- Bucketlist Series Episode 5: Wallasey Golf Club
I try to break 100 at another Top 100 golf course in Liverpool, UK. A real links test with 30mph winds. Immaculate greens and deep bunkers a plenty.
Follow me on socials: @BogeyGolfUK
As you asked -
Into wind, take wind mph as a % and add 5 yards. Eg 15mph wind = 15% so a 100 yard shot would play 115+5=120. Sounds like the wind here was probably 30 so a 150 shot would be equivalent of a 200 shot...!
Down wind, take 1/3rd of the wind speed as a percentage to derease your distance by. Eg 15mph wind plays 5% shorter (15/3) so 100 plays 95, 200 plays 190.
I need a caddy 😂

Wallasey is a great test of golf - keep the positive energy going Dennis-another great video.
Love the place. Hopefully I’ll return in better form!
Editing quality is really coming too. The b/w stuff and premonitions add soo much fun.
Thanks Richard! I’m glad it’s coming across 🤝
As a high handicapper your channel has quickly become one of my favorites. That birdie on 11 followed by the bunker shot on 12 are the things that keep us coming back! LFG!!!
You know it brother! 💪💪💪
Standing up a bit on the back swing possibly leading to a lurch on the way down which may cause an inconsistent strike. I would love to see you do a video lesson.
Its something I’m considering for sure 👍
You cannot beat links golf! Great video mate, that birdie was insaneeeeee 🏌⛳
Yeah it was mega. The 40mph wind is less fun 😂
Loved the sad music section it had me howling 😂. Very relatable as I’m a high handicapper myself
Haha thanks mate, it had to be done
Dennis, just wanted to say that your great attitude and very honest on-course assessments are wonderful to watch as so many people point out, but the production value on your videos with the drone overflights and the graphics would be fit for someone with 800k subscribers, let alone your 8.8k. It’s great to see your channel gain so much traction, been watching you for ages. Really glad to see you’re getting an opportunity to play these great courses and enjoy your golf, even when not playing brilliantly! Keep it up!
Thanks man, comments like these mean a lot 🙌
You're consistent but Dennis, look at 2nd shot on 13. You're feet are aimed to where the ball ended but your neck is doing the "Exorcist" and looking behind you. Great shot but you're looking one way and aligned another and you should shave 10 strokes. Do you use the same grip for every club? If you're using a strong grip and you're closing the club will cause the ball to fly left and SOMETIMES give you the results you visualize. If you change to a neutral or weak grip, closing the club face should give you a straighter or fade shot-not including above or below feet. If not, keep one grip-how many knuckles are showing or use strong on first 6, neutral on next 6 and weak on final 6 and chart. Tilt and stay back on driver. Tilt less on Irons but shift towards target with weight on front foot. for Informational purposes only...
Thanks Jeffrey! Really appreciate the advice
Wow. The wind! Some fantastic golf in there, but having never played a links course on the ocean, I'm imagining 18 extra strokes?? It's like table tennis on a proper tennis court. Great Vid as always.
That’s such a good analogy 😂 thanks for watching! 🙌
You know some of us want to help with the alignment and the swing. Even all the way from Philadelphia PA...😀 So can you either get your camera person to show your setup just before swinging so we can see your grip from the Front and Over Shoulder and or wear a Go-Pro prior or during setup. Please add the distance and club to the pin on screen so we get an idea at a glance. Enjoy my Philadelphia Phillies vs Metropolitan Mets. Give my Phillies a shout out by next week. Thanks and Regards from this side of the pond. Jeff
Hey man, thanks for the tip. I’ll definitely add the yardage to the green instead of the hole yardage 🤝
You play off 24. You pick a tough links course with the wind blowing at 90 mph.
You should be pleased with the result. Very few people would shoot their handicap, let alone beat it in them conditions. Well played 👍👍
Thanks Ian! It’s a good perspective to have to be honest it was playing extremely tough out there
Dennis...after watching virtually all videos, and being a break 90 hopeful, please put the 56 away around the green and learn to hit a 7-8 iron bump and run. Treat it like a putt, read the green, and let it run. You will save so many shots and lower your skull across the green count by a lot. A 56 is a tough club to hit at the best of times....
