  • Becoming an Entrepreneur has been absurdly over-hyped and romanticized these days. So today, I decided to take you along for what an actual full day of work looks like for me as a startup CEO, and in doing so, share with y'all some of my biggest struggles that I'm currently facing, and what I'm doing about them.

    I’m not a business student or knowledgeable in business, but if you’re constantly looking for “the best” person for the job, your search will never end.
    You should probably look for the people that are looking for a mission to see through to the end, and people that are willing to grow and become better and more efficient over time as the company grows.
    You need people that want to BUILD something together, that means for better or for worse you stick together.

    Hey Jay, I work in management consulting. Your content is GOLD, one piece of advice based on your closing thoughts. Given the scale you have reached, I think you greatly stand to benefit from bringing on a head of strategy into Stan. this person can help you think of the future, the big picture, and how to evolve your business to stay on the forward frontier. Understandably there is too much tactically day-to-day on your plate that prevents you from thinking strategy enough

    John, I have heard you speak about side hustles. I am a data scientist by day, but I am truly meant to be a game developer and am both passionate and talented at it. Both data science and game development are "all in" fields that are ultra competitive; this combination of career and side hustle would also probably lead to burnout.. What is your advice for someone in such a situation?

    • @jayhoovy
      @jayhoovy  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hmmm - I'm going to push you on your thinking just to give you perspective - totally hear you on both being intense. But what would a world look like where for just an hour a day, or a few hours a weekend, for an entire year you were consistent about just making a little bit of progress on testing your gaming dreams? I bet you could build a pretty dope indie game by year 1.5-2 with just a few hours/week of truly shipping and learning :) and use your data science skills as a competitive advantage!
