Nice install. I HAVE A TKX IN MY 86 COUPE. IT does that sometimes also for reverse. But i still love it. Im in the process of doing a wedge for my shifter, to get mines over to the left a little.
Nice! Now that mine is broken in, it shifts so buttery smooth. I really like it! I made a batch of those spacers for sale... www.thisoldfarmshop.com/store/tkxspacer.php Thanks for the comment and for watching!
@@ThisOldFarmShop nice, i founded out that my right motor mount stud has moved down in my kmember by a inch. Shifter is to one side, right. Bring thoese blocks to foxtoberfest and sale out.
I'm installing 1 as well. on chevy motor sbc motor. problem I having so far the throw bearing sizes. I have to change the pressure plate the fingers to stall.
I know this is about a year old but many don't know this, reverse is not synchronized and the tkx manual does say to put into 1st before reverse to prevent grinding.
Thanks for posting. Enjoyed the review. You have a nice car 🙂. In the process of installing a TKX in my Barracuda. Ordered the complete kit from SST. It's replacing the original A230 three speed. Best Regards - Mike
Put a hydraulic clutch setup in there from Anderson Ford Motorsports or Silver Sport Transmissions to eliminate the cable. The shifter stupid is straight up on a TKX to where the T5 has a lean towards the driver 5 degrees
A hydraulic cluth pedal would be awesome! Looks like they cost a pretty penny though... Are they worth it? Yeah, I wonder why the TKX doesn't lean towards the driver. Is it because they cater to foreign cars too?
The TKX is used for various vehicles is why it's straight up. Yes for sure the hydraulic setup is worth every penny with all the benefits, don't have to adjust it ever, set and forget. Way more room for exhaust with no clutch fork a d cable in the way.
Do you happen to know how far offset your driveline is? I’m going to be really close to the passenger tunnel. Can you measure the distance from the shifter stick to the passenger cover opening?
I don't have the car in the shop at the moment... You can get a pretty good idea from these 2 timestamps from the video... th-cam.com/video/s0cebx6en6k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=tbumCfMybWuZ-IXf&t=957 and th-cam.com/video/s0cebx6en6k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=btczt5shp9OAwVl1&t=222 I hope that is helpful!
Everyone I know has ran into issues with the aftermarket bellhousing. Biggest one I've see is run out on the crank centerline. More than 5 thou out and you can get the reverse grind. I ended up going with the adapter for the stock bell.
Maybe you did it off camera, but check your pinion angle from the trans output to the driveshaft flange and make sure they are in spec. Possibly could cause vibrations when driving. There should be shims from the energy suspension mount to change the tranny angle. Also 4th then into reverse works too. Reverse is not synchronized. Your angle of your widebands might be too low relative to horizontal, causing them to collect moisture as exhaust flows by, which can foul them. Can’t tell from camera though. You’ll enjoy the TKX!
@@ThisOldFarmShop Thank you. I have bought the same cam for my 408 build and was wondering about drivability. I will be going to 3:55 as soon as I remove the 3:73's. You have a sweet looking car, really clean. I am working on an 89 GT Ohio car; it is still in good shape but showing its age. I bought a new TKX trans and will install that shortly. It has the 3550 TKO I installed many years ago after the T5 died. Keep up the good work, liking your videos.

McLeod RST or RXT twin disc will feel like an import. Best purchase ever.

Thanks for the video, I may have missed it but what rear end gear are you running with the TKX 287 1st gear?
3.55. thanks for watching!!

Aftermarket Bell housings should be indexed
Are you making the shifter spacers by any chance? Thanks, Dave
I am actually! Here's the link thisoldfarmshop.com/store/ thanks!

I did not check the pinion angle! Thanks for pointing that out! I'll do that this weekend. 👍👍
Did you get the 10 spline? What ratio?
Got the 26 spline,
First: 2.87:1
Second: 1.89:1
Third: 1.28:1
Fourth: 1.00:1
Fifth: 0.68:1
Have to send my new tkx back this month, 4th doesn’t work 😢
Oh no! What happened? Did it SHTB with normal driving or were there other more extreme circumstances?
Ya Buddy!
what rear gear are you running?
3.55. thanks for watching!

Richard Holdener, I think his name is, did a dyno video on this cam. It does make real power.
@@douglasschuler9604 Nice! I do plan to take it back to the dyno. Just haven't had the time or time off from work yet. 👍
