    Just wanted to say thank you for this video! I used this as my guide & it was very helpful.
    Got the blend door replacement done in about 3 hours yesterday including removing the drivers seat so I could lay down, and vacuum all the areas of the carpet I couldn't get to when the seat is installed.
    I used a hot knife instead of the dremel, which Im sure took longer but I felt this was a lot safer for that front vertical cut near the heater core. If I used the dremel I'm sure I would have touched the heater core a time or two but probably not punctured it if I was careful.

    • @Thoughtseaux
      @Thoughtseaux 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dude my hot knife was ass. Once the metal expanded it would just fall out of the screw hole (extremely dangerous if it falls btw). Took 3 hours just to cut it out

    ...glad you followed my recommendation on using G&E silicone till 400 F proof. … you don’t want to use anything else that loosens over time with drastic changing temperatures and then haven unwonted / uncontrolled temperatures in the foot area and not the right temperature coming out the dash vents.

    Shouldve used a hot knife for less destroying of the edges. You would use a Solder flat tip to help mold/melt the plastic back together.. Also you can use flat plastic tabs to help hold it together on the outside

      Good luck. My best advice is to not worry as much about how fine your cut is. I wider gap will actually make it much easier to get out and more importantly back in. The panel has to come down a bit before it can come out. Best wishes.

    I live in CALIFORNIA, took my car to the dealer to find out I was having the exact same issue. They were charging me $3,300 to fix it so I decided to do it my self. I was able to replace the part over LABOR day weekend and my ac is back 100%.

    • @hicemm
      @hicemm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah dealer prices on this repair are sky high, given that they do the repair the way it’s supposed to be done and that’s by removing the dashboard. This shortcut is also labor intensive and a bit risky but if one takes their time and follows all steps out there to help repair it in this manner it’s worth the money one will save... even at a private shop quotes are around 1500... I hope this video helped in some way shape or form... give it a like and share with any camaro buddies u may have lol

    So when the ac blows neutral or hot air on both cold and hot option its most likely the door?

    • @hicemm
      @hicemm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes check to see if your compressor engaged when in ac mode if so then it’s most likely your blend door also with fan on high when switching from all hot to Max cold you should hear a difference in air flow as the blend door switches... if you don’t chances are it is a blend door issue...

    • @hicemm
      @hicemm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No i highly doubt it’s a fuse issue another way you can check is to pull the blend door motor out and turn the hot cold switch if you see it move it’s not a fuse also you can look inside where the blend door motor goes too see if the door is in place. I would check the fuses anyway just to be on the safe side.

    It so difficult to get up in that small space when your OLD, LOL. I'm doing my 2013. Can anyone comment on do you need to disconnect the battery before pulling the connectors from the computer module? I can't get my vent register out, so guess I need to take out the computer if that's what it is.

    • @ksnagg21
      @ksnagg21 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m doing a 14 now. I didn’t disconnect the battery. You do take the bcm with the connectors out first. Then that makes taking the vent off easier. It takes some wiggling n tugging but mine came out

    • @shawnsutter9748
      @shawnsutter9748 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Remove the front seat completely out of the car. You can lay down and reach the underside of the dash.

  • @lissicarranza
    @lissicarranza 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Same thing when the AC it’s not working either? Mine don’t work both 🤦🏻‍♀️

    • @hicemm
      @hicemm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be possibly. Best way to be sure put your heat on max and fan on high it should blow hot air ( obvi ) once really hot change the temp from hot to max cold you should hear a change in air flow as it switches from hot to cold if your blend door is working properly. You’ll also feel it change to cold or atleast warm air. Safe to say that your blend door is working fine if that happens... and you probably have an a/c problem... if you don’t hear any difference and your temperature stays the same whether you put it Max hot or cold then yes it’s the blend door. You can get a cheap thermometer and stick it in any vent and monitor the temperature for that one

    • @hicemm
      @hicemm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on where you take it to get repaired... if you go to a dealer you are looking at an easy 2-3k given that it’s done the proper way by removing the dashboard. If you take it to a regular shop where they also take the dashboard out you’ll still be at about 1500 and up... if one was to repair it the way I did in this video at a shop you’d be looking at about 800-1200 and if u got a buddy that’s handy I’m sure they’d charge in the area of give or take 500... all in all it’s just a bit of a complicated job which ever way you go one is quicker then the other but requires skill as if the wrong move is made cutting into something you shouldn’t ( heater core ) then ur stuck having to take the dash out regardless and now spending more on parts... although I’m about to sound contradicting it’s really not that bad if you take your time, use the right tools and follow the exact cut line as I did so don’t let me discourage you from possibly trying the job yourself I’m just being as clear as I can be. Also don’t quote me on those prices exact I could still be a couple hundred off higher or lower
