      I agree

    • @Ryem3
      @Ryem3 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That car was not available with that paint. Even as an option. It cost at least 5k to paint the car and it's basically ruined as an aftermarket job. Although it does look beautiful. The carbon hood also cost another 1.5k. Saying 5k of upgrades is a real understatement.

    • @888mf4
      @888mf4  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Ryem3 You are correct. The San Marino paint is a liquid wrap. I don't believe that it ruins the car in any way. However it does look incredible. In my conclusion I stated that you need to spend £5k on aftermarket products on an M2 Competition to improve the factory car. This included an aftermarket exhaust, lowered suspension, upgraded air filter and an aftermarket steering wheel. I did not say that it needs a wrap. The factory offers lots of good colours.

    For me, the suspension upgrade in the M2 CS wouldn’t matter, because no matter whatever version of M2 I would get, the suspension would immediately be swapped out for Ohlin’s coilovers. So the M2 CS, for me, is just not worth it.

  • @jbermud2

    763M wheels
    Cup 2 Tires
    CF front splitter
    CF rear diffuser
    CF side winglets
    CF mirrors
    CF roof
    CF CS hood
    If you have a stock M2C and add all of the above, you'd probably get up there in cost pretty quickly and you still wouldn't have all the alcantara interior trim, the adaptive suspension, the extra 40HP, or the "rareness" or slower depreciation of the CS.
    So if you're someone who actually likes all the extra carbon bits and mods, the CS is probably good value. If you are content with a stock M2C and don't care for all the other bells and whistles then M2C is the value play by a mile. Really depends.

    • @888mf4
      @888mf4  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The biggest differences between the M2 Competition and the M2 CS are the adaptive suspension and carbon roof. Neither of which you can option on the M2 Competition. However, neither of these transform the car. I know a few people who picked up nearly new M2 Competition cars from BMW main dealers for £40,000 so they've done very well. The M2 CS is too new to know what residuals will do. There are three for sale in the UK on Pistonheads from £79,950. Let's see where these are trading in a year. Both are good cars as I stated in my review, but I would buy an M3 CSL over both. We will be publishing a review of the new M4 very soon!

    You say the CS is better than "the standard M2 Competition" but you didn't compare the CS against the standard car M2 Comp. The extra 40 hp that the CS has in addition to it being at least a passenger's weight lighter is a lot of extra power... but your M2 Comp test car with a performance exhaust and airbox mod probably has an extra 25-40 hp, maybe more. So of course it doesn't feel like the CS has much more performance than a modified Comp. The same mods to the CS can push it's output to around 500hp and you'd definitely notice that! You're also neglecting to take into account the huge difference in unsprung weight. The CS has considerably lighter wheels plus 55lbs less in lighter brakes that also stop the car faster. The suspension can react much more quickly with that reduction in unsprung weight. Those changes also yield a big reduction in rotating mass making for quicker acceleration and deceleration. A much lighter carbon roof and carbon hood lower the center of gravity further improving acceleration and handling. And the vents in the hood reduce up-force from air pressure buildup under the unvented bonnet (for you Englishmen) as well as bleeding off heat that is destructive to turbo charged engines.

      The SMG II in the CSL is highly capable, it just takes time to learn its characteristics and exploit the gearbox to its full potential. The analogue thump in the back it gives you when the gearbox is in its most aggressive setting just can't be replicated by the DCT/DSGs of today, as Mark will probably attest having also owned and lived with one. I have no idea Mark as I haven't tried one. However I don't think you can compare a front engined, four seater to a sports car. The M2 CS is a great car but it is still a sports coupe.

  • @nessuno5403
    @nessuno5403 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The claim the M2 CS have sold out is not true worldwide. Two reasons: 1) the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 and GT4 made some people cancel their CS orders; 2) the pandemic. M2 CS peoduction is happening and there are cars available. Dealers are buying unallocated ones to claim fully sold and then sell at max price.

      I mentioned the upgrades to the M2 Comp take the price to around £60k. The M2 CS costs £85k with the ceramic brakes, DCT gearbox and a couple of other options. However a used M2 Comp is now available at £40k so with some mods will set you back £45k.
