Yes, I have been craving to be authentic with people since I lost myself as a child. The hard part is that I don't trust people with my feelings underneath it all, and I still get hurt when I notice that people are assuming that I am unintelligent. The core of my childhood was being labeled as dumb, it's still hard even when I've known this for many years. I open up, get disappointed or feel threatened and close back and feel bitter. I know I can get through this, it will not be easy. It's a fulltime job for me, takes up most of my energy and I often feel like I am running into a wall. I feel like this video, and seeing more from Teal lately is going to help me a lot. Thank you 💞
Unrelated, but I'd love it if Teal would monetize her videos. I want her work to be supported and there is no reason why she shouldn't earn from TH-cam ads, as far as I'm concerned. Especially with how 2020 has impacted workshops. Please consider it, Teal. Much love and gratitude 🌱
I agree with this, and it’s something I’ve thought of multiple times as well. Teal, you have earned it through all the knowledge you share so selflessly. Your platform is huge because of what you’ve created. All of this is adding to the healing of the whole world 🤍
I can say that she most likely gets something from my watching, having TH-cam Premium. With the lack of ads for me, demonetized videos still get some revenue when I watch them. I don't know how this works if monetization was never asked for to begin with. Change is inevitable. Whether it is resisted, or intentionally chosen and acted upon, *it's still gonna happen*. Regardless of how the change feels, the aim and desire for a positive outcomes will always be present. Which is where we must trust our own ability to move towards that outcome we desire to experience.
About specific videos, what I'd personally like to hear Teal's takes on are the following: • eyesight issues, and going deeper into *possible* causes or things that impact it psychologically/spiritually • specific "recognized" mental illnesses, such as BPD maybe? ( 😅 ) I know she's not a big fan of dividing and taking these things one by one but I think it could help new people approach her work and to others like me to maybe hear some key points which would be beneficial in acquiring back freedom from various mental illnesses. Also, many people who are diagnosed do have stuff in common with those specific illnesses so it could be quite helpful. • last and not least, self honesty in general.
The thing is they tell us we are sick but we are not .... I am speaking about all these "mental health issues" if it is not some real malfunctioning in the brain (Which are not so many all consider...) All the rest is depression and not knowing about these kind of thrashings.
I don’t think I’ve come across other teachers that teach just as clearly and with such passion as you. I’m sure they exist but there’s something special about you, Teal, that I resonate deeply with. I’m just so thankful to have come across you. It’s like I manifested you at the perfect time 3 years ago. Ever since I’ve binged watched almost all your videos and have evolved so much with still a lot to go but I enjoy the journey. I know one day I’ll be able to go to a workshop and meet you until then sending you all my love from colombia!!
Change is constant. Life is all about it as nothing remains the same unless the universe stops dead in its tracks. Inner conflict is probably one of the things that has us resisting change. We tend to avoid risks that are beyond our control.
I cannot change others, I can only change what I don't like of my life. Hurtful, frack yeah! Necessary double frack yeah!! Did I learnt this the smooth way...nope. Took the first "mind" step...almost immediately good changes came towards me. There is no safety of outcome for anything. Dare to change! Teal you "hammered" those vital concepts, indirectly of course, in my head...and have grown slow but constantly! Thank you!!!
What you resist persists and growth doesn't happen in your comfort zone. Awareness is key in unlocking your greatest potential for growth and positive change. *Edit* Wow, thanks for the likes everyone. Blessings to you.🙏🏼😊
The comfort zone is just a blanket term we use to shun what we can easily overcome with a little effort. If we are in full awareness we will realise that the personality however sweet is the most comforting aspect of our existence. Are you prepared to drop it?
I chase change almost pathologically. But then again, I grew up amongst a lot of change constantly, so maybe me chasing change is in fact keeping things the way I am used to them 🤣 and the change I'm referring to is usually only a certain type of change which I have a positive association to i.e. a lot of moving countries and jobs. At 27 years old I've lived on 26 different living arrangements in 5 countries and had 21 jobs! Haha
@@jasmith8438 maybe but it wouldn't be the right time for me or be in alignment, so maybe the change I need is to not have to chase certain types of change haha idk I guess she isn't necessarily telling us to change just to be aware of the resistance
Many people get comfortable with who they are and may fear not only to change, but just the fact they may have to admit to themselves they need to change. So they sit in their comfort zone. Thanks for sharing this!
