I couldn’t agree more, it’s actually laughable that a character like mantis gets a figure update before a character like Tobey Maguire Spider-Man. He’s a generational icon and is THE spiderman. Hot toys clearly don’t give a shit about Tobey. Great video

The issue is Hot Toys has no dialogue with their customers. It's all one-way communication with Facebook announcements and "blogger photo" posts. If there's no transparency and evidence that they're listening to customers you get frustrations like you're articulating. I love their products but I can appreciate your concerns.

%100 agree. It’s ridiculous and so obvious that they do it knowingly. The Fives helmet is them being cheap not wanting to make a new mold, so they proceed to reuse items knowing that is inaccurate. As small as that is, it’s what bothers me the most. They don’t hesitate to raise their prices, but can’t even invest a little more in accuracy? C’mon now

We dont know for sure they aren't updating Tobey. They didn't announce the update on mantis until release. That said, this was just updated head sculpt where they had a new proto from the GOG3 line. Theh didnt put new engineering into it.
That’s valid, hopefully it ends up actually updating 👌 but this can be said for other figures that do release that they get wrong. Like the red suit tobey
I have to disagree. We had no idea this was being updated until they released it. So we have no idea if they're updating tobey and we probably won't know until it releases.
That’s fair, but remember. Figures even such the red and blue tobey released fully and came out wrong again. So it’s sort of redundant even with past releases, doc ock as well. I was just highlighting Tobey because I created the movement. Thanks for watching
I am all for respectfully letting HT know what could be improved, like how Daniel clearly articulates his points on FB with reference photos. It is really confusing how HT seems to neglect some really popular primary characters, but show extreme attention to detail with supporting characters. Great vid man!

Interesting thoughts! I love the passionate takes. I dont totally agree this specifically is the straw breaking the camels back though. In many ways, it does highlight the inconsistency in their approach to their craft /art. But it also gives me some hope that if they do start giving characters like mantis more love, maybe we will see that translate to others as well like Tobey! It's overly optimistic maybe, but the science and tech continues to improve. The ability to render likeness and apply insane paint work. Plus they need to save something for all the 3.0's!! 😅🤙
That’s fair bro, I view it more as inconsistent as we’ve already had a far share of upgrades in the past (peacemaker, mysterio new head sculpt) and others. But future figures not getting the same attention. Thanks for watching and giving your take on it 👌

Just like I said on Facebook, I won’t write out my thoughts as it’d be long winded, but I admire your passion and glad you expressed your own thoughts on this matter. Ideally, we’d all want more accuracy and for Hot Toys to be consistent across the board; they’re more than capable of putting more effort into the details.

Yet whenever someone points out that, they will be attacked by tons of people online, especially on reddit.
Hottoys charge a premium price but their quality is about the same as hasbro, even the designs are less lively, lot of structures are sculpted digitally without putting much efforts, look at their armoured batman 2.0, the horns are rectangular and not refined like the original release, their newer products are all like that more angular and rough, it's like someone simply putting shapes together then call it finished.
I don't think 'better' paintjob is enough to be regarded as premium, especially that their qc is not as good as back in the day.
I cannot stand that, how people can actually be mad at people trying to make a figure better. If anything you should be rooted on! Leads to toxic conversations definitely, thank you for sharing your insights
I love my doc ock figure. Looks amazing. Is the sculpt accurate perhaps not. But with the glasses on it looks like an awesome figure. One of my favs

Would love to see a video about the inart joker being lazy and cheap with the batches that suffered immense quality drops after the influencer ones. Be fair.
I can cover this if it holds true. But I’ve seen people get later jokers that look exactly like mine. And I got mine fairly early. The QC issues with joker doesn’t seem to be a common thing. This also has nothing to do with this video as I’m regarding prototypes and changing them
Completely agree, sucks how any and all constructive criticism is disregarded by majority of collectors as complaining. Like we are criticizing it because we love it and want it to be better, and if hot toys listens to the feedback and makes changes to make it better? Everyone wins in the end because we get a better figure.

Another example of they making big improvements over the prototype was Peacemaker. They announced it with a horrendous body, but the final product was a work of art. Hope the Blacksuit Tobey gets fixed too.

Hot Toys are banging out the figures, but quality is slipping on some, not all! Just got Mighty Thor and She-Hulk, both have superb head sculpts!
Love to see those turn out great. They’re definitely on it I just wish figures that are so popular didn’t turn out so lackluster!

I agree with you. Hot Toys company creator Mr. Howard Chen said, “ His company strives to make the most accurate representation of sixth scale figures”. It was his passion as a collector, who could not purchase accurate figures, which led to him starting his company. If they are not delivering on that promise, then they should be calling out about it. Hot Toys is selling their products for a good sum of money and collectors deserve not to be cheated on accuracy. I have heard time and time again to vote with your wallet but sometimes speaking up can help get the corrected figures into our hands. The Tony Stank incident is a good example. Keep fighting the good fight and I hope they hear you and do what’s best.

Dude solid points for sure. That Mantis does look crazy good tho. Reminds me of that theory that HTs goes OFF on figures that are less popular. But will take the easy route with figures of super popular characters. As a big Tobey and Spidey fan, im actually passing on the Symbiote Tobey and pretty happy I am doing so, bc i def wont be giving them anymore money from my wallet towards inaccurate Tobey Spideys. Rather it go to the customizers that will make me accurate and better looking figures 🙌

Get used to it fellas, hot toys has been disappointing It's supporters for over 10 years. I came into the 1/6th scale game in 2010 ish. There has been figures shown that even never got made.
Example - some Terminator figures were shown as a teaser or prototype that never got made.
They pick and choose what they want not what we want. And now since they're in bed with Disney and marvel. They're going to cater to what they want.
You damn right Tobey Maguire Spider-Man is the Spider-Man. They're just going to give you a mediocre figure but fix an issue with a NPC character like mantis

They aren’t cheap nor lazy and I think people should show some respect and patience for the company that there willingly giving money to and that have already given many extraordinary figures that collectors like us enjoy. It’s unfair to criticize and make up your own allegations against them without knowing the full picture. Criticizing them like this just makes us seem ungrateful and it doesn’t make Hot toys want to give us their best work.
I understand the frustration for sure, but what’s the counter to this, saying nothing and accepting non accurate products? Like I said, I understand very minor details, but sometimes it’s just too drastic and leaves big fans of the character like me and others dissatisfied. Again, I just want to provide clarity, my intention isn’t to hate

A couple of things here, you’re constantly complaining about making changes to the black suit Spider-Man and the figure has not even been released yet so we ultimately don’t know what the end product is going to look like. If you cared that much about this character and hot toys made something that was not to your standard you would pass on the figure But I can probably guarantee you’re buying it regardless of how it turns out. Maybe ask John from in art if they can make you one?

Real collectors vote with their wallet. Ht have made hundreds of figures with only a few lackluster ones. 20+ years in business, no other company can compare. If a figure doesn't meet standards, don't buy.

If a character that is so beloved is not being made to someone's standards go the custom route and have it made perfectly. Going custom is to much for many hence why they will continue to buy Hot Toys lol He will still buy this figure to review it for his channel to either bash it or praise it so this rant video is pointless.
