When my daughters first drove as teenagers, I told them - if they think they’re being followed, harassed, or in any way in danger, to drive to the closest police department.
My oldest had to do that ! At three way stop she clearly had the right of way Jerk blew his horn and stayed on her rear in a 30 zone She promptly headed straight to the local pd ! Road rage is real and ugly I was just great full she was safe !
Yep. Thank goodness for cell phones. All I did was pass a guy. But Bubba was a dim bulb. He had his info on the side of his beater truck. I called 911. PD dealt with it. This was the East Coast. They were very responsive. @@annettegraff8323
I'm a country woman who lived in the city for awhile, & worked in hospice. I was staying with a patient out in the country, & my relief was a city girl that evening. I got a frantic phone call about the time she was supposed to arrive for shift change. It was after dark. She said she was in her car on a dead end road surrounded by forest with her headlights on...didn't know where she was, what turn she had taken to get there, & her GPS wasn't working. She was absolutely terrified, & neither I or the patient's family had any idea how to help her. I told her she was much safer where she was at the moment than in her own home back in the city, but of course she didn't believe me with visions of "Deliverance" going thru her head. We told her to lock her car & ended up calling the county sheriff. Fortunately, they figured out fairly quickly where she might be, & went to her rescue, & guided her to the patient's home. I know even country folk aren't completely immune to danger, but I was never mugged until I moved to the city, ya'll.
❤ You are so right about the media trying to put fear in viewers!! So much "programming" and manipulation . This world is a much better place when one isn't glued to the screen. 😊
I grew up on a dairy farm and it’s true about city folks being afraid of cows 🐄 like country people are afraid of city stuff . For my father who can back a tractor with a trailer up a winding hill , don’t expect him to merge smoothly in city traffic…….. 😂❤✌️ I love your channel Carolyn!
Well honestly Carolyn they may of thought you were a meth lab, or a creepy man in an RV!! Ya just never know these days! I've been watching you for years. I still am in sticks and bricks but have been looking at campervans!! I've always admired your courage and how far you've come since the first days with Capone.😊
Perhaps, but I doubt it because they were touting flags. Most people do not attach giant flags on their trucks, roam around random remote areas looking for meth labs, and act like that. They were more likely having a private gathering of the farty old white guys for Trump and how can we terrorize everyone meeting.
I think that was a scary story. I think the scariest was when you were in the Ozarks. I learned about those folks the hard way. We had a fishing cabin there. The sheriff explained the meth labs to us. Being in a motorhome made other "methers" suspicious of you (don't invade their territory) and the non-methers were suspicious of you because so many folks cook in trailers/motorhomes. We don't have a fishing cabin there anymore.
Yeah sometimes you just have to move to avoid conflict, I camped about half the time for a few years in the foothills of the north cascades and found I was more comfortable further away from the main roads
It’s a shame that those guys acted like that. As a conservative, I really hate that there’s people like that who are supposedly part of my political demographic. We aren’t all “white supremacists” or gun toting crazy people. Even I don’t feel comfortable around people like that. I totally agree with your “bubble” theory & how the media divides us. I think people should have the right to believe or support whatever they want without being hassled by strangers. Anyway, love your channel, love your stories, & love to hear ya tell them. God bless!
I remember you telling the first story, years ago. Around that time I had a side job delivering auto parts, and one of the first points in the training video was, ALWAYS back into parking spaces, whenever possible. (Their point was safety, though, a high percentage of vehicle damage accidents, they found, was when the drivers were backing out of parking spaces, safer to take the extra time to back into the space, and pull out.) It altered my driving habits to be sure. Now I always back in / pull out whenever possible.
I live in a small farming community about 90 minutes north of Sacramento and we often say that we have much more in common with Kansas here than California! Yes, pick-up trucks (many with gun racks) are extremely common around here in rural NorCal but most I know of leave others alone, so sorry about your experience. The WalMart I'll bet you are referring to is the one on Florin Rd., and no, you definitely would NOT have been safe there! Rancho Murieta is about 30-45 minutes or so east/southeast of Sacramento- There is also a Murrieta (different spelling) in SoCal just south of Riverside... Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Practical solution would be to display an American flag outside your rig. It's the "Hey, guys. I'm one of you" technique. Also probably a good idea to remove any bumper stickers, especially the Berkley Alumni ones. On the other hand maybe it wasn't a political thing at all. Maybe they thought your rig was a mobile meth lab or something. Or maybe they were just a bunch of jerks looking to cause trouble. I guess we'll never know exactly, but you made the right decision to get out of Dodge. I may or may not have done the same thing as you, depending on how angry they made me. One time I was shot at and it made me so angry that I actually confronted the men who, as it turned out were drunk and laughing. They actually apologized, imagine that. God must have been smiling on me that day for sure. Take care, Carolyn. I know you will because your smarter than I was.
