Hi Adwoa! Looking beautiful as ever. I have the old formulation (from 1/24) and the new formulation (from 4/24). And I love them both! Not at first sniff, though.I generally don't care for oud, but something hit me with this fragrance. I kept returning to it. It is strangely addictive. I really like the new formulation, too. I generally love lemon vanilla fragrances like Lira, Devotion, Unknown Pleasures. And I was afraid that the new version might be redundant in my collection. Not at all. The lemon is not so very prominent; it is the creamy, thick sandlewood that is the star. Yummy. An oriental gourmand. It's just a shame that Khadlaj chose not to change the bottle, so there's a lot of confusion.

I agree. Khadlaj should have changed the bottle and renamed the new one since they have nothing in common. Love them both but I prefer the older one over the new ☺️☺️
I think if a brand changes the formulation of a fragrance to the point where it becomes a brand new fragrance altogether, they should also rename it. This will only lead to confusion and disappointment. I would love to get my hands on the new formulation, however, I don't want to risk getting the old one.
The reformulations with the same bottles was not the best way for the brand to go. Now a lot of people will rather not buy since one is not too sure what he/she is getting 😌
The new formulation is better if you like sweet lactonic gourmands like vanilla ice cream and the old formulation is for ninjas😂. I got my nose on the old formulation yesterday and I was like😮. It is not for everyone

I personally prefer the older one. It’s more me. I don’t know if it was also because that was what I got fist but there’s something so addictive and deep in it that gives the upper hand in my opinion and personally taste ☺️☺️

Thank you so much for this detailed comparison Adwoa! 💙 I took a gamble not minding which one I got but now I’m very glad I got the Jan 2024 version! It’s a unique vanilla in my collection. I’m now waiting for the April 2024 version to become available as I’m very excited to try it to wear separately and to layer them as well!

As someone who dislikes Sweet Tooth, I wouldn't compare Empire Victor (current version) to it. Empire Victor smells a lot more natural and smoothly blended.
I bought the old dd Dec23, when the seller told me it was the new batch. Its definitely not for everyone. Somehow the first thing which came to mind on the first sniff was...... drum roll...... cow dung! I'm trying to let iy macerate and hoping my mind changes soon

I ordered mine last night then about 3 mins later I watched another video saying that they have updated the formula lol! I hope I get the newer version as that's the one I want but if I get the older one I'm sure I'll enjoy it. If I do not then I'll gift it to my daughter. Thank you for this review because I recently got this and It’s the old batch, I was able to understand this whole scent, the dirty vanilla and banana smell. But the dry down is addicting, so milky and creamy, it makes me happy, Atleast it develops with time .

Thanks for the informative review. My theory behind the reasoning for the reformulation is maybe the vibe of the first didn’t match the bottle and name of the first iteration, and they perhaps decided to take it into a more innocent feminine direction. I hope they continue the original by putting it into another bottle.
I think it does match both. Both are creamy with the older formulation being even more creamy and feminine. Package wise, they both fit, at least to me☺️
The newer one should have been bottled differently or in pure white. Love them both though ❤️
Khadlaj house caused this, they should have made the new formulation in another bottle.

It’s the manufacturing dates you would have to look out for. Older formulation dated Before April 2024. Anything April 2024 will be the newer one but somehow, I think you will equally like the older one too☺️

Can you please tell me which batch is more strong, long lasting and has the strongest projection? The new or the old one? I ordered mine, the store informed me that I will receive a 01/2024 batch. I suppose the old formula 🤞🏻

The older one seem stronger but the new one also lingers and lasts
I have the old formulation and it burns my eyes whenever the fan blows it on me.😢
It also smells like a burning cashew nut…but surprisingly I find myself always sniffing my arm whenever I wear it throughout the day
I also perceive banana ish from it

I already checked Notino if they have it in Europe. Nope. I realy would like to get it. My actual animalic beast mode scent is Lui from Mazzolari. The dry out 12 hours on skin is vanilla, cedarwood and horseskin.
I live in Europe, too...I couldn't find it either, and I ended up ordering mine from the UK.

The Problem with Lui is, the first 4 hours you smell like the dirtiest toilet in town, after this the smell develops a bashing wild animalic boost. Difficult to describe, all eyes on you. And then the 12 hours dry out you just smell like an chilled lion playing with horses. Very difficult to implement in a setup, but a masterpiece. The active window is 48h on skin! On textile oh my god. So I summerized Empire Victor could be a beast mode solution.

Which version are most people liking the new or the old and how can you make sure you’re going to get the preferred version of the fragrance I’m really conflicted on this one but I’m also super curious but I would prefer to have the one that’s more vanilla heavy and less barnyard out sorry if you touched on this I have ADHD really bad and I rewound a lot of this twice trying to see which one I want
Don't get the older version then. The only way to check is the batch code, you may have to ask the supplier first before purchasing it so you can check it online. I think any bottle with the batch date before April this year will be the older version. Get one of the newer formulated bottles.

Could you please tell me I heard that yesterday's new formulation I want the new formulation but I'm afraid to buy when I see it at like an eBay because I don't know and I also heard that was going to change the bottle of it which would be a great help you will know the difference but yes I want to try the newer version but I'm afraid so I'm going to wait a few more months to see what happens

The only way to know which formulation it is is seeing the production date. I think the old ones have January 2024 and all new ones have April 2024. You might ask the seller before you proceed

That’s a tricky one because they are both the same packaging. It’s the production dates that differs with the older bottles dated before April 2024 and the newer ones April 2024
