      I saw them a few nights ago. They were good. The guys signing sounded A LOT like David. I mean, really, really close. They're a good band. That's for sure. The system sounded good too. That's how I got here. I looked up Fractal Audio Systems when the show was over.

    the world is full of patches on pink floyd, including on fractal... i don't understand why g66 doesn't sell the package made by brit floyd, they would make more money than with the fm3 line! I personally would pay even 500 euros for such a professional pack

      To be frank... I stopped using any modelling stuff and replaced it by real gear and I don't regret... Note that I know how to customize analog electronics, in fact, I was already building my own boutique guitar amps about 35y ago... but due to serious setbacks, I started to use DI stuff like the Rocktron Chameleon in 1995... And I know pretty well the modelling stuff, be it the AxeFX, the Cortex, the Kemper, the Line6 and Roland stuff, NI Guitar Rig? Amplitube? I was of the very first users!!! And even older plugins than these... At the present day, the only digital stuff left in my rig is what I can't do the analog way because it's impossible e.g the Eventide Harmonizer, or it would be impossible to make for financial reasons 'coz there is no cathedral for sales to be used as my natural reverb, then don't count on me to get ripped off with an EMT-140 plate reverb, any way, where would I put this?
      I still have a DAW at the studio but... I'm a little more modest than Gilmour : I havent a Neve 88R mixing console, as well as three Studer A827 24 tracks reel tape recorders and ATC monitoring, but... An Amek Big-44 coupled with a Big-28 and the very last generation of Tascam 24 tracks with Dynaudio monitoring and the SCOPE-Pro DAW, it's pretty neat...

      @harounel-poussah6936 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@godzoo18 Same for Fractal, Kemper and QuadCortex.
      There are even artists I stopped to intend the concerts because all this modelling stuff is like sulphuric acid smell for my ears.
      It's like replacing sugar with saccharine or replacing the fresh baguette of the day with sliced bread under plastic...

    Excellent overview of some very technically accurate sounds, have frequently enjoyed listening to Edo's own YT channel separately showing his solos on various Floyd tracks (always gravitating to both Comfortably Numb and Poles Apart). Particularly impressed with that tone match for the 12 string on Wish You Were Here, especially in comparison to the natural sound without effects. Very impressive on that feedback that's able to be driven out of the Axe FX. Definitely in the very top tier of Tribute Acts, well done to all of you!

    @EdoardoScordo :
    TWO GREAT TIPS FOR YOU:
    1.) Use a Yamaha FC-7 as volume control so you can slash the footswitch you use for boost purpose : the FC-7 has a spring in end-course... I usually set up the MIDI volume at 90 in the position the plate is topped by the (rather hard) spring...
    Then, push it with your foot and keep your foot on, oooops, my MIDI volume is now 127... signal boosted! I xas already using the FC-7 with the ART SGE and a Boss FC-50 more than 30 years ago !!!!
    2.)Replace your Strat by the Vigier Excalibur Supra, you won't need the pitch shifter for the Money solo! Just put your Strat PUs into the Excalibur and use a duplo pot to get the 2 tone controls, thus, since, under the pickguard, you have a HSH routing on all, even the SSS ones, I strongly recommand to have custom handwound PUs made to your taste... I was in a PF cover band about 15 years ago and so did I...
    A very nice setup from neck to bridge :
    N: Strat'71 + SD Jeff Beck Jr.
    M : Strat'71
    B : DiMarzio FS-1 + DM Custom Shop Half Track OR a SC sized Super Distortion
    Noter : my PU guy hand rewound the PUs and made fully the Fender replicas, he install a magnetic barrage so, e.g. the ceramic magnet of the Half Track won't rot the alnico-5 FS-1. In fact, it's more a synthesis of my 2 Excaliburs in order to get ideas : one has Abigail Ybarra PUs, so it's more into Hendrix, the Half Track is in bridge and the FS-1 in neck like Knopfler... The JB.Jr and the Super Distortion go with the The Wall set...
    The Half Track has enough output level for e.g. Metallica's Ride the Lightning, but, lower the pot volume and you can sound near like a very old Telecaster! Using the Muff Germanium4, I can sound like Page on Led Zep 1 !!!
    The Freeway 10 posn blade selector replaces any 5 posn one, you just have to up/down the lever on any posn... I have one push pull to reverse the central PU phase and a kill-switch on each too...
    Since you can replace pickguards withour a soldering iron, I have severa other ones for other uses, I just pointed what is intended for Strat replacement.
    I can guarantee you that will never regret dumping your Fender Strat... They hadn't a real one as theses weren't available in USA at the time, there were just a few shops in Europe, but what is said about Excalibur in Wayne's World is true!