My first thought was to grab an American flag, park a lawn chair out front, & yell "Yee Haw!" & wave the flag as each one passed by...but truly, who knows what they were up to out there? Anything from practice drills, escaped convicts, to Bigfoot.

I also remember this story, and you mentioning you were facing the wrong way! Yeah, that was pretty scary just listening to you talking about it. Great video Carolyn.
I remembered this story as soon as you started to tell it. It scared me when you told it back then, they were up to no good. BUT that trail of tears story still makes me nauseous when you retold it last week. I think of it & have told others that story. It’s terrifying.
Strange they think they only have to meet late at night. As a veteran, I take offense at people flying a flag until its raggedy. I saw a truck dragging a flag once.
Carolyn Your stories are scary I would like to think that here in America it’s not like that but politics has people losing there minds.Back when Regan was running my father had a Regan decal on his car at the light the two guys got out of their car run to my dads car my dad pulled his gun out the driver saw this and basically took off with the other guy chasing to catch up. I ended up laughing when I pictured this guy screaming and chasing the car.But when I think about it,it was really scary.
Great point and well said, media has a way to affect our😢 thoughts and beliefs toward geographic areas we aren't familiar with! And, OMG, just think what we will be dealing with if the majority of people dont educate themselves with the AI generated videos. Now thats another scary!!!😮😢
I remember this and I remember the advice you gave - lol… I still follow that advice when I’m solo camping! - including a bat and where to keep my keys. well except for the big shoes.
I will ALWAYS prefer to hear my youtuber talk about a product they personally endorse and who supports their channel, than to CONSTANTLY be interrupted by obnoxious commercials.
I stidied in UCD and went often to Sacramento. It's a dangerous city but guess what, you just mind your own business and don't care and usually nothing bad happens. ❤
I enjoy your scary stories. We live in a fifth wheel ( Firefly). My door opens out with a milk glass window. Can't figure out how to secure door when someone knocks
Luckily with my California plates i have not had much of anything i could call a scary experience....Had a goofy guy knock on my door once in a Walmart parking lot about 5am in the morning ...Asked him what he wanted through a window and he said im looking for so and so....Told him to keep looking and quit bothering me in the process...He walked around the motorhome and stood there awhile as i kept my eye on him but then got in this car and left....My guess he was tweeking i dont know....I was packing at the time anyway so i didnt care....I dont bring my gun with me anymore though (wink)....FALL in NY is looking good, love your little campfire spot...Stay safe, you and Sadie be well....
You were in a town with one streetlight. Everyone knows everyone and you were a stranger who's intentions were unknown. I am sure they were just as worried as you were. (Thank you Breaking Bad).
I would've smiled and given him a thumbs up just to make him think I agreed with him (even though I don't) because that might have been enough to make him go away. LOL! I've traveled all over this country the past 40 years (though not in an RV) and it's only in recent years that I've found myself questioning if it's safe to travel alone. This country has changed a LOT, and not in a good way. Two years ago I was driving to VA to visit family and I needed to stretch my legs so I just took the next exit somewhere in Ohio. Turned out that exit went to a little blink you miss it town with one little convenience store. I parked by the side of the building and got out to stretch my legs. I didn't go inside the store. Then I got back in my truck and was fiddling with something in my truck when a guy in a bigger truck pulled in right behind my truck at a right angle (like a T), blocking me in since the building was in front of me and there was a fence to my left and another car one parking spot away to my right. In my mirror I could see he was staring at me, and not pleasantly, either. I had that same feeling, like my MN plates had somehow made me a target. Fortunately, I'm a lot more gutsy behind the wheel than a man might expect from a woman driver in a sundress (I was a truck driver for many years) so I just maneuvered my little truck right around him, in reverse, with maybe 2 inches to spare, and got right back on the interstate. LOL
Ya, you had mentioned that isident of those people coming into the park with the big pickups, in another vid that I just saw recently. I was surprised you had not mentioned it in your last video. My heart would have been pounding with that incident. While I'm watching this video right now, I'm in the middle of my first ever shelter in place situation because of an active shooter. I can hear the cops sirens blaring, hoping the shooter does not come down this street and shoot up the office building I'm cleaning all a lone.😅
Thank you for your concern. We never received a all clear message because they are still looking for the shooter, but when the sun came up, I took a chance and went home. I did not see anything unusual until I got on the interstate and saw 5 or 6 police cars with lights going, heading tword Lewiston. So even at 6 in the morning, they were still getting more help from other towns. I have been Door Dashing all afternoon, and a lot of businesses are closed. Others, even an hour away, you can't go into the lobby. You have to get the food threw the drive threw. So they are really taking precautions around here today.
