Geely is the new VW group with Zeekr, Polestar, Volvo, Smart, Lotus. I have the #1 Brabus off the same platform.
It’s utterly amazing. A car that can do Melbourne to Adelaide on a charge! I think sedan design isn’t the best for demand but with skateboard concept taller vehicles can be produced, air suspension too. No wonder Ford GM VW are crying.
I like everything about the 007. This looks like it will be one of the few truly 'future proof' EVs. The 007 will surely be emulated, presuming other automakers can catch up with the amazing battery tech that Geely has created.
While BYD is doing great I think that Geely/Volvo and GAC now stand with Tesla as the automakers that are most powerfully influencing the shape and direction of EV development.
It would be great to see Geely and GAC establish a business presence here in Australia. If either company was to broadly deploy their charging posts here, we would be fortunate indeed.
I like the design inside and out, I think the Zeeker designers are much better than BYD and others.
the pace of innovation in China is crazy fast, they getting better at everything, competition will be very hard. avtr12, luxeed s7, zeekr007, launch in the same time, and they all very good

World's best battery Zeekr 007 here, second best also China, BYD blade also bought by Tesla, crazy software by Huawei in Avatr, Chery Luxceed, Aito, loved by western media, Xpeng XNGP called better than Tesla by US based cleantecnica(check yourself) HiphiZ loved by Matt Watson Car wow n he called it's driving dynamics better than Tesla S, BYD Seal called benchmark by wheelsboy, Hiphi A and BYD U9 both 2.0 seconds to 60

The headlight bar is really cool and truly innovative, the first in the auto business. The overall package at $35k in China - on par with base Model 3, is very competitive. Could really shake Tesla, this car.

This is the beginning, because this technology is going to race through into other EV manufacturers. Love these cars, yellow included. Swedish design really has an impact for Germanic me. 007 is a great branding, as is almost the whole group, including golden battery. 800kw chargers should already be everyone's standard.
YELLOW is my favourite color for a car!! Also, YELLOW has been documented in the past as least likely to get in an accident○
I agree. Saw the Aussie colours for the new BYD Seal and they are bland - No yellows, reds, or anything bright.

I would like this Zeekr/Geely for the simple reason that I bat for the underdog. But still the other obvious reason is there’s not enough of charging station in Australia at all.

Sam you are so productive. Hope these cars are accessible to everyone. Also like Polestar a lot, another great line from Volve/Geely. Brand synergy and economics of scale start to kick in.
The game just started. Be amazed about all of the Chinese cars that will reach us for 1/3rd of the price of ICE cars... especially with the later generations of Sodium-Ion batteries.
Robotaxis will be another disruption. upon the BEV disruption.
ICE, HEV, PHEV and Hydrogen will die off completely.

Geely is an interesting one, since it is a private company (owned by a Chinese billionaire) so it can slip past the china import restrictions, by using Polestar and Volvo. I think though because it doesn't get the full EV subsidies it seems they are taking their time getting to the USA. Maybe they will start importing batteries and constructing cars in Volvo factories in the US.

I'll be very interested to se these being reviewed in local markets around the world. I'm interested to see real world range, and also to see a direct comparison with whatever competitors might exist. It does sound like progress is being made, which is great. If there is a battery advancement, then I'm interested to understand how competitors will react, and as ever with technology, how THIS level will eventually be leapfrogged to whatever comes next. Either way, progress, if it really exists here, is a good thing.

It’s great to see new battery tech like this. Waiting for it to trickle down to EX30 sized cars. This size class is just too big for us. EX30 would be a perfect fit if it had 600km range and had a dashboard or HUD. Better aerodynamics would help that goal too. 0.28 drag coefficient isn’t great.
What is the C-rate and which pack (LFP or turnery)?

There may be a large market for EVs with SMALL battery packs, SHORT range. My three friends, retirees who charge their Model 3s at home, seldom drive far. If they travel, they fly. Surely there are many such folks who'd welcome lighter vehicles with smaller battery packs. I would. Thoughts?