      It would cost you over 100k to duplicate Gilmour’s rig with his actual amps and effects. 1000’s of high profile artists and sidemen have been using fractal gear for a decade and they are basically bullet proof. I’ve been using fractal gear for almost 4 years and never sounded this good with my tube amps, pedals and mic live. Yes the real amps sound better on a studio or in your basement. But for a small to medium size band without a dedicated sound engineer tweaking mic positions and settings throughout the whole show you won’t sound that good, specially if you are relying on an underpaid house tech who could care less about your band. With the fractal you just give him the 2 xlr lines and ask him to keep gain and Eq flat and you have repeated results night after night regardless of where you are. You won’t get that with a tube amp. And I love tube amps and have been using them for almost 40 years…

    • @BobbyHarrisonGuitar
      @BobbyHarrisonGuitar ปีที่แล้ว +12

      There’s a reason why touring musicians use amp modellers. The old valve amp vs modeller argument has raged on since the introduction of the Line 6 Pod. There will always be purists who will insist that valve amps are better than modellers. That’s fine, but it’s beside the point.
      Yes, valve amps are amazing! Speaking from personal, professional experience, I toured with valve amps for years. I’ve also toured using Axe FX, Kemper and Quad Cortex based rigs. These days, when you hear a good amp modeller though a front of house PA, the sound quality is indistinguishable from a mic’d valve amp. Ask any professional sound engineer. Not only that, but the sound of a modeller-based rig will be consistent night after night.
      The likes of David Gilmour, Slash and John Mayer have the luxury and budget of touring with a backline of multiple valve amps, a backup for everything and enough crew on hand to replace anything that goes down mid-gig. It’s expected of them to use the real thing.
      However, on a show like Brit Floyd, where you have to authentically replicate sounds from multiple eras, using a host of effects, an amp modeller can be a very sensible option. Plus, it sounds great!
      If you only use 3 sounds in your entire set, with minimal effects, and if you're comfortable lugging 4x12 cabs around the world, use your valve amp.
      The choice isn’t down to either/or. Valve amp users aren’t renouncing vintage amps in favour of modellers, but instead opting for convenience. It just comes down to choosing the right tool for the job.

Did you miss what he explained...he has purposely eq'd out frequencies that if too much bottom end will disturb the other musicians and he would not be able to hear them! Look, watch how Pete Thorn governs his stereo amp rig on the Rock Show tour he's done and you suddenly realize it's not all about you!
      Robert Wyatt said about Dave Gilmour that "he has a sense for the entire piece of music, it's not all about me and my axe.'
      Ditto! If you're a bedroom rock star blasting yourself through the back wall, you would think this normal, good tone good fun?....Nah!

    It sounds really close but also extremely thin! Like a digital snapshot of the finished product rather than the real equipment but in a mix with all the other stuff i doubt if anyone could tell but it sounds like glorified line6 vetta products to me honestly....great tools ...but also floyd has to sound spot on every night where's i would improvise more

      Have you ever used a fractal in real life ? Guessing your listening on a phone or computer. ? Sound rez sucks on TH-cam and it’s compressed to hell. Live fractals sound better then the real thing. And with fractal it’s literally sonic-ly perfect and the the ideal page not to mention everything else if you really want to get into it. If you play guitar give a fractal a chance you might like it.

      I was a close-minded guy just like you, suddenly I got the chance to play through a Fractal unit, Believe it or not, I'm not interested in real amps anymore.