I delivered a package of mail to someone's car, in a rented truck lot, and the rich ($million) Ukranian owner (unbeknownst to us) was trying to throw out the guy I was delivering to (likely, part of the Ukranian version of the mafia (rumor, not able to be verified)). He blocked me in (unlawful detainment, in legal speak), but a trailer had been towed out leaving me an escape route. He caught up with me, and followed me 35 miles down the Interstate. I was, then, finally able to put my phone down, from hovering over the "call" button, with 911 displayed on the screen. He was "open carry", and not shy about it. I was literally just dropping off his mail. I don't go to Virginia, any more.
Have you tried Slab city? I’ve been watching slab videos lately. I see they even have some rustic Airbnb sheds. They have a place called the ponderosa that has places for your rv. Just curious what your thoughts are about the Slabs?

Quite a look at how we perceive situations, sadly 2024 has made our small town in upstate NY truly scary! On my friend’s road there are “patriots “ armed and ready! They hold meetings of like minded people where guns are on display (not hunting type)! My friend actually goes the long way around to avoid even driving by the place! Anyway I enjoy visiting with you and hearing your experiences!
well i hope your still up and reading the news. ik your in ny some where but there’s an active shooter in maine. He has shot and killed 16 ppl. Im just concerned bc he might leave the area and come to remote areas like places you boondock to hide from authorities. i’m just worried. stay safe ❤
OMG! Your storytelling! I think I remember that time when we had those groups parading around Emeryville and Berkeley! That was horrible times here in the SF Bay area. Looting was happening and these gangs of trucks where parading everywhere looking for trouble. So glad you got out. Usually County parks are pretty safe. So sad this happened to you in CA. CA is huge so there are certain areas in farmland CA you don''t want to go to. We have all types of charactors here. Luckily, we don't see those parading trucks anymore as some may have been arrested as protesters from the Capitol.
In today’s society the extremist are out there but for the rest of us, we just want to be left alone. One just has to use the common sense most of us are born with and we mind our own business. Live and let live.
Aren't the two-legged animals of this country amazingly intolerant especially in certain areas of this country ? Why is that? I really don't know the answer.
Didn't you have a bigfoot story? I think you were out east possibly New York when you thought Bigfoot might of been following/watching you when you were out on a walk?
I love Mint Mobile. I live in Fair Oaks, which is a suburb of Sacramento, and walking distance from the American River bike trail on the American River. It is absolutely beautiful and safe. My neighbors and I all hang our flags on designated holidays and are proud to be in the USA. It is a gated community. Most of us are Democrats. Note: There are many safe parks and nature areas where you could have parked. Governor Newson lived in Fair Oaks and just moved to Marin. Apparently, Newsom’s children were getting bullied at the nearby private and upscale Waldorf School in Fair Oaks. So yes, lots of Conservatives and free-thinkers, but also many well-educated Democrats in our capital city. Note: The numerous homeless encampments along the river and older, ungated neighborhoods have angered a lot of tax-paying homeowners because Newsom’s policies have not helped it one bit. Imagine getting panhandled at the local gas station every time you fuel up. Yep, all down the street from Newsom’s residence. In parts of nearby Carmichael, the children cannot play outside without meth addicts soliciting them for money or a hose to bathe! I have owned my home for over 20 years and this was NEVER the case in Northern CA!
I think you are talking about Rancho Murieta it is in Sacramento County, California. It’s possible they were having a bleep bleep bleep rally. Good thing you got out of there. Good ol boys didn’t want you there, yup. It’s really disgusting what those type of people get away with. So sad.
I have had mint mobile since their beginning and it has always been $30 a month for me and when I said to two different people it's $15 according to the commercials and I was told I'm incorrect and the $15 a month doesn't exist. I went round and round with mint mobile and I still was told $15 a month doesn't exist. So......
Perhaps you interrupted a Klan meeting. Ugh. I learned that boot trip decades ago - I think I lived in TN at the time and although I almost always feel safe in CA, TN scared me.
It seems everyone is just scraping by these days. I've noticed other van lifers are starting to take on more advertisers as their income from subscribers no longer seems to be adequate so I get it. I hope that once times are better you'll narrow down your sponsors to the most deservinb ones.
My transgender daughter and her trans husband moved to Sacramento from the East Coast hoping for more acceptance. They got shot at with rubber bullets one day when walking in the city. It's so sad.
the people in the sacramento area are not bum friendly. the bums get everything. and a pass to do most anything. but the tax payers do not think like that. most likely they would have done nothing, just wanted to make sure you left town. they just thought you were one of "those". and just wanted you gone. but it was the safer thing to do, best to not camp in big city's anyhow.
