    Rich's face at 5:48 when Trent says it's pretty much a one-man show and the camera slowly zooms in and cuts him out of frame... And then Trent says maybe in a couple of albums he'll "find people that are really worthy of collaboration!" No wonder Rich left.

    When this interview came out I lived in foster care-I didn't have the opportunities to go to concerts at that time- The 'system is terrible because they didn't even ensure we had clothes for school or school supplies or anything that was a necessity yet alone a luxury like going to a concert or even a school field trip or prom-That's another story but I really hope things have improved since then although I highly doubt it-I Love Finding interviews with Trent Reznor-10th Comment here- Please post more & To Trent: Please bring Nine Inch Nails to NY in 2022- Stay Safe & Healthy & Great Job through the years-I can relate to so many songs & Love the Emotion & Realness behind every song & I Love Watching Live shows here on TH-cam but I'd Love to Actually see you Live-I'm in Long Island New York

      [ CJ SAWYER ] Hello, the dude to te left is Richard Patrick, a former and touring guitarist for Nine Inch Nails for two and half years, and he can be seen in the music videos for "Down In It," "Head Like A Hole," "Wish," and "Gave Up."
      His only recorded contribution-a droning guitar sound-can be heard at the end of "Sanctified" on Pretty Hate Machine.

      There could have been an influence in their style and sound at one point, Down In It sounds more like a Pop Will Eat Itself ripoff than a Skinny Puppy ripoff if you ask me.

    • @HenritheHorse
      @HenritheHorse 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@BooksMusicMe17 It's clearly Skinny Puppy's Dig It copy.

    • @BooksMusicMe17
      @BooksMusicMe17 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ That's what Trent said in 1994, yeah, but the two songs aren't sonically so close there's not room for any other influence. Especially in early 90s interviews, Trent tends to overemphasise references with industrial cred (Skinny Puppy, Ministry) while downplaying ones no longer seen as cool (e.g. Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, Bowie, all of which he did say later were hugely influential).
      That said, I was wrong to say PWEI were definitely an influence; I'd mistakenly thought they were on Wax Trax in the US, which Trent said he listened to religiously, but they were actually on Rough Trade. It's probable he never heard Box Frenzy before recording Down In It and any similarities are just due to the shared influence from hip-hop sampling culture. (FWIW on the UK scene, Trent also said he hated Manchester bands and house music).

    • @HenritheHorse
      @HenritheHorse 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ They are too close not to be influenced, even down to the name. Same beats, sounds and guitar hits.

    • @BooksMusicMe17
      @BooksMusicMe17 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ Oh, I'm absolutely not saying Dig It wasn't the an influence, just that I think there could also be also other influences. Sorry to be unclear!