The model three certainly has a place, but in terms of overall numbers, it will be overshadowed by hatchback and SUVs. For example, in America, the cyber truck has over 1 million orders and will be very popular, but in the rest of the world I can’t see it selling very much due to its size.
@@IamHandsome4u interestingly the Chinese have followed Mercedes and have gone Fuel Cell for their Semi Trucks. The irony is the styling is very similar to the Tesla Semi, The news of which has gone very quiet lately. Possibly because they have yet to build the factory.
I think this proves that LFP will be the future of EVs, there is no need to use the Cobalt based batteries

Ha , funny If it was that easy they would have gone that way years ago. As soon as you add a conductive load in the form of a generator , the main power source has to work harder to over come it , so you end up with a power stalemate .

Excellent news a lot of manufacturers are moving to LFP. For example Mercedes new EV lorry, long range will be Hydrogen fuel cell “The eActros 600 has three battery packs, each with 207 kWh5. These offer an installed total capacity of 621 kWh. The batteries are based on lithium iron phosphate cell technology (LFP) and are characterized by a long service life. The development engineers at Mercedes-Benz Trucks have designed the eActros 600 to meet the same requirements on the durability of the vehicle and components as a comparable conventional heavy-duty long-haul Actros. That means up to 1.2 million kilometers in ten years of operation. After this period of use, the battery state of health should still be over 80 percent. Moreover, in contrast to other battery cell technologies, approximately 95 percent of the installed capacity can be used with LFP technology. This makes a higher range with the same installed battery capacity possible.” The 50 per-mass production versions have been distributed with Mercedes logistics suppliers to test the mass operation of the eActros 600. Major new Gigafactories are being built across Europe to support battery manufacturing for the Transportation industry.

China annual increase for solar power is more than the total sum of USA. It’s extraordinary number. As Elon Musk said it would be enough for the entire china electricity consumption.
Another ten years maybe? And the nuclear fusion plants will be mature. We will no longer need petroleum.
Rate of addition for wind and solar in China is extraordinary. For comparison in 2022-23 combined they will add wind and solar equivalent to 10 times the amount of peak grid demand/supply from ALL sources: hydro, nuclear, gas, wind, solar etc. for Ontario which is Canada's most heavily industrialized province.
But for the moment, China is still burning a lot of coal. It's still going to take them a few more years to get to net zero carbon.

The battery tech is amazing and should put all of the misconceptions around evs to bed once & for all. However, I think here in Britain, the badge might put people off and they would rather wait for a Volvo with the same battery even if it means a higher list price.

870km range might entice me to purchase an electric car, but would prefer a Tesla. Long distance country driving in Australia requires high range - the fast recharging simply isn’t widespread.

Chinese cars do offer great value for money indeed, but when they encounter issues, can they be repaired? Are spare parts available?
I would think the answer to both questions would more than likely be no! Chinese vehicles are normally very poor quality no matter how good they look.
No need to worry about quality, as electric vehicles in China have been developing for 10 years, and this year's shipment volume is close to 10 million units, with 2 million exported to other countries. The data speaks for itself.@@royritchie4184

Does anyone know if and when Zeekr cars will go on sale in the UK and Europe? Otherwise, although it’s interesting and all, it’s not really relevant for Europeans, especially since it’s not likely to be sold in the USA.
I agree with the sedan thing, not practical for my family’s needs, I prefer hatchbacks. You can’t have 3 kids in the back and a dog in the boot, nor is it useful for trips to Ikea or the rubbish tip.

What is the benefit of so many brands under the Geely umbrella? Seems inefficient. Like the old days of GM. Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Cadillac all having the same basic car under a different name. I suppose they could be differentiated by value, performance, luxury etc but in the EV space they all seem similar.????
It is exactly the same as VW with Porsche, Audi Skoda seat, Rolls-Royce Bentley, and God knows what else.

The technology might be good, but it's only useful if you pay the premium for that special battery and have access to a suitable charger?
And it's still not cheap: over twenty grand more than a good quality, competent ICE car.

Relax, you don’t need ultra long range as long as you have a good charging infrastructure. I find some of what you are saying quite unsubstantiated.
The problem these days, as with all Chinese made cars, is the lingering doubts about Quality Control. Stories of rust and cars catching fire in China, are not helping their cause! Import taxes will also affect the pricing, making the car not quite the bargain it appears. Lastly, as everyone is aware these days, when it comes to Software and Charging...Tesla wins every time.
I'm not sure what Chinese makers can do to counter this narrative.
