I worked for 2 years at a company that manufactured rifle scopes and worked on just about fascinating very machine in the plant. It was fascinating to watch for the first day or two on each new machine but then it got very boring very fast. You just stand there with a wooden stick to keep all of the shavings that come off of the part being cut and formed from getting in the way of the tool heads and load a new 20ft bar of metal as needed. The pieces where precision milled down to +/- no more than 3 ten thousands of an inch and if they were off by even 1 ten thousands either way the machine was shut down until it could be adjusted correctly. Very boring work but great pay and benefits. Oh, if anyone reading this very boring comment is in to rifle scopes the company was Leopold and Stevens. Manufacturers of Leopold scopes. The best in the business.

Serious?
The wire come in a coil where it's feed in the machine to take whatever form is programmed, usually springs, then it goes in a oven to be heat treated

Those springs were responsible for whacking my finger many times when starting the little engines.
Wow, that needs serious thinking, exceptional computing power, to get each tool bit incorrect sequence and time delay. AMAZING