Yeah it’s a sensible call!
Man I just posted my most difficult course ever. On courses like these you just need to absorb that view!!!
Oh yeah man for sure!
Tough conditions there Dennis, fun video tho. Keep grinding my friend, the results will eventually come :)
Thank bro!
Don't want to be to hard on yourself Dennis some great shots. I'm a 23 handicap and if you ever down in Leicester I'll give you a game.
Thanks buddy really appreciate it
"If this isn't the bounce back of the century I don't know what is" - yeh, but leave the greyed out slow mo till after the hole's complete - gave the game away with the immediate replay 😅
Some people love the comedy of it so I’m torn on this one 🤣
Great video Dennis, you keep smiling no matter the situation. Maybe try chipping with your 8 or 9 iron if you have plenty of green to work with instead of the 56 to get more run out and less loft. Keep up the great work 😊
Yeah I need to get more confident with the bump and run, I just have a huge fear of blading those 😂
Youve the power no doubt. I think you do play too many hero shots for your handicap level at the moment. More course management i think.
You’re definitely right, I felt like I was battling with the wind so much that I felt like I had to resort more so to long clubs.
Wasn’t it Frank Stableford who invented the scoring system? Not Old Tom.
Oh god you’re probably right 😂
It was indeed Dr Frank Stableford and Nina Cherry did not sing 99 Balloons (IYKYK) 😂
@@davegregory2809 I've been on his back about it. I'm surprised the German Embassy haven't been in touch with him m.
@@BogeyGolfUK You missed the plaque on the 2nd tee that commemorates Dr Frank Stableford's invention. He was playing in a strokeplay event and had a disasterous first hole, ending his chance of competing before he had really started. He went home and came up with his now famous scoring system that gives us mere mortals a chance of a fun days golf. There is the only known portrait of him hanging in the club house. This was my first "proper" golf course and I love it.
@@Dooguk someone else pointed this out! My bad for messing that one up! What a story that is though 😂
😮 gotta breakfast ball that first shot mate
Maybe next time 🤣
Hello from Clayton, NC...love your content! You are always staying positive... I could learn a thing or two. What driver are you using?
Thanks man! I play the Srixon ZX5
That's a great driver!
I just picked up the Ping G430 10K about a month ago. I had serious buyers remorse for about 2 weeks, just because it was crazy expensive.
Once I started hitting some nice straight drives, the remorse went away. No regrets...love it!
Love it. May I suggest a little twist? I’d love to see how you get on with a very short/ easy rated course, I wonder how low you’d go?
That’s exactly what’s coming in a few weeks!
Your intro montage was fire.
Playing a links course one day is goals of mine.
Every course I play on is tree lined on both sides.
Curious if you’re still working with a coach?
As always. Cheering for that low score.
Thanks Mike! I am but we have solely been focusing on driver for the last month or so. 👍
@@BogeyGolfUKYour misses are getting better. You’re not far away.
Live round the corner and can’t get on it to play 😂. Great video as always. 👍🏽
Thanks mate! 🤝
That course is way too much for your game and mine!
I thoroughly enjoyed it though!
Stick with it Dennis, even Nelly Korda has bad holes.😆 Tough conditions mate.👍
Haha very true indeed!
Not a course for a very high handicapper
👍
What tees do you play from?
Yellow tees 👍
Good to see you playing with your pops.
I can appreciate you being transparent with the game! Most would edit out the bad shots . 6 months back in after a 13 year layoff here and i experience the same while trying to improve!
Thanks Robert! Well get there mate
noooo, you did it again - "back 9 transformation has been astronomical" - staaahhhpppp 😭😭😭 we don't want spoilers before watching the footage - leave the slow mo till afterwards 💔💔💔
if you did the golf sidekick strategy youd be able to break 90 easily.
Ah man I don’t know if I’ve got it in me to hit 9 iron off the tee 😂 the euphoria of a good tee shot is too addictive
@@BogeyGolfUK its very adaptable to any swing. I personally think your driver is fine. Its your tendency to go right at hazards and bunkers that would benefit hahahaha
What a beautiful course! I would have shot 200 on it! Your videos are my favorite of all the TH-cam golfers I watch, honest and humorous content, keep them coming! Come On!!
