    Love this video! I have yet to knit my first sweater/ vest but I find I love all the vest patterns. Yours are all gorgeous.

      You're so kind! Thank you. I love vests during transition seasons and when I just don't feel like wearing a full sweater. No sleeves can be liberating!

    Thank you for your show about vests. Just making the weekend slip over V neck vest by Petite knit. I like what you said about putting less stitches on armholes as find the one I am knitting with thick wool is flaring at the shoulder ribbing. May need to redo. Also if doing Italian bind off - you really do have to pull very very tight to get a nice edge.
    I also make this vest out of a sweater I found at a thrift shop that I ripped apart.

      I love the Weekend Slip V neck! My Italian bind-off experience isn't pretty, so for now I'm sticking with my purl-over-purl bind-off. Good luck with the armholes.

      Thank you very much! The Soldotna Crop that I'm wearing has so many memories stitched into it, it is a very meaning knit for me.

    What goog timing! I just casted on the Terrazzo slipover by Petitknit. So far so good!

    I have a vest/Slipover on my radar for a long time. Seriously considering the Moby Slipover. But something simpler like the vest no. 1 may be good first effort.

    • @pairswellwithknitting
      @pairswellwithknitting  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Moby Slipover is beautiful! If you haven't knit a vest before, maybe a stockinette stitch vest could be a good start? On the other hand, you may just have to jump right into those cables and give it a shot. Good luck!

    Thanks for sharing your vests. The colours are fantastic. I’m not keen on knitting another sweater, but I may try a vest. I appreciate your suggestions. I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving weekend 🍁

      So far we have planned for Vienna and Salzburg then will head into Bavaria. We are excited too! Always enjoy hearing others positive experiences.

      @@wendystewart-fox35 In Vienna, I visited Wolle Wien, Laniato and Wollmeile, which was my favourite. I've travelled to Salzburg, however wasn't an obsessive knitter at the time, so didn't do a LYS crawl. I assumed the knitting game was going to be strong in Austria with the café culture, but found it just wasn't. You will have the best time knitting, eating sachertorte and sipping your way through this magical country. Enjoy!!!

    Loved this episode as I'm working on my first slipover--since I'm a baby knitter, I picked the Novice Slipover by PetiteKnit. I'm loving how it's working up but I've been strategically plotting my work to put off binding off as she recommends the Italian bind-off. I've watched several tutorials and they broke my brain so I've just been avoiding it. Perhaps I'll try your purl-over-purl bind-off--is it a 'traditional' bind off using purls rather than knits? Excited to have a nice looking alternative to Italian!

      I'm so excited for you! I hope you give the purl-over-purl bind-off a try. Wishing you happy knitting and an even happier time casting-off!

    But the big question is -- your Oxford shirt. Just the right weight and opacity. It's a lifelong search for me -- can you ID ?

      Ha! It's an older blouse from Ellen Tracy. She's a heavier shirt with a good stiff collar. I love oversized shirts, so often purchase a size or two bigger. Good luck!

    • @Citroen_2cv
      @Citroen_2cv ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pairswellwithknitting Yep, that collar. It has gravitas. Always need one assertive Oxford plus a lightweight one that wrinkles charmingly, like you've been overnight on a train from somewhere interesting. Same specs for trench coats. Thank you!

    Hi! Can you tell me what a purl over purl bind off is? I can't seem to find it anywhere online. Thank you!

    • @pairswellwithknitting
      @pairswellwithknitting  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Here's how I bind-off: I purl the first 2 stitches, now from the right needle I bring my first stitch over my second (to bind-off one stitch) and continue purling one stitch at a time over to my right needle and casting it off. Does that make sense?