Joe Dispenza and Abraham Hicks mentions this all the time. Resistance to change is why we constantly create the same reality. If you really want to move on and create change then stop pondering and stiring up past actions, past emotions, the past in general, that would be a good start. Unfortunately many people's pain body is too scary and hard to get rid of.
Great points made in this video. This is why self-awareness is so important. When we align with what is authentically us, we sidestep a great deal of painful, uncomfortable and even self-destructive situations.
I've been on self healing journey for 10 years now. I have experienced childhood neglect and emotional abuse with domestic violence. From age 1 to 13 I used to disassociate most of my time. Prolonged pychological trauma impacts a brain structure and there's evidence for that. I have tried almost all healing modalities including different types of psychotherapy - medications, holistic ways, spirituality... At the end there's no results to my structured psyche. I have changed some of my false beliefs and mental blockages but that's it. I still experiencing dissociation on daily basis unexplainable mood swings and alterations of psychy not a clear sense of my needings and wantings, paranoid ideations and lack of consistency in my sens of self. In conclusion I want to change and be happy enjoy this life's journey but I don't know how. My learning capabilities are handicapped like I'm living in reality where laws of the universe are not applicable for myself. This lifes joy is ment for majority but not for everybody in this life time and that's not my belief that's a fact. Maybe one day someone will figure out this freaking brain functions to treat this unexplainable conditions and I give all my hopes to that🙏💙
I knew this "changes occurs when people are in crisis" but it makes me feel a lot better to know from this amazing woman, what I do is try to define what i have to change or want to but still can and try to picture A CRISIS from that and try as hard as possible as take it to the extreme and if possible feel what would be and then is a lot easier to accept tha i have to change
Thank you for this. Current events have made me realize I have a ton of resistance to enmeshment, and participating in collective flow towards unity feels totally opposed to a deep need I've identified for sovereignty and autonomy. I'm still figuring out how to reconcile this.
I’m embracing the change, because I perceive myself as the architect of that change. I feel empowered and in control to a degree. I don’t know what WILL happen, but I’m striving to actualize and realize what MIGHT happen by pursuing it in earnest. So far it’s going really well!
When it comes to change, for me, I would rather face NEW adventures, NEW endeavors, NEW problems head on, than revisiting the SAME problems over and over again. Also, keep the things you know that work for you, but dump or face, embrace and come to terms with the things you're use to that are detrimental to you and your growth. If I'm with someone or someones, I would rather have us learn a new thing TOGETHER, especially if it's foreign to all those involved. It evens the playing of who is better equipped for this new thing we're facing. This is how I approach my loving relationships. One of the main killers of relationships is when one in the relationship wants more, to do more, to BE more and the other wants things to remain the same as day one. It's the same with co-owners of small businesses, property, possessions; multiple visions of what's expected from a shared thing.
Maybe the problem is expecting another person to change simply because we want them to or we think they should. Maybe instead we should be loving them and accepting them exactly for who they are.
Realising this makes making the change much easier. I wonder whether we can see the potential changes that there are available to us to make our life better, but we just don't see it because we resist 'seeing'.
I have recently came across this pattern dynamic where I saw & felt as if others didn’t have my best interest at heart another thing that I need to keep nourishing is expressing my true feelings not holding it in creating bad karma for me I DONT NEED THAT I also like how teal suggests to work through the resistance & begin open to or with it I APPRECIATE ALL YOUR SUGGESTIONS TEAL 💯✔️
Trust yourself and don’t worry about others changing or not. Sometimes it’s just subjective. If you are resisting change sometimes it’s for a good reason
This explains the exasperating, baffling resistance to the movement to stop/slow climate change. Millions of people feel like 1) There's nothing in it for me to change 2) If I join the movement I am suddenly surrounded by people more competent than me, while I know next to nothing about green energy etc 3) It interrupts all my routines 4) With all the confusing data, it seems like I could exhaust myself trying to make responsible choices for the environment, and not make any difference at all 5) I might exhaust myself trying to change and absolutely nobody notices, and I don't get any reward whatsoever for my sacrifice 6) I might be ostracized for behaving in gooney tree-hugging behavior 7) Historically, I just don't trust the democrats, I am suspicious this is just a ploy to get me to vote for them and donate money 8) I don't want this change forced on me, I want to decide for myself to do the right thing for the environment 9) fear projected into the unknown about changing sources of food and energy, I might go broke because of the higher costs, I might risk my health by changing my diet. This video would be so helpful to the folks advocating for environmental responsibility, explaining why they are hitting such a brick wall in America. The more resistance they meet, the more they double down on the apocalypse angle, which just increases the resistance.
