He was one of my favorite actors....He made his parts seem very real to me.....l often wondered what happened to him....Now l know....Thanks to my friend Jerry Skinner....Thanks
One of my fav actors of all time....especially in those spaghetti westerns. You’re the best at these biographical studies of significant personalities. No one does it better. You gather seldom known facts and cover everyone with time consuming, thoroughly researched detail . Keep’em coming Jerry. Much appreciated and enjoyed.
I absolutely love him. His presence on the screen outshown everyone else. So charismatic and in my mind he had a beautiful face, those eyes and those cheekbones ,wow! R.I.P. Mr. Lee Van Cleef.
One of my all-time faves. As a lover of the Spaghetti Westerns, especially the Leone films, Lee was absolutely a legend. Left us all too soon, but thankfully a lot of work for us to cherish for many moons to come. RIP Angel Eyes!
According to Spaghetti Western Lore, Lee was one of the fastest draws ever to grace the screen. His character of Douglas Mortimer became so popular he even had his own Italian comic book series.
This guy was a World War 11 veteran. He served on a Navy mine Sweeper. He was a deckerated War veteran. He later became an actor. He always wore a cowboy hat so that his head wouldn't have to be seen. He was loosing his hair. Remember the Good, The Bad, and The Ugly!
I've always wondered if Lee had it in his contract to have the most gorgeous black horse in the Eastwood films. Thank you Jerry for this great video -- Lee Van Cleef is one of the best character actors ever!
My dad was the same age. He was out of high school when Pearl Harbor happened. He enlisted in the Navy right away and was off to fight. Luckily he came back alive or I wouldn't be born. Both he and Lee belonged to the Greatest Generation. RIP Lee and my dad ❤
I grew up with him and the movies of his era. Luke a child, that I was, I believed whole his performance. What an achievement in his acting. I can't imagine ANYONE else doing his work. Heartfelt condolences to his family
Van Cleef looked to have lived 94 years in the 64 years that he was on earth. He also played parts on Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel & Bonanza .. all popular TV Westerns.
I've been watching the 30-minute "Gunsmoke" episodes on the Inspiration Channel. In addition to just being great shows, they are character- actor heaven. To date, we've seen Strother Martin ( frequently), Chuck Connors, Ross Martin, DeForest Kelly, Richard Deacon, John Carradine, Claude Akins, Frank DeKova, Robert Middleton, Raymond Bailey, Werner Klemperer, Jack Weston....seems like everyone passed through Dodge City!
Another STELLAR job Mr. Skinner!!! So many great details we never knew growing up watching him! I remember mom and daddy took us to the drive inn to see Hang em High and The Good Bad and Ugly. Lee scared me when I was a kid but now it’s just awesome memories and as an adult now…I was thinking of him last week and I thought I bet he was a teddy bear and sure enough you said it!!! I was like awwwww and I tilted my head and grabbed my heart for that sweet man. So thank you again!!! I will probably watch it again lol🥰🥰🥰
Thank you, thank you, Jerry. This is one of my favorites, I love turning on the movie channel and seeing Lee in one of his many westerns. I can never turn him off, one great bad of the bad. Love you Jerry, please keep em coming. Jill and Augie Blase, Winter springs, Florida 🤠
Lee was reputed to be a very sweet fellow who died way before his time. Lee was 100% correct, in not fixing his nose. It was his nose that may have gotten parts, but he acted perfectly.
I loved Lee Van Cleef "he had that look". Such a good actor died so young. Very interesting anecdotes of his life; with saving that dog from the ocean I love him more. Glad his daughter is still around we are both from 48'. May he rest in peace. Thanks again Jerry.
Excellent video and excellent choice. Lee Van Cleef was one of a kind. His iconic role as The Bad will never be surpassed. "I almost forgot. He gave me a thousand. I think his idea was that I kill you. But you know, the pity is, when I'm paid... ...I always follow my job through. You know that."
Great documentary about LEE VAN CLEEF,I LOVE THESE DOCUMENTARIES,THANK YOU JERRY SKINNER,WITHOUT YOU I WOULDN'T KNOW ABOUT SOME GREAT ACTORS OF THE PAST
I didn't realize he was so young when he passed away. A huge loss to all of us who loved him. Thank you for yet another excellent video, your time and effort.
One of the greatest character actors of the time and definitely the "Best of the Bad" Once again Mr Skinner, you have made a brilliant, educational, complete and respectful video biography - a job that you do better than any other... Thank You
Im privilaged to see yet another first class documentary from Mr. Jerry Skinner. Ive missed your work so much and Im so happy to see this new about Van Cleef. Thank you so much for all your great work Mr. Skinner, you're a real gem. xoxo
The first time I ever seen Lee Van Cleef was in The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, then the bounty hunter in one of those "Dollars" Films with Clint. Then at some point I watched High Noon and spotted him there! Then Escape From NY, Death Rides A Horse, etc. I haven't seen everything he's been in but I'm working on it! I've always said that, in the movies, you can't have an effective hero without an exceedingly great bad ass bad guy. Lee Van Cleef is just that good :) RIP. Also, I'd like to thank his family for his WWII service.
Always loved him as an actor - never knew about him saving the dog in Navy - so lovely! - And he was a portraitist - Love it when you find out an actor you like, turns out to be a decent & good person too. Thank you for this really interesting & informative video much appreciated.
For those of you watching for the first time this is one of those hidden gems on TH-cam. I've learned so much from Mr. Skinner even the videos that I'm not that interested in end up thoroughly entertaining me this is great work. 🤔👏💯
Watched The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly so many times with my dad, he loved that movie. I see him and all I think is "Angel Eyes." Thanks for the information, very interesting.
Thanks for all the videos, including this of the legendary LVC ! One of the best western actors going, and can not thank him enough for his acting, which was brilliant. LVC got me through my youth, watching his movies over and over again especially the spaghetti westerns. R.I.P. LVC, we salute you.
Terrific Jerry, I liked the intro and exit music which typifies the man and actor. As you probably know, he was the last of the actors from the movie the Conquerors who died or had cancer.
I had forgotten the story of cancer on The Conquerors!!! Wow! I had heard he went through testing, because at the time he hadn't contracted cancer as so many of the other stars of that money had. Gosh, maybe it wasn't the years of smoking that did it???
Hi Jerry Keith here. I'm going to say it before I even watch your video. I know this is a winner. You are the best buddy. Standby I got one for you, nothing as great as yours but this is pretty good. Keith Kuhn

Really? I'd love to see it, but can't seem to find it
I heard he was faster than Eastwood

My Dad was almost exactly a year older, and he, too, graduated high school at 17 and joined the Navy, but ended up on a carrier
I grew up with him and the movies of his era. Luke a child, that I was, I believed whole his performance.

If you were born in 1900, you had a pretty good chance of dying by your 50th birthday. So no, he did not died very young.
Amazing character actor with a look that could turn you to stone.
