Was just looking at ways to upgrade this deck, and found a cheap and super interesting version in this build! I'm gonna try to cut all the expensive cards and see if it still works :) Also, I'd like to wish for a Falthis/jeska brew! I find them a pretty unique combo and does not have a lot of videos on it. Falthis gives jeskas -X deathtouch, and she can give him x3 damage to swing huge! You could even play obosh as a companion since they are both 3 cmc! Would be super fun to see what list you would play :)
Damn right! I feel bad for Sram, one of the very few viable monowhite commanders out there. He just got so epically outclassed. To the point where you can just change a Sram deck into a Galea deck (thus significantly improving it) and then just keep Sram in the 99.
I'm definitely liking her as a pretty casual but also powerful deck. Will be hard to make her super competitive as staples will take slots for equipment/auras, but I never thought of storming off like this. Very neat!
Thanks! Glad you liked it! Yeah, Ugin is definitely great for this deck. Not only does it reduce the cost of most artifacts by 2 but he can also be used to get rid of the top card of your library if you haven't activated him yet.
Galea is strong, which is why you'll get ganged up on. Making the deck more resilient makes it lose gas in terms of storming off. My suggestion is, if that's your meta, remove the cards that prize you for storming off and just make the deck more like a 3-colored Sram than a GWU storm deck.
Ok, so a correction for you sorta. The bloodforged battle-axe actually works even better. So if you read her ability it actually gives the equipment that ability, so when you create copies of the axe, they'll also have that text... That's the way i understood it anyways
@@TheCommanderTavern I'm stoked for this commander, it's super powerful. You can use hyper powerful equipment and use auras that are single target removal. You've really got me thinking about the possibility of raising the power level a bit, putting in the top deck manipulating cards and the cost reducers
@@monomanamaniac Oh definitely! I just use the same instant speed responses for my deck but once you're able to flash in auras, you can keep storming off the top of your library while simultaneously removing threats as well. That'd be insane. You can also add better equipment sacrificing low casting cost as a trade for higher value.
I love the stratification between card costs here ($), you’ve got some sweet jank unplayable in other decks and then some $50+ cards like Urza, crypt etc. Fetches seem strong in this deck to help fix top decks
Thanks! Yeah, the fetches help out with thinning the deck of lands since it's not ideal to get caught with a land on top of the library since it has the potential to shut down going off.
@@TheCommanderTavern yes, loading up on fetches for shuffle effects seems good. Also Curious what you think about Cemetery Illuminator and the new toys for galea about to be printed-The Reality Chip and Lion Sash. The latter two seem stormable and on brand for your build.
@@JustRightPinedo I don't like that Cemetery Illuminator can only be done once per turn. But The Reality Chip can potentially find a home in it, even though it still needs mana to be cast. The Lion Sash is some great graveyard hate tech that just happens to be an equipment, which is great. These two don't slow the main strategy of the deck that much but can still push it further.
You can definitely include them if you want. I just didn't want to dilute my deck too much with spells I can't cast off of the top with Galea so as to maximize the odds of being able to cast as many as possible to storm off.
Curious if you think smugglers copter works well here (triggers Sram, Can crew for 1, hold an artifact for a turn, and draw you a block from your top deck).
Smuggler's Copter is definitely an interesting card but it'll only ever draw you a card once per turn since the trigger is on attack. So it'd remain to be seen just how useful it could be in the grander scheme of things.
So I really like this brew, I was just wondering exactly what are we storming into, like how do you win from casting all the spells? I'm just wondering like, do you wait a turn, and just swing out with a huge board state or something. I know in my play group, too many people run a ton of boardwipes.
You don't have to wait an extra turn if you give haste to your biggest attacker(s). So you can end a player rather quickly. Also, some cards have you create a ton of tokens when casting artifacts. If you're unable to give them haste that same turn then you'd have to wait a whole turn. But afterwards it's game over. If your meta has a lot of boardwipes, then I suggest finding a slot for Aetherflux Reservoir and just end opponents that way after you storm off.
I like this deck build, but what about cards like Aura of Silence, Thalia and other similars ? 😖 I think that need some cards for a little responses, cyclonic rift is not suficient
Glad you like it! Which Thalia? Thalia makes noncreature spells cost 1 more so we don't want that. Well, the deck is meant to storm off, which is why there's little in the way of other responses. We want go off fast and not get stuck behind anything. That's just the risk involved in storm deck like this one.
@@TheCommanderTavern (Thalia cmc2) I think that add 2-3 cards for responses to this scenarios probably makes it will work better (dispatch, swords to plowshares, force of vigor or nature's claim)
@@nicolasalexanderlopezosori5015 The 2 CMC Thalia is the one that makes all noncreature spells cost 1 more, which would nonbo hard with the deck. Force of Vigor is definitely a good one but it might be a trifle hard to cast for free since most of the deck is colorless. But instant speed effects like that that can hit multiple targets is always good. Very true that the deck is low on removal - especially when I advocate so adamantly that decks should run responses. But this deck is meant to outpace those decks. This is why Tidal Barracuda is included - to protect our turn. While it is possible that other players can stop the other combo player from winning, the "philosophy" of the deck is, if you're faster, you deserve the win. That being said, you could take out the colored equipment (Belt of Giant Strength and Giant's Amulet) and add in Swan Song and Negate, since these colored equipment aren't free off the top. Since you are drawing into a ton of cards, drawing into these 2 counterspells should be eventual (same with Cyclonic RIft). You could also potentially find slots for Generous Gift and Beast Within. So it's not that difficult to tailor it to faster metas. Hope that helps!