holding life with a open hand is my calling, to nurture and be loving, thats just how I am. the stress is a bit too intense and the resistance creates panic. its all ok, here I am allowed to heal and be myself here + I am welcomed. Evetyone reading this, you are loved, you are welcomed, vote for yourself. I didnt know how lied to I was but I can say that and talk about it. I was lied to about our own choices, this world is not our fault, we are free to have our own lives. Its sad to express all this at 2020. Please re appear with Ralph, please. Linda
I’m LIVING for the ultra teal paint on the walls. I don’t have your skin tone or eye color. So I'd look hobgoblin 'esque in there. It totally reminds me of the times when the housemates are talking to the camera on MTV's "The Real World." Except you’re actually contributing something of substance to the world. Not just taking substances on "The Real World." HA!
I had this deep desire to cut myself off from everyone who financially supports me and just go do what I wnana do so I got a hotel room for a week expecting to just give tarot readings to keep paying for my life and I found I felt really lonely and i found I wasn’t ready to work for myself. That experience was enough for parts to get on board with going into sober living and getting a job working for someone else. Lol. I guess I’m someone that benefits greatly from going after a desire, feeling how it feels once achieved, then changing after that based on preferences changing. Lol idk but ya that happened
I asked myself "Why can't I change." and I wrote... Because I am proud of accomplishments and I feel like if I put them down that I will lose my self confidence.
I hope mentally, physically and emotionally healthy and managing the current circumstances well, Teal. Take care of yourself and your family. Much love to you. :)
Dear Teal, thank you for all your videos, teachings and good energy you're sending to all of us. Watching your videos almost everyday, because trying to know better myself and become best version of myself. I tried so many videos and other stuff, but your teaching is helping me most! Bless you, sweetheart 🙏
Thanks, great explanation. With me it's having a new partner and loosing independency. And 2nd thing is my beautiful house which has a big terrain, a pool, a wonderful view, freedom, but can't leave it easily cause of that big beautiful maintained terrain and the cats and my friends are sitting just too far away, my neighbours are getting too old. And 3rd I'm getting older and get aches and pains here and there and all that hard work is too much for me. And I'm not rich, so can't afford hiring people in. Writing this down makes it already clear, I have to find something else. And better don't wait till life forces me ...
Thank you for putting the time in to do the videos you create I find them informative and positive and great to listen too they really do get me thinking about myself and surrounding in a great way
Excellent! The things you speak of in your videos aligns with what I have actually experienced in my life, thus validating the information you present.
Also, people dodge and dread change because they fear they will lose a sense of identity that was built up with what is now, and the work it took to establish that identity was hard enough, so the thought of assuming they'll have to learn something fresh ALL over again is too intimidating. Like Teal says in the video, it's a projection of what's mostly feared into the unknown. I struggle with this myself. For me, it's failure of overcoming the obstacles in career and business endeavors, but this current journey has leveled up my confidence, intuition and my vibration. Many tell me, "Trust God and walk out on faith." 😑😤😐 Be mindful, blind faith can be destructive if you don't consider the warning and alert signs of preparation that appears early on the road to change. Signs like coming to terms with the internal resistance before making that change 😉✌
Love your videos Teal! (I am an energy healer / reiki practitioner who also has MS and Fibromyalgia). VERY happy to see other great light-bringers here!
