I saw in another first look video that the batteries are cross compatible between the q2 and q3, just the capacity got increased. It’s just 2200 mAh (8.4 V) vs 1860 mAh (8.4 V) and the same charger. Small update bhphoto video shows the new battery, BP-SCL6, for Q2, Q3, SL2, SL2-S series which given the cost of these, and the new model is $100 cheaper, woohoo for keeping compatibility across models / upgrades but also a nice little bump when getting one of these for an older camera.
I am so stoked for this camera. I still have the original Q and love it, but definitely feel it's age so many years later even though it is still a power horse, I would love to get this new camera, but the price tag is a bit much, but I do know it is worth it and I think this new version has enough advancements to last for a long time.
If you know that a Leica camera and lens are not assembled by robots, but by highly trained experts who put each Leica together manually and every step is tested before the next you get an understanding why a Leica‘s price tag is bigger than that of other cameras. I got the chance to visit the Leica factory in Germany and the next day I bought a Q3.
Battery is the same format it’s just a newer one that has a higher capacity but you can still use your old ones and can even pop the new one in your Q2/SL2 for better battery life!
I have a Leica M240 and I love it. But I've wanted a Q camera for a long time now. Seems like a great form factor and would be a great compliment when I want something simpler and with autofocus.
Not sure what the first 11 minutes was about, but super cool video about how Kirk has never seen the Bourne Identity! I am also shocked that he hasn't seen the very popular blockbuster.
Love seeing improvements being made in the Q line, but still not in any hurry to upgrade from my original Q. It’s the sweet-spot, and I will likely never part ways with it.

I literally just found out that the Q3 came out yesterday and I was looking at it on their site, and one of the first things I said was man, I can’t wait for Pete to make a video about this 🥺❤️

Selling this 7k camera thru youtubers or influencer still tough for market, but sure they want to get mindshare of the camera industry in more wider audience
having owned several sony cameras and now the Q and Q2M I can personally say that I much more enjoy shooting the Leicas and therefore use them more and take more and better photos. so for me, the price is worth it.
Aaaah for me the leica q drug is like a fresh air blow to my photography. When I feel stuck shootings weddings or portraits just for work, I took the Leica for a ride and have fun again.
I enjoy your videos. I like your humility. I also like how you maintain your personality in every video. This is my favorite so far because of how you really highlighted the features of not only this camera but of higher resolution systems. I get it now in a way that I didn’t before. I was going to buy an older system that has lower resolution but a higher build quality for my everyday camera. I’m going to buy a Q3 now. I can see how the higher resolution will improve both my overall photo and video options moving forward. I didn’t see the need for such high resolution before, but I get it now. Damn !! I just happened upon this video, althu I hv seen a lot of PK’s (excellent) videos b4, this one was on the Q3 which I’ve been fantasying about since it came out. And PM easily n brilliantly took us thru all its attributes n qualities, but that demo of the benefit of the 60mp in going a W Shot to a Portrait of the drummer was not just perfect, but a completely demo but a stunning image in its own right. Just Fantastic !! Thks Peter, (U the Man !!)
This helps me so much as i have to post a video of two sizeable bands I randomly got the chance to film and wasnt sure how to go about the music aspect! So helpful. Also super cool camera!

Just a note that Q2 batteries will work in the Q3 but you can't shoot 8K with them. You can also use Q3 batteries in the Q2. This is according to The Verge.

The new battery is backwards compatible with the Q2 and the older batteries work in the Q3 but you lose 8k filming

can confirm I have had 2 cameras damaged by lasers, it's no joke

My Leica M10 was destroyed by a laser on Tomorrowland, it's real

@@andreagonar yeah, since there’s no mirror the sensor is always being exposed, so if the laser hits it, it will burn out the pixels it touches

It has the exact same light sensor as a Sony A7R4. Without Sony Leica would not even be able to make cameras, a lot of companies wouldn't.
Just a note that Q2 batteries will work in the Q3 but you can't shoot 8K with them. You can also use Q3 batteries in the Q2. This is according to The Verge.