Appreciate it mate! 🙌
Remember shoulders then arms.
I try to remember a million things and I forget them all during my backswing 😂
Great video, amazing course. Despite you being a high handicap (like myself) your enthusiasm and positive mindset is massive which is why I'm always viewing your channel and videos as the content is great. Keep up the good work 👍
Much appreciated!
Was that a little fart there at 13:02?
Haha I listened back. I wish I could confirm but it’s the mic crackling, which is actually a big headache during the editing process😂
@@BogeyGolfUK Ah, I think NVIDIA have a tool for removing noise from audio using AI. It was really good for realtime noise suppression so video should be no problem. Just no idea how you would apply that to a clip :D might be useful though
Those were some difficult conditions. 105 really isn’t bad at all plus you found the balls. I’d have lost them!
Also loving the quality of the vids. You’ve come far.
Thanks bro, really appreciate it!
Absolutely love your videos, Dennis! I can only imaging how many people want to play a round with you! Legend ⛳️🔥
You’re the legend buddy. Thanks for the comment 🙌
You have amazing attitude. Always smiling even when shot goes good or bad or putt is in or hurried and missed. Its fun to watch. I keep telling my kid to get that kind of attitude to be happy.
I agree, seems like a top bloke
Thanks mate I try not to take it too serious! 🙌
I feel so guilty for laughing out loud when you topped three in a row. Sorry I know I’m going to hell for doing that 😂
Do you not think I was laughing 🤣🤣
@@BogeyGolfUK I loved it when you got to the green to work out the shots 1 top, 2 top, 3 top , 4….. 😂
Tough track, especially with that wind
@@paulrollich3615 yeah it was so tough with the wind. But wow what a course
Call us friends not people, thanks for your videos I do enjoy them Dennis.
Glad you like them!
my guy hits the 2 inch putt so light on 15 I thought it might stop - I'd have lost my s*** with laughter had that stayed short. 😅
The Yip king 😂
My man a bad putt is always better than a bad chip especially on a links course. Ball on the ground as much as possible around the greens and always club up and swing easy when playing in the wind. Great video - your enthusiasm is infectious 😉
Thanks mate! Really appreciate it
Love the videos Dennis. Always a pleasure to watch and relatable :D
Glad you enjoy it!
What a beauty of a course! Great you share that with us. Inspires to plan a UK golf trip
It’s a beauty!
First hole was double, then second hole was quad...thats plus 6. Came up at the end of hole 2 plus 5, then at the start of hole 3 in the top corner it says plus 7??? 😂
Love your content though Dennis, definitely one of my favourite golf channels!
Hole 2 was a +5 I said quad out loud because I miscounted 🤣 thanks bro! 🙌
Ahhh i just got a bit confused haha. That birdee on hole 11 though...absolute class! The ones that keep us coming back to this ridiculously tough game!
@@djspacehopper8728 you know it! 🤣
Thoroughly enjoyed that, Dennis. So many good shots in there, and a birdie to boot!! Love the editing and sound as well. Look forward to the next one 👏⛳️
Thank you!
Thank you!
They're baaaaack, excellent video!
Thank you!
👍👍
Great editing mate, smashing it
Much appreciated
Mate regardless the end score always great to watch .. smashing it mate 👊👊
Thanks as always mate!
What a course and a birdie as well.
Loving your content - Keep them coming.
Thanks Mark!
I genuinely enjoy your commentary and watching you play. once the golf game comes together it will feel like a bonus on top of what your already doing
Thanks Mike!
Double bogey hunter 😅 I know the feeling. Great content mate
The doubles just kept coming and coming 🤣
Dennis , I feel your pain over & over again . Keep it going Bro !
Always! Thanks bro
Stay away from the🦆. Come on Dennis
11 gets smoked. Have you heard of Silloth on Solway GC? North edge of Lake District. Cheaper and stunning.
The highs & lows of golf, in this video 🫣 it’s in there though dude so keep grinding & you’ll get there in no time 👊🏻 you give us all hope 🔝