Wow, the first example you just said about a committed partner and self-sabotaging it from manifesting is exactly what I'm going through right now. I want to change this. I don't want cheaters in my life. But the mere thought of being with the same person forever activates resistance. I can feel that. Am I a hypocrite who expects loyalty from a partner but is not willing to be loyal to them? 😵
Friendship is in a very conditional state with mainstream people. If you don't agree with your mainstream friend, then they will feel that you are a traitor to the friendship. In order for mainstream people to change, then all their friends need to change at the same time and in the same way. I believe most people are addicted to their conditional friendships because those friendships are the only ones they can get.
people can be changed by sample newer by forsing , even best intention reflects negative reaction, be yourself and allow other people to be what they are
Question submission: You’ve mentioned we can facilitate healing through another process you presented as Future Self Work-where you bring the optimal version of yourself into the now. You’ve also mentioned how going for the positive feeling could be a cop out to feeling emotional pain How do I mesh these two things together because they seem quite opposite. Thanks!
Don't want to change There is resistance to change Deal with resistance before anything else #1 Sense of safety and security and stability is associated to what we're familiar with. Any type of change destabilizes our sense of security, safety, and sense of control. - Routine (opposite of change) is familiar and makes us feel secure. When routine is disturbed, we lose sense of security. Perceiving to be unsafe or vulnerable activates primal insticts survival, which tell us this this change must be avoided at all costs. #2 Change tends to make us feel a decrease in self-esteem and confidence - We have become accustomed to how things are and developed skills around the way things are. This goes hand to hand with sense of security and sense of control. We get empowerment out of how much control we have over the situation at hand. - So when something change we start to feel insecure, incompetent, the skills we built up are now thrown out the window and are obsolete. - If we feel like anybody else may be more competent or useful due to the change, all of the sudden has more power than we do. Suddenly feel less than them. - This is something people want to avoid at all costs #3 We don't understand or misunderstand the need for the change. - Especially true if we weren't included in the decision to make that change, or if we perceive that change is not actually in our best interest - If we don't understand why a change is happening or why it's needed, we will fight hard for what we already have - May feel like it's a bad change. When we think a change is bad instead of a good change, we will resist that unlike any other change that's put before us. - Most drastic changes that happen in people's lives is a result of crisis. The reason for this is people tend to be so resistant to change that it requires a crisis for them to actually change things. - In other words, people won't choose change but let the universe force it upon them. First thing we do is refuse the change is being forced on us and try to prevent it. All the ways we try to gain control over the situation of the changes that are occuring is an attempt to get things to revert back to "normal." - It takes us a very long time to accept the fact that it's not going back to normal and that the change is happening regardless of whether we're on board or not. #4 Fear of what we project into the unknown and insecurity about the new - Projecting what you already fear into the unknown - Possiblity of something new, brain freaks out and thinks of every single potential issue that could be happening. When that process happens it starts to discourage us from making the change. - Rooted in what we do know - "Better known pain than unknown pleasure." "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't." - What is means is that we tend to stay in a situation and not make a change even when we know that not changing is painful. Most of us would rather do this than take a risk by making the change that things could be better. - We feel confidence in our ability to handle the pain we already are experiencing, the pain we already know. That's why people only make a change when they're in literally so much pain where it doesn't matter whether they're jumping off a cliff and taking that risk - We choose something we can handle. If we make a change and we don't actually have confidence in our capacity to handle it, it gets worse - We go back to what is familiar, even if the situation itself is more dangerous than the alternative
#5 We have an emotional connection to something that change is threatening it might be lost. - If we believe that we're gonna encounter any kind of loss in conjunction with the change, we're gonna dig our heels in and refuse to change - Could be loss of person, place, a thing, idea, feeling, experience. #6 Low levels of trust and self trust. - Obviously gonna be in high gear any time a change is initiated by someone other than ourself. - Now that doesn't mean that distrust is just about other people, it has to do with yourself as well. But to be completely honest with you, we live in a world where people haven't learned to take other people as a part of themselves yet and therefore they haven't learned to take other people's best interests as part of their best interests. This is the foundation of trust. - To the degree that a person has grown up to expect this experience of