I’ve owned one of these for 10 years. Wouldn’t want anything else. Fantastic 2 up too. A bike totally underestimated. The sheep seem to follow BMW for what ever reason. Maybe Charlie Boorman. Who knows. I believe in support British 🇬🇧. A superb bike all round. Love it.
Well done, this was a fantastic review. I'm amazed at how many people are quick to dismiss the Explorer as being capable in the rough stuff. You looked like you were coping very well in the outback on this machine. People have to remember this is excellent value for money compared with the new GS and KTM. Unless you are real hardcore off then I believe you don't need the extra electronic wizardry. Think ill be buying the Explorer XC in khaki green :)
Nice one DD. I rode this bike recently and shared most of your sentiments. There are some other downsides though. The bike nose dives terribly compared to the GS1200 and feels a little bloated and underpowered. The Tiger 800 (which I rode back to back with the 1200) looks to be a much better balanced machine.
Hi Perry, It didn't nose dive for me. The suspension is fully adjustable, maybe just set up soft for you. Engine is great low down and sweet midrange but does sign off quickly. Also remember is has only 2/3 of power of the Kato 1190. That said, I really liked this bike but that bash plate has GOT to GO.
Outstanding review. There are many out there thst feel that the Explorer is not at all off-road capable; However, this video appears to prove otherwise.
The bike does well off road. But a MUST is a decent bash plate. In deep sand, it's a little twitchy, but then not many people take these in the sand. Just love that engine.
As always on videos where royalty free music is not used the artist and song are recognised towards the end of the video. In this case it is at 5.17 in the video.
So is there any update or links to the "several aftermarket companies" that were producing better skidplates? Because all I see have similar to stock mounting procedures.
Motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike TV Thank you very much for the response, I contacted touratech, they are hoping to have something to market by the end of this year, but they wouldn't say anything about the mount of it, so I guess we'll see.
+Motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike TV thanks for the review mate...I know its a couple of years old now, but still a really good and relevant review.....got me lusting after one of these triples now....
259 kg on a sand and you are happy with it. Wow . I know it's and age old video but as i am on an aftermarket for it i watch a lot of reviews and evry body talking its to heavy for a gravel road hahah
I apologize for the comment. I'm sure it's a good dirt review. I can't find a single video of anyone riding this bike on a twisty road. And considering this bike will spend 90% of it's time on pavement, a bit of an oversight don't you think? Before you say it's not a sport bike, I have an oil cooled R1200GS and it's great on the curvy roads. Really easy to lean over.
I am here seven years later to tell you you’re an idiot. Go find the other video you’re looking for. This is an off road review from an Aussie. Go stick to your suburbs, pavement princess.

A great bike. But boy that video is old.
I like that spoke setup

Motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike TV 1190 has 150hp and the tex 135hp........ so 2/3 may not be quite accurate
I appreciate this review. im undecided on this bike or a Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 but after this, im guessing i"ll be getting this one instead. cheers
Let Tom know I purchased his CD after hearing it on your vids. Great vid too, I think I need to trade in my Speedmaster now :)
Nice review mate

The music in your videos is pleasant. Could you list the artist and song names in future vids?

Any chance you guys are going to test the new bmw 1200 gsa? Best reviews by far on youtube would love to see you test the big Beamer !!!
Cheers chris
Our next project is filming Chris Birch and then we had our eyes set on the BMW 800 GS Adventure but this is yet to be confirmed.

at the time of making the film I was told
touratech and B&B were in design stage

Music by Tom Richardson a great guitarist check him out on iTunes.
What year was the bike you were riding?
It is a 2012-2015 model (according to the display type)
Ha, nice ending-too right!
This bike cost me my license =)
Really nice bike...
i wish i was an aussie adventure rider :(
The only thing that turns me off on the triumph is the limited dealer network here. Yamaha has a much better network of dealers.
the background music is to loud
+nick be well Nick, I'm underwhelmed. Turn your hearing aid down. ....and your vocabulary is the baddest, it's 'too' not 'to'.

+Motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike TV how do you rate this bike against the KTM 1190 R????
Completely different bike for a different purpose. Much more suited to road, but can still do the rough stuff IF you get that bashplate sorted out.

It was a good bike. But steering and frame geometry set up for twisty tar. Nevertheless it went OK on the dirt.
Sorry, not a big fan of Triumph Explorer
And who cares about the dirt? It's not a dirt bike. What a crappy review.
Not sure what country you are from, but in Australia this bike is regularly ridden in the dirt.
