Close, I'm planning on doing actually nothing next time, since a few people thought "nothing" meant literally nothing. No pyro flame, no consumables, no dragon stone, nothing. We'll see how it goes, but I have some ideas to make it more interesting than hitting smough for four hours straight.

I mean, technically speaking it isn't pegp, you need to use a small shield for that, I was parrying barehanded so I had to get lucky rather than having a 100% working strategy, but I was abusing the same mechanics for the chances, so close enough lol

Very interesting. Another challenge runner to add to Baron, and Lemon.(if unsure who I mean, Baron castle and Thebacklogs.) Btw, expand Idea of challenge runs to other games, I wonder what you may choose and do. Hope to see more videos of this nature.
I love Baron and Lemon, I actually have a video essay in the works mentioning Lemon, he makes incredible content. I have done challenge runs of other games to a degree, I'm working on a similar challenge to this in DS2 and I've done Death's Door and Tunic without rolling. I'm also working on Tunic with only a stick, but that one is a bit... I don't know, maybe impossible? I have streams and some highlights of playing that stick only run, but I wanted to play with stricter rules and haven't managed to beat a certain boss yet. Oh, and I did do Thymesia at level 1 with no plague weapons, the bosses are highlighted, but they're not commented like this.
I had to watch this at .75 speed cos it was giving me a headache

I love Dark Souls 2, it's still in my top five games, I'm just not very good at it. I'm looking into doing a run like this in DS2 now, but I've never even done an sl1 run in DS2 lol

When i did magic the capra demon kept doing the slam attack which was HITTING ME ON THE 2ND FLOOR IN ONE HIT OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Eventually i double backed to the stairs instead. I swear dark souls a.i. can be the scariest cheekiest "im gunna play dumb" enemies ever.

Absolutely. I have a video essay planned for hopefully next week if ADHD doesn't get in the way, and I just started on a similar run in Dark Souls 2. Dark Souls is my favorite game, it would be criminal to not make more content on it.

No, I meant I don't use bows, whips, or sorceries... at least, I hadn't until I did my own "sorcery only" playthrough and stuff. I don't remember saying anything about PlayStation, though. I just played this on PC because it's easier to record lol

I attempted a run that was kinda like this back in 22, weightless I called it. I wanted to use everything I knew about the game to challenge myself, but I definitely made it way harder than it needed to be lol
I banned the pyro flame and most consumables, and decided to start without the master key just because I thought it would be more interesting
I needed a lot of clipping around the map to get past impossible barriers, and I may or may not have dupped some souls
Some other feats I recall were killing asylum demon with my bare fists, making Taurus demon jump out of the bridge and doing the demon ruins lava skip due to also banning picking up any piece of armor X)
Also, hey I farmed the 30 scales too! With the dragon head, that is
Plus the serpent ring I got by clipping into sen's fortress early
Totally worth it btw, the whole ordeal took around 10 hours max
Unfortunately I did drop the run after killing seath, I still need to go back and finish it, but it's probably one of the most interesting runs I've done in dark souls hahah

The only real reason I didn't ban pyro flame or consumables was to remove tedium, honestly. Like, yeah, I could've punched the asylum demon, made the Taurus demon jump, spent an extra hour or two farming, and spent another hour fighting the four kings and nito, but I didn't personally think it would add to the run, especially since the ruleset I had come up with was already pretty excessive lol. The no healing restriction was probably my favorite one, just because of how much it forced me to change up my strategies and, for lack of better terminology, get good lol

I did the whole "punching asylum demon to death" in the "literally nothing" video, it was totally worth it. I suppose I've technically beaten the game without pyro flame in that case, since I beat Gwyn with just torso in this one and the rest of the game without in literally nothing lol. It was definitely a fun run, worth seeing all the way through

Binoculars have no weight, do they? You could've used them to aim firebombs for killing the dude in New Londo and for Bed of Chaos easy kill
Oh, yeah, they go in the item slots, huh? But you can aim without them, they wouldn't make the bombs go farther, I just didn't think of using bombs lol. I also don't know the quick kill, but it's not like BoC is especially difficult
@solarpellets all the speedrunners kill BoC in one phase (no quit-outs) with firebombs, I do it myself these days, no need to waste time running around. The dude in New Londo you can easily kill with firebombs, if you aim them carefully from the staircase, that's what I do on my level 1 runs where I can't use the bow.

I really like seeing newcomers in the Souls TH-cam community, and I think you've got a great foundation! I want to share some pointers that might help you grow a bit.
Your voiceover is good 95% of the time, but there are points where you get a bit out of breath in the explainy parts. Just something to watch for. Remember that you can always splice audio if half a take is great but the other isn't!
Your additional music is fitting, but I feel like you should pace the tracks better for the segments. For an example, the music swaps in the middle of the Four Kings fight and it sounds a bit distracting to the ear. I would recommend segmenting music in such a way that you don't risk this kind of overlap; most video game music especially is designed to be looped so it should take minimal effort to extend or cut tracks to fit as needed. You could also just try segway slides a la Baron's Castle to provide a narrative framework for when to swap music.
Your technical knowledge of the game is tops and I love that. Yoyr humor is nice too, though a bit sparse. Remember, though, that a solid gimmick run will carry further than the hardest challenges. This run happens to be a decent challenge and a good gimmick, so it's nothing to worry about for this particular series, but definitely keep it in your back pocket.
I've seen you mention in other comments that you've planned a video essay style video and more challenges. Just bear in mind that these appeal to different audiences and may hurt your channel's growth in the short term if that's your primary concern.
Overall, I respect the content a lot and think you've got a lot of potential to grow with just a bit of fine tuning! Best of luck, miss Solar Pellets! Looking forward to the future!
To be honest, I just didn't put much effort into the music. I noticed that the timing was off, I just didn't feel like it affected the quality enough for me to put in that extra effort, especially since I had already spent so long on the rest of the video, but I definitely should've lol
As for my humor, it's just the style that makes me laugh. The sparse, out of nowhere jokes are always what make me laugh most. Some did feel out of place in retrospect, like the stray demon, but live and learn, I guess.
Like I say in the video, my favorite challenge runs are only my favorite because of the interesting builds, so hopefully that won't be an issue
Most of the content on my channel is already video essays, anyway, and my main goal when making content is to make stuff I would enjoy since so few channels fit the niche that I personally fit into, but I definitely do want to make my content more cohesive from now on, more focused around video games specifically, for example.

My main intent with the title is the idea there are a lot of restrictions, so "what can you use? Nothing?" Was what the title is supposed to communicate. I think putting the "no equip load" into "no armor" and "no weapons" was a mistake on my part, I shouldn't have said no weapons in the thumb, that's kinda dishonest. My bad on that one, I'll fix it when I get the chance

The idea behind the name was that there are so many restrictions that it ends up as a "what can you use?" I couldn't use most things and most people wouldn't think of the dragon stone, so with Quelaag being immune to fire, it's "nothing?"
That's why it's a question, anyway
"Nothing", maybe look up the definition.
The title is meant to be wondering what I could use, not saying I can't use anything. "If you can't have equip load, what can you use? Nothing?" You know?
Just call it pyromancy only run the next time
But that doesn't really encapsulate what it is. Obviously there's also the other stipulations, but I think "pyromancy only" evokes a much different idea than what this video is, at least in my mind.
