    I own a ZEEKR top edition 4WD, which really stands out from the competition for its air suspension tuned by Lotus. The ride quality is so comfortable (in comfort mode) compared to all other coil suspension EVs I have test driven (think T...). There is also an off-road mode for max ground clearance. Very few videos discuss the air suspension in depth, which was a make-or-break feature for me. It drives as an Audi e-tron at half the cost. Besides the suspension, the ZEEKR is loaded with luxury features.
    My car is still running OS 2.01. Believe it or not, the software keeps losing its settings every few days. So, the touchscreen switches from English text to Chinese randomly, the HUD is deactivated etc. I was told that will be fixed in an OS upgrade.

    • @ChinaDriven
      @ChinaDriven  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I’m aware of the off-road mode for the air suspension. But as I said I haven’t driven it so I can’t really say how good it is. But I do think the base models spring set up is well dampened and if you’re getting the base the air suspension is a costly option at around $4k. Personally I’d be happy enough with the spring set up because it’s good!
      If you’re going for the base model which now has the front seat upgrade as standard now I think it’s a cracking deal. That was my point. I personally drive a NIO ET7 so I can see the air suspension is probably advantageous to some. It’s just a chunk of cash to spend as an option if your consider the base model.
      I didn’t actually turn the system to English, so I didn’t experience that problem. Does your car have the upgraded 8155 CPU?

    • @peter572
      @peter572 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChinaDriven Not yet. The new CPU comes with OS 3.0 or later. The free upgrade is quite a generous move from ZEEKR. I would have bought a NIO ES8, but I cannot read Chinese and NIO has been reluctant to support a multi-lingual touchscreen.

    • @ChinaDriven
      @ChinaDriven  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok, all I can say is I’ve heard of problems with the original cpu causing problems. The car in the video had the 8155 CPU and performed fine. However, obviously I don’t own the car and had it only a week, so don’t take it as gospel that it fixed all issues!

    • @peter572
      @peter572 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChinaDriven Thanks for the info. All I can do is wait for the upgrade. Great car otherwise and lots of free accessories from ZEEKR after the purchase. I paid about 360K RMB. • @ChinaDriven
      @ChinaDriven  ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually no that’s not quite correct :P
      The point of the video was that at the base price of 299,000 RMB you have a unique choice:
      - Base AWD Performance with 0-100kph 3.8s with 68kWh (all the performance and less range)
      OR
      - Base RWD Long Range with 100kWh & 400+ miles (CTLC) & obviously less performance
      If they don’t tickle your fancy you can opt for a higher trim with 100kWh with longer range 380-405 miles (CTLC) and the 3.8s acceleration time.
      It really is an interesting price structure compared to most manufactures which offer a pricing structure of Standard range < Long Range < Performance

    Hey China; the base model was quoted at about 300miles or perhaps 450 km; but at highway speeds you are talking more like 220 miles real driving range; less if you drive in freezing weather? This is not that long a range in real driving situations.

    • @ChinaDriven
      @ChinaDriven  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the base model AWD does have a range of around 300miles. I was confused by your comment because the base AWD does not have 100kWh battery only 68kWh battery.
      The 100kWh packs obviously have a longer range. There is a base “long range” model with single rear motor that provides the longest range. The AWD base is obviously hampered in the range department in order to get the performance at that base price. It’s a trade-off. I just like the fact they offer such a choice.

      Seems Europe is the first stop for most of these Chinese EV companies…I’d guess geopolitical reasons are making the US less attractive right now. But I’m sure sooner or later they will all come. Can’t ignore US huge car market.

    • @WisdomAndCats
      @WisdomAndCats ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s a 27.5% discriminatory tariff against China made cars, that’s why very few of the Chinese EVs are making sale efforts in the US. In fact, Tesla would have brought some of the Shanghai made higher quality 3 and Ys into the US to help the backlogs if not for the tariffs.

    • @ChinaDriven
      @ChinaDriven  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s new but not sure it’s really anymore discriminatory than China’s car import taxes. 27% almost seems reasonable compared to the total cost increase of imported cars in China!
      For foreign automakers in China, their brands are well-known enough in the Chinese domestic market to make producing cars locally is viable business.
      Chinese brands will eventually look to localise production around the world.

    • @WisdomAndCats
      @WisdomAndCats ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChinaDriven US only charge 2.5% against other car imports, 27.5% only against Chinese imports so it is discriminatory. China charges tariffs against all car imports not just against US, as a developing nation, and not high compared to other developing countries.

    • @ChinaDriven
      @ChinaDriven  ปีที่แล้ว

      you’re right. every country should make high import taxes on all foreign products. I agree in one sense it seems punitive against China. But Europe doesn’t have those import taxes against USA, hence no high import on European to USA imports. USA doesn’t care if you charge them and Europe the same high fee. they only care you charge them a high import fee. so maybe the correct thing to make it all equal and fair is for Europe to also impose high import taxes on Chinese vehicles…
      now I’m not advocating such a thing really. I think that lower import costs will ofc help great Chinese EVs reach a wider global market. But my point is saying this country do this or that but it’s ok for china to do it because it penalised everyone equally isn’t a fair answer. the problem is high import costs made under the guise of “protecting domestic interests”. stifles true competitiveness in both markets

    It has a 100 kWh battery which you'd think would mean great range; but it doesn't. 400+ km translates into 220 or so miles in good weather at 30 mph. That means at highway speeds and freezing or 100f+ you will get more like 120 - 160 miles? Not that bad? Load it - and it w passengers and cargo and goes down to 70-90 miles. That is pretty pathetic for such an expensive heavy vehicle. It isn't unique in EVs most do poorly loaded; or in freezing temps but this isn't a cheap price.

    • @ChinaDriven
