But when the fuel cars run and go past you feel it. And even through 25 db hearing protection they are ungodly loud. I used to want to see an f1 race but way to expensive and Austin is just to much travel. That and f1 is basically unwatchable anymore.

And bonus - Linda Vaughn - Miss Hurst Shifter was there too. She had plenty enough curves and legs to stand out from a long way off in the bleachers. This was like enjoying show=biz as much as it was a race.
Top Fuel then was 2500 HP and top speed of 250 MPH; easy numbers to remember. The shock that sent through my chest cavity way up the bleachers was a total surprise. Every rap of the throttle while staging was another sudden kick in the heart. Great memories.

I had the chance to stand between 2 top fuel cars launching in las Vegas once. Your entire body reverberates internaly from the shockwaves of the sound pulses during the launch. Everything Plato said is true. He is not overdoing it for tv drama. The look on his face and body reactions are very real. You will notice camera man flinch and Jason flinch Then he's just out of it as all of his senses are trying to find normal again. you feel all weird like your organs got slapped around for about a min after. Its is an amazing experience. If you go to a top fuel race sit in stands closest to the start and as close to the track as possible for a bit to get a feeling of Jasons experience. you will be far away compared to him but you still feel it about a third as much Then go as far down track as possible for the experience to see them speed by you. Experts estimate Top Fuel cars can reach over 150 decibels, a level that can cause physical damage to the eardrum. For comparison's sake, a typical rock-concert is about 104 to 120 decibels. space shuttle 215 at the launch pad.

I have been an avid fan of NHRA drag racing most of the 64 years of my life. If I were 30 years younger and I was given the opportunity to pilot (you don't drive them) these cars I would do so in a heartbeat. They are the fastest accelerating machines operated by a human being on earth. This is an old video and most T/F and F/C machines are pushing between 11,000 and 12,000 HP now. I am going to the NHRA 4 Wide Nationals @ the ZMax track in Charlotte, NC next year. Can't wait.

You can feel the noise in your body, and as they launch on a run the view becomes stroboscopic, the horrendous noise and vibration seems to literally shake your eyeballs. I know this was posted in 2016 but does Jason not know that Santa Pod in the U.K. exists?
The speed record for the 1/4 mile there is 621km/h at 3.85 seconds.
They also have two seater dragsters and the 8000hp Top Fuel cars as the European finals are held there.
Why did they fly to Dubai when they could have advertised a U.K. company?

I was right by the strip at Sonoma for their NHRA finals. I didn't wear ear protection for the first run (They ran the Top Fuels first) that was a mistake. And it feels like you're getting fucking tear gassed from the Nitromethane.

The shock wave from the exhaust as it goes past will shake every part of your body! Love Top Fuel!
BTW, new mph record now stands at 338. No idea what that figures to in kph.

Well the fact is , you cant blink or breathe during the run is testament how many G you pull on Acceleration leave alone the reverse when you pull the chute and its worse negative G. The extra fuel pump is enable after the burnout and the throttle blocks are removed

Gr8mate13 absolutely nothing is easy at 8G, the people who think you just point it in a straight line really are wide of the mark.