Carolyn, I live in Mesa, Arizona, which is ULTRA MAGA, but not as ULTRA MAGA as Gilbert, or Apache Junction. So Yes, I know the type of pickup truck that has a huge American Flag, a bad muffler, and is beat to hell. No, you don't want to be anywhere near that crowd, they are unhinged, and as thick as bricks. Luckily I am moving on Friday the 3rd to Scottsdale which is a hell of a lot more chill. The MAGA Freaks in Mesa gun their engines at every stop light like every intersection is a Drag Race in 1957. You can hear them coming a long ways off because they're always driving at least 25 miles over the speed limit in school zones, and their mufflers don't work. Oh, and if Donald is thrown in jail for Contempt of Court it will get down right crazy with that crowd. Scottsdale, got to love it. Take Care Carolyn, and never be afraid to speak the truth.

What scary situations. Glad you got out of them safely. 😊
Thanks for sharing your stories 😊
I remember this and I remember the advice you gave - lol… I still follow that advice when I’m solo camping! - including a bat and where to keep my keys. well except for the big shoes.
Safe travels ❤😊 Scary stories,stay safe ❤️😊
I will ALWAYS prefer to hear my youtuber talk about a product they personally endorse and who supports their channel, than to CONSTANTLY be interrupted by obnoxious commercials.
I stidied in UCD and went often to Sacramento. It's a dangerous city but guess what, you just mind your own business and don't care and usually nothing bad happens. ❤
I enjoy your scary stories. We live in a fifth wheel ( Firefly). My door opens out with a milk glass window. Can't figure out how to secure door when someone knocks
Thank you for sharing...
Very interesting.
This first story is the one I was thinking about when I commented on fb.
Thanks again for a wonderful video of your journey ❤️🕊💯🙏🏻🌈🥳🎉
You were in a town with one streetlight. Everyone knows everyone and you were a stranger who's intentions were unknown. I am sure they were just as worried as you were. (Thank you Breaking Bad).
Great Story: The flags would be my First Clue🍀
Great stories Carolyn, I hope you're licensed to carry a small firearm, and always have it near by and ready to go, just in case!
I remember this!!! 😮
LOL
Must have been Rancho Murietta, just southeast of Sacramento. I’ve never heard of a neighborhood here with that name.
Scary..I heard on the news in Maine of one
@@BiKEnBiTES that I it.
@@ABooth-ou8oo yikes 😳
Please update when you are safe.
Love the new logo
I have a whole Slab City series.

Punks ! Glad you got out safe !
👍👍....very interesting video!!! 😉😃
You can't be positive that it is safe not to point out.
I remember that.. yah I be pointing out always
I remember that night
Sounds to me like a bunch of local high school-late teen age kids heading to their party spot and you were an interloper.
Lessons learnt 👌
Great video
Thanks for the visit
Yeah I saw the last video and that must've been one of the locals
Wow I would have left too. Who knows what they were up to.
How dare they? Americans acting as the Founding Fathers told them to -- HOW DARE THEY!
well i hope your still up and reading the news. ik your in ny some where but there’s an active shooter in maine. He has shot and killed 16 ppl. Im just concerned bc he might leave the area and come to remote areas like places you boondock to hide from authorities. i’m just worried. stay safe ❤
Big scary American flags...
Exactly. This is most wacko comment section I've ever seen in my life.
What??
Stay safe with the mam hunt going on
I think I remember you saying something about it 😢
In today’s society the extremist are out there but for the rest of us, we just want to be left alone. One just has to use the common sense most of us are born with and we mind our own business. Live and let live.
Rancho Murietta
Don’t you get lonely 😞
Aren't the two-legged animals of this country amazingly intolerant especially in certain areas of this country ? Why is that? I really don't know the answer.
Didn't you have a bigfoot story? I think you were out east possibly New York when you thought Bigfoot might of been following/watching you when you were out on a walk?
Haha that would be a good one to hear
So sad.
Yep that sounds right. Thanks
Who are "those people"?
I would not camping near a bar nothing good will come about it.
I have had mint mobile since their beginning and it has always been $30 a month for me and when I said to two different people it's $15 according to the commercials and I was told I'm incorrect and the $15 a month doesn't exist. I went round and round with mint mobile and I still was told $15 a month doesn't exist. So......
It exists with unlimited for new subscribers only. I prepay for a year @ $15 per month, but only get 5 gigs.
Is that a tattoo on your arm?
😮😮😮
❤
the people in the sacramento area are not bum friendly. the bums get everything. and a pass to do most anything. but the tax payers do not think like that. most likely they would have done nothing, just wanted to make sure you left town.
they just thought you were one of "those". and just wanted you gone.
but it was the safer thing to do, best to not camp in big city's anyhow.
bums don't live in Rvs like hers.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Drug dealers distribution center???
2016 was a bad year for racists on both sides. I got assaulted at work and woke up 5 hours layer. STILL no clue what I did.
You don't. Have a gun
✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
Did they know you were female or could they even see you?
