    Walls should be constructible in a radius around the strongholds so that you can build a castle town(stronghold with surrounding walls and a village outside). In this way, you could put the priest, stables, etcetera inside the walls. The vast majority of the town would still be outside of the walls. This would be the best of both worlds. Houses should be able to build fences in a small area around them, and jumpable fences in a slightly larger radius(for ranch/farm space and such). I think sieges need to involve some walled element that needs to be breeched, otherwise it's not a siege it's just a raid. Also, all fences should be scalable through an interaction based on character size/weight.

      Nah that was done in mo1 . People just hid behind the walls and farmed for ten more so you’d have to just blow through 1000 more boulders and 10 More hours of your life to remove the walls . If they do walls again there has to be a strict limit and they should be easily scalable with ladders .

      @@pandahsykes602 Siege ladders should be a part of basic siege gameplay. I do agree that there should be significant limitations. I'm thinking about castle towns where the keep is incapsulated in walls but the town itself is not. The walled in section should only have room for 1-2 medium sized buildings. This was generally a stable and barracks IRL(chapel was part of the keep). They could even offer prefabs that level out the ground and come with walls+buildings.

      @@I_Am_Empyrean you are describing the Keeps that are in the game. Normal guilds can't just build Keep style layouts out in the wild.

      @@DocXGAMCThe value of keeps>strongholds is TC. There's no reason this building style should be limited to only mega guilds/alliances. Strongholds are smaller, by nature, anyway.

    Easy way to ensure its not a case of 'Walls Online' is to force guilds that build walls that the walls must be built in such a way that it is a closed loop. You cannot build walls within 20 meters of a dungeon or cave entrance. Any freestanding walls that are not in a closed loop will cause a severe maintenance cost, think 500 Gold every 24 hours, which incentivizes closed loops and also suffer from extreme instability issues causing their health to be extremely low, so much that a random with a mace and 5 minutes free time can beat the wall down quite easily.
    As soon as walls are in a closed loop their maintenance cost decreases, their strength becomes super strong requiring siege machines for easy destruction and walls automatically snap together to make building them seamless and pretty.
    It'd be nice if there were different wall styles and wall defenses. Like pitch pots at the top, battlements to shoot from, smaller palisade walls that can be built a short distance from the main wall (though of an absurdly low health, mainly used as a charge deterrent and a way to safely open gates in between the staging area and the town proper.)
    I really hope the subs won't be too expensive.

    How will the guards know what to attack? I hope its just not attacking reds as a blue can grief people in their town until they work some other mechanic to make them attackable. Like a system to say anyone guild that does /guards on a player the guards will just attack that person.

      From what Henrik explained before it will be that the Owners can set up an "Allowlist" or "Blacklist" where you put in player and guildnames that are either banned from the city or allowed in the city.

      those mega zergs will just destroy your little shop. Guilds will be the ones to decide who build what and where. They will simply send a zerg to destroy whatever they dont want in their lands.

    Guard schedule time needless and not fun, people aren't gonna want to risk going to player made towns to trade etc if there is a risk they arrive and just get ganked for all their stuff, what fun is added to the game by making PVP protection unpredictable/unreliable, it's stressful enough moving around the world, don't make town safety a dice roll otherwise people won't use them!

      Open world PVP is great IF players know when they can and cannot relax, adding unpredictable elements to this will badly damage the game, MMO's need PVE farmers to keep the world interesting, PVE'ers keep MMO's alive, PVP'ers aren't gonna farm and craft and create a meaningful in game economy.
      I worry these guards are just gonna be easy to glitch out and exploit in a thousand different ways and ganker zergs will sweep across the map making player made towns pointless to build and engage with

    I dont understand why ALL the guards would work the same shift instead of splitting them so when one crew goes to bed another would take it's place, makes ZERO sense from a security standpoint.

      I'm pretty sure it's gonna be individual time setting per guard npc. You can split them up evenly or just have them all patrol at the same time.