other people not taking their best interests as part of themselves, they will distrust and resist any change that is being suggested by somebody else. Or any change that's initiated by someone else. - Also, growing up in a world where you can't really trust other people because they're not capitalizing on your best interests creates splits or fragments in our consciousness. (The Fragmentation Process) - What's really interesting is that these splits in our own consciousness begin to mirror that external behavior of not taking each other's best interests into account. So what's actually happening in a lot of people's internal systems is zero sum games being played between parts. One part is acting despite another part's best interest and that does not create an atmosphere internally of self trust, it creates self distrust. (Bull Dozing in Relationships) - So what you'll see in this person's life is that anytime a change is gonna be made, one part of their consciousness is like: "Yeah!!! It doesn't matter what the othe parts think." And the other part is like: "No, no no, you're gonna destroy my life, no!" - That presents internal resistance. Whenever you make a change, there are other parts without you that are NOT on board with taking that change. They don't trust that it's gonna be in their best interests at all. #7 We don't clearly see the reward or benefit of the change. - Because if we did, we would've made the change already. - If we don't see the reward or benefit of a change, we don't feel like we chose the change. Feel like it's forced on us, makes us feel totally out of control. - This also makes recognizing the benefit or reward of the change almost impossible to see. Instead it feels like the change itself is against us. - No one is gonna get on board with any change that they feel is gonna leave them worse off. (And in that same vein, whist is the most important part to realize about this particular point is) if we look at making a change and the rewards or benefits don't justify the effort, or the discomfort involved in making that change, we're not gonna make that change. #7 Live life in cause and effect. Live a game of dominos. - One change can lead to many other changes. It can bring about a whole new set of problems along with possibilities. - Most of us intuitively sense that our lives are a game of dominos. We have some of these dominos that we're okay with falling, others we're not okay with having fall. - Feels pretty dis-empowering to make a change that has an unwanted effect - We're especially afraid of making a change if we can feel the potential of a change to affect many areas of our life, but don't have a clear vision of exactly how or in what ways. -------------------------------- Resistance doesn't come from a bad place. It comes from a good place, a place that wants the best for you but is conflicting with other parts that have differing ideas for what's best for you.
This is subject is definitely something i need to understand, so excited to watch this tonight when I get the chance :) thanks for sharing this kinda stuff Teal Swan ^^
People don’t understand, change is inevitable. it is the nature of consciousness, but change only happens to the person and it’s counterpart (the world) There is no change at source. the personality- the false is only a projection which you take to be real. What you are in reality cannot be subject to change. If it were you would not notice the difference . All change happens in your consciousness . This consciousness you had as a child is the same consciousness you have now. Only as a child it was innocent. Now, as an adult there is a personality which is not compatible with your being.
Happy Earth day, this video was first made available nine months ago and today it is the time required to give birth to a new conscious course of resistance free actions.
My experience that people won't change until they suffer enough being the way they are 😬
Totally agree 👍
I know that people change when they have heartbreak 🙃 sad but true :/

This really explains people don't change no matter how painful the situations they are in. Thank you Teal. 🙏
Now I'm much more grateful for the "crisis" that caused that change I needed.
indeed!
Change is constant. Life is all about it as nothing remains the same unless the universe stops dead in its tracks. Inner conflict is probably one of the things that has us resisting change. We tend to avoid risks that are beyond our control.
I can't get enough of your videos, Teal. I learn so much about human nature and myself. Ty ❤️
Be careful.
@@ninanewman5926 be careful of what... words?
Blessings to you.🙏🏼😊
Well said Mandy 💚
@@NewEarthlings Thank you 💗
The comfort zone is just a blanket term we use to shun what we can easily overcome with a little effort. If we are in full awareness we will realise that the personality however sweet is the most comforting aspect of our existence. Are you prepared to drop it?
The way you open and discuss the topics is amazing. Thanks 🙌🏻
Yeah! Doesn't matter what the other parts think!✊
Haha
In your case then change would mean putting down roots...(?) :)
@@jasmith8438 maybe but it wouldn't be the right time for me or be in alignment, so maybe the change I need is to not have to chase certain types of change haha idk I guess she isn't necessarily telling us to change just to be aware of the resistance
Wow! What a life! I like this style of life until I'm settling down. Nice👏
Thank you Teal. God bless you! 😇😊💖
Love how ur video titles make me think ur gonna go a particular way with a topic but then u flip it on its head. Thank u for ur perspective
This is just what I need right now, I'm having some resistance to change. Thank you so much Teal.
