Thank you! There is one major sound mistake - the mix is too high in the "touch me" preset. Still bothers me after all these years!

@raoninery: I've always used the Axe, but tried the M13 at one point to see what it was like. Other questions have long answers. Please first search the discussion threads on the U2_Guitar_Tutorials Google group. If you can't find the answer, then post your question on the group message board.
@2020cody: Thx! Watch my other videos. I use the Axe-Fx Ultra and the new Axe II. Best pedal for U2 in general for a reasonable price is the Line 6 HD500.
Sorry, don't understand your question. Some parts are clean, but there is an added drive for the chorus, and various effects for the lead. See the series of tutorials for details.

Thanks. Both are great choices. I have 57s in my LP and Seth Lovers in this Epi Explorer. You can't go wrong with either. In the same class generally.

Sorry, missed this one. Logic is a DAW and audio recording/mixing software for the Mac. I create a midi channel track and program midi commands to control my rig. Logic is my "Dallas" and makes all program and control changes automatically in sync with the back track.

I had to focus on the pup switching, so I used Logic to do the program and control changes. Logic is now my electronic Dallas Schoo.

For the chorus, no drive pedal. I chose an amp model that was closest to Edge's tone. I used the CA3+ LD amp model with drive up at 6.5. Combined it with a 4x12 Recto1 cab model and you get some very nice distortion. The key to the Axe is not to always rely on the drive models. Each amp has it's own drive sound if you turn the drive up high enough.

You might not notice it, but I'm lifting my middle finger on the B to make it a Bm. I'm playing a Bm chord. But also Edge does not often play the third on the G string in many songs. I think I read somewhere he doesn't like to play it. In fact, I'm strumming the E, A and D string only, so I'm lifting my middle finger just in case I hit the G string, but I usually don't hit it.

I keep coming back to watch you again with Beautiful Day.This in my mind is the very best cover on TH-cam .I also Have this Epiphone Explorer made in indonesia.I got mine on ebay UK with a case it is in mint condition never played.Micheal can you do a cover of KITE on this explorer only a small request . The back track vocals may be from there, but I was aiming for the tone on Letterman (but didn't quite get it).

I've been trying to learn how to play the whole Rose Bowl show (I'm a begginer, i guess) and you've been really helpful! The only problem is I have to try to apply your patches to my G2.Nu1 xD, but still, your videos are great!!!!
Thank you. I would go with a Fender Stratocaster, MIM (made in Mexico). Not expense, but a versatile guitar. You can play a lot of U2 songs on a Strat (Streets, Pride, Bad, ISHFWILF, etc.).

I don't have a MIM, but they are not expensive and I've heard good things. The pickups are more important than what year the guitar was made. Sure, you can buy a '70s strat, but they're expensive. You are not going to be able to get Edge's exact guitar anyway. Join our forum for the effect questions. I use Fractal Audio's Axe-Fx II.
I've never owned one but heard it's great for U2. You need a modulated digital delay. Modulation is the key.

Hi, I find it odd that people can comment on things, ie, intro too long, i agree, just dont watch it pal and waste someone elses time. But me, i think your great and you sound as much as the Edge, as the Edge, and in your own front room as to say, brilliant and I have found your "how to" as one of best on UTUBE, excellent.

Hallo Michel, what a good teacher you are for U2 songs. Great to meat you with U2 Guitar Tutorials. I use Line6 HD500 and DT25 Amp. How do you chance presets in a song like Beautiful Day. Only with the guitar ? I have to chance HD500 and guitar together.

@CapoOfficial: Great guitar, excellent neck! But replace the pups. I suggest Seth Lovers for U2 stuff. It can be used for other songs. Not quite as full sounding as an LP.

Ralqh (Pat) has much more experience and is a huge U2 fan with many great covers. You will note that his version is multiple tracks with some mixing involved. Pat is very talented.

Hey, you used to use the M13, now youre using the Axe FX... what do you think about the new POD HD500? It seems really cool.... and simulates the AC30 with microphonation.... deck tape etc.... and have all the effects of the M13? whats the best in your opinion? best regards

What do you think of the Epi Explorer? Can it be used for songs that usae a Les Paul as well, like Zoo Station or Until The End of The World?

Excellent as always, Michael. One question about the Epi. All Epi explorers I've seen are "korina" and show wood grain. Yours doesn't seem to show any grain? Custom finish? Looks really nice.
Do you use a MIM strat as well? And would like to know somethng I don't know if you know it but why does edge prefer 70s strats but not like 2010 or something? And what kind of effects would you recommend to a not beginner but little advanced guitar player

U2 was on the Letterman show for an entire week years ago and they played Beautiful Day on one night. There should be a video on TH-cam somewhere. I liked the tone in that version. Came close to it, but not exactly.
U2 Guitar Tutorials there's actually that tone you were talking about as recent as U2 performed with Coldplay signer for the RED concert I think. May not be sure
