..fraserburgh.

      Bluemogners are natives of Peterhead.
Moggans were the blue coloured socks the whaling crews used to wear.

    • @apathlessknown

Im from Peterhead. I've toned my real accent down a bit for these videos.

@@apathlessknown I made that comment about half way through the video - at the very end when you stopped narrating it was clear is was Aberdeenshire haha (I'm from Aberdeen and couldn't place the accent lol). Again, great video and can't wait for more!