Wow, you have really helped me understand why I have been resisting change. I feel a hell of a lot braver now. Thanks for your empowering insight 💗
I really love this video. It takes an open mind to actually watch this and accept this truth but I’m so glad I cleared my mind to watch this.
Great points made in this video. This is why self-awareness is so important. When we align with what is authentically us, we sidestep a great deal of painful, uncomfortable and even self-destructive situations.
I want to tell that you really look amazing teal swan! Breath taking literally
Agree!
Thank you so much Teal. You’ve helped me soo much in my spiritual journey.
❤️🙏
Thank you Teal, love your work.
I agree and may I add that change is needed for progress!
I wish you knew just how much you've helped me through some of the hardest things I ever dealt with in life..
Thank you for this. Current events have made me realize I have a ton of resistance to enmeshment, and participating in collective flow towards unity feels totally opposed to a deep need I've identified for sovereignty and autonomy. I'm still figuring out how to reconcile this.
Beautifully said! I see your comment is from a year ago. Would love to hear what resolve you’ve come to since then regarding this!
I’m embracing the change, because I perceive myself as the architect of that change. I feel empowered and in control to a degree.
I don’t know what WILL happen, but I’m striving to actualize and realize what MIGHT happen by pursuing it in earnest. So far it’s going really well!
Absolutely divine timing when I watched this video! Thank you!
I don’t know why this video just popped up that it didn’t show up earlier in the week very strange you’re amazing I love you
teal swan , is the best to tell it. 💯
If you are resisting change sometimes it’s for a good reason
incredibly Accurate why we resist change.
The way you yell "NOOO!!!" is so funny I can't 🤣
It totally reminds me of the times when the housemates are talking to the camera on MTV's "The Real World."
Except you’re actually contributing something of substance to the world.
Not just taking substances on "The Real World." HA!
Thank you Teal ♥️
Well this was very humbling to hear, but necessary!
Wonderful video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! You are a blessing on this world! :)
Hi Teal. I love your videos. I've watched so many already. Thank you.
Love you Teal 🙏🏾 💜 thank you for your philosophy
WOW PERFECT TIMING EVERY TIME!! Everytime you release a video , it resonates soooo hard with the current energy I'm dealing with. Love you!
Teal you been big help in my life. You make me see things clearly. Thanks for your time, knowledge and wisdom. All the best to you gorgeous 💯❤️
The part about trust is so damn insightful!!! Thank you Teal Swan
wow i know you in some of the unexpected lots of love you are brilliant thank you for being a truth teller
I'm actually sharing 1-2 of your videos per day on Facebook. You're really awesome.
Exactly what I need to hear right now. Thank you Teal for the reminder and confirmation
Thank you for putting the time in to do the videos you create I find them informative and positive and great to listen too they really do get me thinking about myself and surrounding in a great way
Thank you teal 🌼
Great video, I also noticed your face, makeup and skin look great and I love the bright green tank. You’re so beautiful!
it was for me all along... thank you!!
Excellent! The things you speak of in your videos aligns with what I have actually experienced in my life, thus validating the information you present.
This is why people don't like being wrong about things.
Nicely said, on point and clear....continue the good work
Wow, the first example you just said about a committed partner and self-sabotaging it from manifesting is exactly what I'm going through right now. I want to change this. I don't want cheaters in my life. But the mere thought of being with the same person forever activates resistance. I can feel that. Am I a hypocrite who expects loyalty from a partner but is not willing to be loyal to them? 😵
You are the grestest, greetings from Ecuador 🇪🇨
This is exactly what I've had a discussion on with my daughter on weight loss. I said the same thing almost verbatim.
THANK YOU! Love you! ❤️
Teal you are a master downloader of the godliness. You are truth
Friendship is in a very conditional state with mainstream people. If you don't agree with your mainstream friend, then they will feel that you are a traitor to the friendship. In order for mainstream people to change, then all their friends need to change at the same time and in the same way. I believe most people are addicted to their conditional friendships because those friendships are the only ones they can get.
people can be changed by sample newer by forsing , even best intention reflects negative reaction, be yourself and allow other people to be what they are
Wow wow!! Brilliant education!!
