My 08 sequoia is in the shop getting a rebuild right now. I watched this to justify the $3800 bill. After watching this, I feel like I am getting a deal! HOLY COW that is a complex transmission. Like looking into a magicians hat.
Thank you for the video. I enjoyed watching the teardown. I realized the video was merely focused on the teardown and not meant as a tutorial for would-be... do-it-yourselfers wanting to attempt the same task at home, but such a tear-down video would be helpful for the first timers. For example, keeping the bolts together and labeled, looking closer at the case for cracks, cleaning procedures, where to get parts and manuals, tools needed, etc... Again, thank you for the video.

Your channel popped up on my algorithm and so out of curiosity I had to check it out. As someone who used to make transmission castings for a living, its always fascinating to see a transmission with all of its "guts" in it and see how they work. Now I make bearings for a living. The same bearings that goes into transmissions, differentials, and hubs.
At my age of 72 I have owned many different trucks and also driven a lot of work trucks of all brands. In my driveway now is my dream truck. A 2018 Tundra Platinum. That transmission is the mack daddy. I have never had a transmission that shifted as smooth as this machine. Ford, Chevy and certainly not Ram can touch this truck. PERIOD
Have a p2714 pressure solenoid D performance or stuck off and p0761 shift solenoid performance or stuck off codes. Any chance replacing these solenoids can save the transmission. Only slips 4th as far as i can tell early in the AM on cold days. Changed the fluid over the weekend and it was pretty black so not a good sign. May drop pan today if bolts cooperate.
@@iptperformancetrans the problem isnt horrible yet. Drives fine on warm days and good after warms up on cold days but yeah after I replace the solenoids guess I'll start saving for a reman
Does the code P2714 and P0761 mean the issues are more likely burnt out clutches than bad valve body? The truck tends to behave fine after initial driving and being stuck in 3rd gear for about two miles
No reverse.. slowly went out when giving more gas in reverse. And then I had mix match tires for 7 8 days and only 2 wheel drive tundra BTW. But every thing works and slap stick all 6 gears. Idles down when I to reverse. And 362k on her. 13 tundra a7603 trans

2002 Tundra 4 wheel drive. Trailer hitched on and backing the trailer up. Shifted into 4 wheel. Backed trailer over a curb then into its parking spot. Two days later, driving Tundra into my driveway and car died. I can start the Tundra, but when I shift out of park to Drive, Tundra dies. (It doesn't stall in neutral) Reminds me of a manual when the clutch is released without gas, causing engine to die. Could this be a transmission problem, or shift solenoid? I am running out ot tows.
I’m having an issue with this AB60e it’s not going together the way I think it should it was hard to spin the output tail shaft so I’ve taken it apart I was wondering if I could get your advice on what I could be doing wrong
Do you know what causes that kick into second gear on tundras? If im smooth with it or im turning, you can barely feel it. If i floor it, it feels like a honda fit rear eneded me when it goes into second. All other shifts are smooth no problem. Its just the first shift thats worrying. Could it be the drive shaft support bearing?
? So reverse is not engaged by a solenoid? All hydraulic via valves, manual valve/lever position etc... wow, i've been without reverse for a year.... and just 2 days ago I'm experiencing no 1rst in standard mode as well as either slipping or binding on accelerating from a stop. After finally n sluggishly reaching cruising speeds 4, 5, n 6 ranges seem fine. 328k on my 08 Tundra. 1:29
The A750 is the older 5 speed auto, the biggest engine they ever put it behind was the 4.7l V8 (2UZ). It was used up until 2010. But if you got the 5.7l V8 (3UR) in the Tundra, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, or Lexus LX570, you got the AB60 which is an even stronger transmission and it's a 6 speed. You'll want the largest engine and the strongest transmission which would be the AB60 or AB60F. Toyota designates the F at the end for a 4WD transmission.
