I feel ya Tori! That's the main reason I refused to take any art classes, because it took my entire 21 years of life to find a place that supports my natural art style and doesn't try to shove a entirely new concept down my throat.
i just realised. I rarely drew along to any youtube how to draw videos at some point i just watched them and thats it. Now what happens is that after 2 years of just watching i most of the time know everything what hes talking about. :D But damn i should have been drawing along this whole time to at least have the practical part down. Starting doing that now :D
hang on maybe i just watched and not drew along because my drawing ability wasnt all that good and i wouldnt be able to catch up in the video. I dont knooww :D But great video sycra thank you.
Osjey I usually like to watch it through once, so I know what he's talking about, then try to draw it without the video (so I know what I get, and what I don't), and then draw along with it. Obviously, I pause a lot -- I'm pretty sure it's sped up anyway.
ahhhhhh thank you!! this is litterally one of the only things anatomy wise i really struggle with! even if the head is slightly turned up or down it ads a ton more dimension
"Hair lines can be different. You can have them straight you could have them curved..." Me:"They could also be NONEXISTENT!" *Looks back at my friends with an evil smirk*
This video definitely helped me out, but it also made me realize that I need to crack down on my perspective skills. Most of the time I was able to just BS it since I'd been doing anime heads for a while. But of course, that isn't going to help me improve my art at all. Time to go draw a lot of boxes XD
Thanks. I appreciate the technical info but also the freedom to let the eye/gut have their say as well. I can stay in my drawing space (right brain) and feel that I'm not doing anything 'wrong'.
This was definitely the best tutorial I've seen so far; you made it really simple but explained why it looked the way it did. I finally understand how and why should draw it this way. Thank you for finally making me understand it so I can draw it :)
I'm gonna draw someone and lookin up fr some tutorial as I have never drawn a person's face fr years and this vedio made me feel like I can draw again will tell u how it went after completing ❤ thank u❤❤❤❤😘
I am a beginner to art and this really helped . I didn't really need to draw the squares and whatever at the start but thanks because this really helped ,might consider art more :D
I was JUST thinking about this topic the other day! I've been struggling a lot in this field. (I had such a panic attack when I saw this upload in my submissions box. XD ) Thanks for sharing this! :D
This was very helpful Sycra very much appreciated, however the extreme looking up angle does get me sometimes but i think this will help when applied haha
I don't know how are you doing this ! wen i start to study something in short time after that you put video about that :D this time you made it agane :)
just recently I was working on a 2d project which required the guide line that is shown in this video. I struggled a lot , not knowing what to do. but I figured it out on my own , I wish I had bumped into this video b4, things would have been hassle free. Btw , I noticed one correction , the eybrows of the character should be closer to his eyes while looking down. "perspective".
Hi ! I like the tut, I already know to to draw a face up and down, but I've always struggle with drawing laughing mouths in those angles, Do you think that you could do a tutorial on this?
hey can u please do one with the eyes open because that is the only reason i watched this vid is too see with the eyes open looking down or up. thanks sycra!
Go to the resource section of his website: www.sycra.net/ scroll down a little, and under the Photoshop Brushes section is an area labelled "Sycra's Paper Texture," and you'll be able to click on it and download. I think he said in another video that he made the texture himself using images of paper. Hope that helps :)
Very helpful, thankyou. So if a neutral mouth curves upwards when the head is looking down, how would it curve if it were a "frowns" mouth. Eg. someone upset/crying with their head down?
I really needed this, I've been drawing my heads at a 3/4 turn every time
Ikr
This was a life saver! Kinda upset that none of my art classes covered something like this
I feel ya Tori! That's the main reason I refused to take any art classes, because it took my entire 21 years of life to find a place that supports my natural art style and doesn't try to shove a entirely new concept down my throat.
I really like these simple tutorials that are not too long and are very informational
He literally answered a question I was asking someone else a few days back. THANK YOU SYCRAAA!

I had pretty much the exact same thing as well at some point and I still kind of do. It's good that you're starting to draw along.
haha
I like this simplistic tutorial actually. It gives me something to work on right away and lets me dig into details later like more perspective stuff.
I've always had a problem with faces looking up. This tutorial was very helpful, actually :) always helping me improve, Sycra. You the best.
Thank you so much for the really simple explanation. The bit about the way the angles change was really helpful
I believe Aang can save the world

What's your setup to draw digitally like that like if you were sketching with a pencil on a "yellowish" piece of paper? It's lovely!
Go to the resource section of his website: www.sycra.net/
scroll down a little, and under the Photoshop Brushes section is an area labelled "Sycra's Paper Texture," and you'll be able to click on it and download. I think he said in another video that he made the texture himself using images of paper.
Hope that helps :)
RainiDays Wow, tons of resources there! Trying to sketch something with his brushes on this texture right now, thanks :)
loooooool holy shit I tried to do this today during math class LOL I need this

Sycra what programmes are you using for this? Also the sort of distorted background, where did you find that?
Would really appreciate a reply.
He uses photoshop and the background is a custom texture he made, it's available for free download on his website along with his custom brushes etc,
can you make a near and far action poses?
could you do a tutorial for drawing the face (especially the eyes) at a 3/4 view left and right?
Are you using a digital drawing tablet or just the mice??
I've always had hard time drawing fabric folds... I can't draw just rolled up sleeves without looking at my own clothes.
Cubebrush has a good tutorial to start on folds.
very good I learnt something I think it is cool
;-):-):-);-);-)
Who came here to draw superior looking people
Me. I trying to draw a person mad. Facing the fear of death
What kind of grafic tablet do you use? Plz i want to draw but dont know which to buy. 😞
Look at the description
You need the one with the boxes in math anyway...