That's one of my favorite colors, looking great as usual. Thank you for everything ❤️ you.
Question submission:
You’ve mentioned we can facilitate healing through another process you presented as Future Self Work-where you bring the optimal version of yourself into the now.
You’ve also mentioned how going for the positive feeling could be a cop out to feeling emotional pain
How do I mesh these two things together because they seem quite opposite.
Thanks!
Future Self Work plus Shadow Work combined
You are already in the now. Disregard your mind and you will remain there.
You are Divine. Thank you for you. A Muse for LOVE. Spartakus Famore
Don't want to change
There is resistance to change
Deal with resistance before anything else
#1 Sense of safety and security and stability is associated to what we're familiar with.
#2 Change tends to make us feel a decrease in self-esteem and confidence
- We have become accustomed to how things are and developed skills around the way things are.
- This is something people want to avoid at all costs
#3 We don't understand or misunderstand the need for the change.
- Especially true if we weren't included in the decision to make that change, or if we perceive that change is not actually in our best interest
- If we don't understand why a change is happening or why it's needed, we will fight hard for what we already have
- May feel like it's a bad change.
All the ways we try to gain control over the situation of the changes that are occuring is an attempt to get things to revert back to "normal."
- It takes us a very long time to accept the fact that it's not going back to normal and that the change is happening regardless of whether we're on board or not.
#4 Fear of what we project into the unknown and insecurity about the new
- Projecting what you already fear into the unknown
- Possiblity of something new, brain freaks out and thinks of every single potential issue that could be happening. When that process happens it starts to discourage us from making the change.
- Rooted in what we do know
- "Better known pain than unknown pleasure." "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't."
- What is means is that we tend to stay in a situation and not make a change even when we know that not changing is painful. Most of us would rather do this than take a risk by making the change that things could be better.
- We feel confidence in our ability to handle the pain we already are experiencing, the pain we already know. That's why people only make a change when they're in literally so much pain where it doesn't matter whether they're jumping off a cliff and taking that risk
- We choose something we can handle. If we make a change and we don't actually have confidence in our capacity to handle it, it gets worse
- We go back to what is familiar, even if the situation itself is more dangerous than the alternative
#5 We have an emotional connection to something that change is threatening it might be lost.
- If we believe that we're gonna encounter any kind of loss in conjunction with the change, we're gonna dig our heels in and refuse to change
- Could be loss of person, place, a thing, idea, feeling, experience.
(The Fragmentation Process)
- What's really interesting is that these splits in our own consciousness begin to mirror that external behavior of not taking each other's best interests into account. So what's actually happening in a lot of people's internal systems is zero sum games being played between parts. One part is acting despite another part's best interest and that does not create an atmosphere internally of self trust, it creates self distrust. (Bull Dozing in Relationships)
- So what you'll see in this person's life is that anytime a change is gonna be made, one part of their consciousness is like: "Yeah!!! It doesn't matter what the othe parts think." And the other part is like: "No, no no, you're gonna destroy my life, no!"
- That presents internal resistance.
- Feels pretty dis-empowering to make a change that has an unwanted effect
- We're especially afraid of making a change if we can feel the potential of a change to affect many areas of our life, but don't have a clear vision of exactly how or in what ways.
--------------------------------
Resistance doesn't come from a bad place. It comes from a good place, a place that wants the best for you but is conflicting with other parts that have differing ideas for what's best for you.
This is subject is definitely something i need to understand, so excited to watch this tonight when I get the chance :) thanks for sharing this kinda stuff Teal Swan ^^
Simply the best.
Now, as an adult there is a personality which is not compatible with your being.
work with the resistance, you have to do it with an open mind that is not fixated on the idea that it has to happen
Happy Earth day, this video was first made available nine months ago and today it is the time required to give birth to a new conscious course of resistance free actions.
*Thank you so much! Love/Light.* ♥♥♥
Thank you Teal, your episodes are always very helpful 💗
You’re amazing, Teal. Thank you
