What an incredible opportunity to really listen to the story of one of the most thoughtful founders in the world. Michael, your story is truly an inspiration to startups around the world. Thanks for creating this opportunity EO!
I've watched hours of Michael Seibel's videos on YC, but this interview gets so much of his personal insights and thoughts out of him than ever. So glad to have this chance to hear about Michael's story - thank you EO!
As usual, Michal's insights on "what matters" in the process of founding a startup are things that all founders must not forget. Truly inspiring video!
@@Arthur-vq2me He kinda explained it in the video. But as a startup founder, when you are early and only have a few customers, you can do things that don't scale. That means things like talking to all your customers, offering the best support possible for your customers, another example is the airbnb example where they went to their first users houses and took the marketing pics for them. As a small startup, you need to do things that big companies cannot do because they simply have way too many users.
I needed to hear this today: 'If you ask any successful startup founder, they never know the answers when they start.' As someone who's been hesitating to take the first step because I feel unprepared, this is a powerful nudge to just get started and learn along the way
7:29 - You should work two years on something before it's working. Damn right. It's been two years of our startup, and when we started, I never imagined that what we are building today will be our product. I thought I knew everything about customers, but it turned out to be completely wrong. But my ego wouldn't let me accept the fact for too long... Fortunately, when finally I had the courage to face the reality and started to talk to customers, it all became a different story. We are still in the stage of pre-PMF, but we became much more humble and are eager to learn more about the customer. The journey so far has been and will continue to be tough, but we will not give up until we achieve our mission: 'empower lifelong learners.' Thanks for sharing your story, Michael & EO.
8:00 life changing exit 11:30 biggest mistakes 12:30 run towards your biggest feared/anxiety task 13:40 do things that don’t scale. That’s your most powerful edge as a small company
It's amazing that we live in an era where we're able to listen to such smart and successful people in the other side of the world with just a phone and internet. Thank you ♥️
Wao!!! So there are 2 more advanced support programs after getting accepted into YC. This is super great. My YC aspiration is now triple, 2023 bi idhinillah. THANK YOU VERY MUCH MS FOR THIS MASTERCLASS VIDEO.
Michaels intellect is on parallel. This man is so incredibly valuable and experience, perspective, and overall candor. I love listening to him speak I feel like every thought is a valuable nugget of knowledge.

Cheers to EO for such an excellent video. As we exited three years of an overheated market, this kind of down-to-the-earth, faithful-to-the-basics videos will be super helpful again. Keep going!

What an amazing video. I've not ever imagined that I could listen Michael Seibel's story in this way. Really hope that watch more entrepreneur's interview videos in this channel.
Thank you EO and Michael for sharing this. Watched this the first day it was uploaded and I come back to it almost every single time to just listen more and get inspired!
This script looks like a really well-made, high-quality documentary. And I was very surprised to see Mr. Micheal Seibel's calm and stable tone and manner.
Hi Michael, Thank you for sharing your precious time as people with goodwill for a better world and the next generation. What were the beautiful questions? What makes you feel uncomfortable as an advisor or investor? I was wondering what was the question. EO~ could you please share the list of questions along with your experience?
Ahh I really liked this interview. Have an idea and becoming a founder for the first time and I am already sick to death of hearing about unicorns and 10,100x. Was nice to get a friendlier approach.
Glad it worked out! My investing in my best friend just lost me 7 grand. I guess the lesson is to be more discernable than me and more like the guy who graduated from Yale.
In YC's 3 key pieces, he says - Do things that don't scale. Why??? I didn't understand. Scaling is something which is necessary for the company to go big.
Hey EO, thanks for the video, i would appreciate if the music is taken out, it was uncomfortably distracting for me to watch the video as i wouldve liked. thank you

13:00 Although we have to fight asymmetrical as underdogs, we can fight differently by “doing things that don’t scale”! Incredible inspiration
What does that mean?

He’s so wise
Knowing when to get out of a company is important too, even big companies only last 50 years often. Its the wild west out here.
