    Never knew Nathan can be so pleasurable and informative to watch once he drops his "over caffeinated middle aged man trying too hard to be funny and failing miserably" persona. Good on you man. Keep up the good work!

    Great review, Nathan! This car has a decent base price, but the options/add-ons PLUS rear legroom would be the "deal-breaker for me!

    Seems like a fine vehicle, and I wouldn't mind one. As he stated, a "couple" of road types, thus forestry road driving is not OFF road driving. Off road driving is usually done in Land Rover's, Toyota's, Nissan's and Jeep's in general. And terms of articulation, ground clearance, entry and departure angles get used. etc... For the trolls and note as I state my post is about the usage of "off road" and it seems like a fine vehicle.

    I am starting to warm to Volvo, a car for years which I felt was a bit boring, saw a V40 liked this too, but read it is based on a Ford Focus, and was a bit too expensive by comparison

    • @Yoboji
      @Yoboji 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Ford focus is BASED on the v/s40 platform. It's not the other way around. And saying it that way makes a difference. It's a Volvo chassis that Ford liked so much they put on their own cars whereas a Ford chassis that was cheap enough to put on a Volvo.

    • @lffit
      @lffit 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I read the exact oposite, which stands to reason as Ford owned the company until a few years ago, before Volvo becam Chinese owned.

    • @ImDembe
      @ImDembe 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      lffit The Volvo is more refined than a Focus and more safe.
      A friend have a XC V40 with the D2 120hp or whatever it is, works very good since it's a small car and you get great milage.

    • @FantomLightning
      @FantomLightning 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      lffit Ford took a platform Volvo developed and cheapened it, many places say that very clearly. Sorry hunty, but you're very, very wrong.

    I've had multiple volvos and currently have an XC90, the brakes are always super touchy except for my old 850 the brakes where utter crap, you'd literally have to put all of your body weight to make them work...might just be because it was old though....

  • @ImDembe
    @ImDembe 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's to bad US market don't get the 2.0 turbo, same numbers but one cylinder less and better milage. I really hope they put that T5 on the US market and ofc they have the new T6 that's only 4-cylinder and 305hp! Most importantly the new engines come with the 8-speed automatic and it's way way way way way way way better than the old 6-speed in all situations.
    About the AWD the Haldex 5 in general kicks in when the backwheels slip so the car is basicly FWD until it get slippery, don't know if they made any changes for this car because it's pretty easy i guess, the S60 Polestar (the expensive one) have a modified Haldex system and it has a 60/40 power split front/back as standard and can sen atleast 80% to the backwheels.

  • @FantomLightning
    @FantomLightning 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    "Haldex tuned specifically for this car." What's the point of saying that? All manufacturers work with Haldex to have the system set up to the specs they want. From power distribution on take off to how much it can send to each axle.

    I would love to watch a video of this car on a high speed motorway performance. I am very interested in this car and considering getting it but all videos show the car in the cross country setting but not on a motorway. it would be a final note on my decision.

    • @ericmalvey5431
      @ericmalvey5431 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rui Martins This car is excellent on the motorway. I own one, and have put about 6000 miles on it, and I have no complaints whatsoever. It is very composed and stable on the motorway. If you have any questions for an owner, feel free to ask.

    • @TheRuiMartins
      @TheRuiMartins 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Malvey Thank you so much Eric. I am curious with how the car behaves at 70-80 mph on motorways. I am interested on the D4 (190 bhp) FWD. You already said it to be stable but is the raised suspension able to handle turns without to much body roll? I know it is not a sports car but on long trips I do reach and try to keep 80 mph (130 kmph) most of the time.

    • @ericmalvey5431
      @ericmalvey5431 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I live in North America, so we have the turbo 5 petrol here, but that won't affect the driving dynamics, just thought I would let you know. It easily handles corners without body roll. I believe the suspension is essentially taken straight off its big brother XC60, so with the car being lighter, there is very little body roll. It handles speed at 80 mph very well. No vibration through the wheel, and the word I think of to describe it would have to be Confident.

    • @TheRuiMartins
      @TheRuiMartins 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Malvey Awesome! I just feel it is a great looking car without being too "in your face".
      Thank you Eric. I live in the UK and I am so looking forward to get it. Hope your V60 CC gives you a lot of fun in those amazing American roads. : )

    • @ericmalvey5431
      @ericmalvey5431 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course, any time. Im really loving the car. Drove it in the snow for the first time the other day, and as long as you were sensible it handled it without any problems. I totally agree! Very good looking without at all being over the top. If you've got one coming your way, Enjoy it!

    If they offered a diesel i would have bought it in a heartbeat. I ended up with a 328d wagon but i think the volvo looks a lot better and its cheaper. I hate how suv's drive and needed more space for my mountain bike trips and wagons fit the part. But i also wanted good mpg's. Stop being shy volvo and unleash your full diesel lineup in the US.

    Why dont you take this up the trail you put the Outback on, and compare it to a Raptor? Outback is much cheaper and just as good,

    • @ImDembe
      @ImDembe 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's better offroad since Subaru have a fulltime AWD system (probably the best one used in normal cars) but a Subaru isn't even close in terms of refinement and safety overall.
      I would not compare the Outback to the V60 CC either, XC70 is a better match for it since this is a compact estate to match the Audi A4 Allroad, Bmw X1 etc.

      You'd be surprised. I live in the mountains and drive my XC70 like its a rally car. Had a blast yesterday trying to go as fast as I could on like a 10 mile snowy windy, high mountain road. Plenty of ground clearance, super forgiving suspension and a great AWD system. I take it on nasty rutted out forest service trails getting to trailheads, too. These things are built for this kind of driving. 100,000 miles, 7 years, and zero problems on mine.

      I can't take you seriously by you saying Volvo is "overrated". It's just about the most underrated car company in the entire world. They make products every bit as good as the German luxury manufacturers and do it slightly less expensively, but get a quarter of the sales.
