There is always a lot of hype when a new product is released. I bought my Q3 three weeks ago knowing that the Q3 43 was about to hit the market. My decision was based on my needs for the wide 28, pure and simple.
I used the 28 while travelling and it is perfect for landscapes. I cannot ditch the 28 for that reason, I am planning to buy the 43 as well so that I can use the 28 when travelling and use 43 when taking portraits. I thought maybe the best solution would be for Leica to introduce interchangeable lenses, but realised they’d price those even higher.
While on the street 28 mm or 43 mm is a personal choice I guess. I have used your OG Q work 28 mm sumilux. Jewel of a camera and gem of a lens. But if were to shoot a lot of street portraits more than street scenes - I think 43 will be a comfortable choice. I like this video PV. Would have loved to see more pictures from the 43 mm Q
It boils down to pretty much all that you mentioned. 28 gives you a bit more freedom to different styles and compositions. 43 of course, a bit narrow and good for portraits and tight compositions. If you currently own a 28 and happy with it, just stick to it, you have all the freedom from 28 to 43 and beyond! Having said that, APO is something that you may want to consider 😊
Excellent video! I have 28mm Q3 but wgatbi noticed is when I shoot Raw it has yellow skin tone cast vs Q3 43mm is more of Nikon Fuji color. Can you do Raw comparison video skinyone check for 43mm and 28mm?
Im a wide shooter. Just am. The wider the better. I want as much information in my photos as possible. But others feel they need more reach and less information. And sometimes that is actually what I need for a situation. So I bought a Sony a6700 to go with my Q3(28mm) with some nice Sony primes for those situations where the 28mm just won't do it. All of this still fits in a little shoulder bag.
I am with the 28, mainly because the images have a nicer, more interesting perspective imho, 43 seems flat for me, just not so much dynamic in the scene, more boring looking. Ofc 28 is also much more versatile because of the crop-in possibility, thats what the 60 mp-sensor ist made for.
@@tusharrocksss APO is fantastic but the 28 even though a non APO is also a brilliant lens. You’re not losing anything really by going for the 28mm if that’s the focal length you prefer.
Frankly, I don’t understood this hoopla about the Q3-43 v/s Q3-28. To sum it up, the 28mm is a great EDC camera whereas the 43mm clearly is not. As you both have mentioned, the 43mm is excellent for those who’ve always shot either with 35mm or 50mm. To quote the guys on Red Dot Forum, who are rather fond of saying this in other Leica contexts, the 43mm is an AND camera and not an OR camera. It depends ….. i.e. it does not replace the Q3-28, it adds to the Q lineup
Why isn’t the 43 a great EDC camera? That’s one helluva biased opinion. They can both be great EDC cameras, it really just depends on your preferences regarding focal length.
@@BeanEW distortion? You mean pincushion/barrel kind of distortion? I have not observed any, at least not worth worrying over. Yes, 43 is more natural due to the field of view. The whole question is about what use the camera will be put to.
Sure. The message here is not that you can get 50 field of view by cropping. My point is that for street, documentary, urbanscapes, events it’s better to have a wider angle of view and crop in. My earlier video on the Q3 talks about shooting portraits with 28mm

The most sensible comparison so far, with good points for keeping the 28 Q over the 43 Q, and vice versa.
@@orjos2 thank you

Thx! So conflicted not sure if I should get the 28 or the 43. Did you have success taking portraits or pictures with the 28?
@@CalmSitar-sw5wf yes. I have shot a lot of portraits with the 28 but one has to be purposeful and careful of how to shoot
Where are y’all finding the Q3 43 for sale? I can’t find any outlet that has one in stock.

I agree I have the Q2 & Q2M. keeping both. I don't need the 43mm

Sir how is apo lens performance in q3 43

Ok sir got it ….. it’s just confusion of apo lens vs sumilux
Truth is both lenses are top class it just depends if you like 28mm or 43mm , thats it really

I have both... 28mm has too much distortion... 43mm is much more natural.

@@shootprocessprint Agree, I have the 28, not noticed any distortion whatsoever. The 43 pictures look boring for my tastes. 28 much more dynamic
Cropping an image from 28mm is not a true 50mm. And the distortion is really obvious on faces. Not so much for structures.
