Imagine having a Virtual Reality camera on every driver's helmet and being able to watch the race from their point of view in a VR headset + being able to switch between different drivers and even replays. This would be a true game changer in terms of watching F1.
What about those 10-20 place points are for the constructors championship only. Encourage reliability but still make the drivers have to break into the top half of the field
I would change the camera angles. F1 has a very slow feeling to it when you watch it on TV, even though they're going at a blistering pace. A wider field of view would help demonstrate just how fast the car is going in comparison to its surroundings, and would give the viewers more visual information as to how the driver in the car has to focus on whats in front of them.
I see a lot of people talking about this point and I would definitely love to see a bit wider field of view but it's not going to happen as it would prevent more air time for the sponsors on the car.
It's because your eyes and brain adjusts to the speed of F1 and makes it feel "normal" for you. After you watch 15 mins of F1, switch over to same track with sports cars. Then comeback to F1. It does not feel slow anymore.
If they done what they did for free practice 1 at jeddah this weekend with the "sound up" period , it was one lap of no commentators talking, with just the sound of the car, but the camera angles changed as the car drove past different sections. It works better for a street circuit as the cameras can get closer
i love how nico is always spot on in these videos. hes talking about how dangerous that corner is with the high speed entry and a wall close to your right meanwhile Leclerc just smashed his Ferrari into that wall, glad he's ok the impact looked brutal.
Most impact looks brutal, verstappen could've got killed in Azerbaijan if the car didn't spin to the other side, I really don't know why Street circuits are a thing, they're very dangerous. I really hope they put more runoff in Saudi and other street circuits
@@oplisderi3164 Street circuits do not have to be dangerous, you see innovative series like Formula E using them exclusively. Yes, they run cars with drastically less power but the key factor is when you keep the barriers very close and parallel to the circuit, the angle of attack of any collision is shallower which means that you only take a small fraction of the horizontal force that you normally would were the barrier to be further from the track.
That wasn't the same corner, the wall Nico is talking about actually isn't even a wall in real life that's where they have the chicane that cara keep sending big sparks off of
I'd add a second broadcast with dedicated coverage for the midfield teams. Often the most interesting racing is between the likes of Ferrari, Mclaren, AT, Alpine where the differences in cars are close enough that strategy calls can really matter and it can be totally missed (they even miss some overtakes!) by the main broadcast's focus on the Max/Lewis battle. Could be a great addition to F1TV
Agree. This year I watched Zandvoort from perpective of one driver. I mean onboard, radio, timing. Official broadcast was in the background. Completely different race, such a grest emotions. I didn't even know what was happening in front and I didn't mind it.
I would redesign all pit lanes in an attempt to make pit stop time loss as low as possible, hopefully around 15s. This is the problem that is killing race strategies. Reducing tyre life just makes races even more conservative. By reducing time loss from pit stops, teams will do 2-stops and push more.
I agree to an extent but I think the bigger issue is how hard it is to overtake on many tracks and so track position is so important. Even if you do a 2 stop and are much faster you may struggle to overtake often. I’m hoping the 2022 cars go a long way to solve that but let’s see.
We sure miss you on the track, Nico! I’m pretty certain there are a lot of people who agree with me that used to pull for you every race and wish you nothing but the best in your retirement from F1. I really enjoy your analyses of the tracks!
If tracks had pit exits with corners leading back onto the track (similar to Brazil) it could make it harder to predict whether the undercut will work or not and make for better viewing when you have Lewis flat down the pit straight and Max coming out of the pit exit and to see who would come out ahead
One change I would make is to bring back Nico to the grid line up :) You're part of F1 and it's history. If we can't have you in F1 then your commentary, exclusive interviews, insightful knowledge and a visible passion for motorsports, driving, F1 and competitive sports in general makes for excellent content for a long time F1 fan. Cheers Nico.
personally i would like to see a driver switch between slow and fast teams. even just for fun in testing, it would be interesting to see hamilton and bottas or verstappen and perez switch cars with mick and mazepin or russell and latifi. i think making this switch (even just in testing) could create a cool tradition where drivers get to experience other cars
Max got a 50k penalty just for giving a minor tickle to lewis' wing You think teams what other people in their cars? It was a miracle merc allowed even George
Hahaha you don’t realize that teams have many many people during the race working on which strategy is best. It would be of 0 added value for a team to let their drivers communicate with each other.
@@jopvandam6820 But all those strategists can't actually feel the car physically, only the drivers can. The drivers communicating can allow for better strategies. E.g. I need you to attempt to undercut Max because I'm stuck behind him and have a lot more pace so when he pits, I can overcut him and you can get track position. E.g. Can you give me DRS so I can hold off Lewis?
My idea was that in the end of the season we need to make an extra-race where everybody runs on the same car so to end-up negotiations about skills & cars balance
Honestly. If I had any power to make changes, I would make sure that for 2 races of the year the reserve driver would have the obligation to replace both first and second driverse once. You could choose the race and all, but would add a lot of oportunities for rookies, puzzle for strategists and a huge new variable to the game. Abraços do Brasil. 😊🇧🇷
What I would change is the way races and sessions are broadcasted, showing all the camera angles from all the cars on the track rather than showing the leaders seconds ahead of others. I would also add a track map at a corner that stays on the screen no matter what.
Something that I would like added to F1 would be having driver point of views during a race. It would be very fun to be able to see What they’re seeing during an actual race !
@@Hacktheplanet_ that’s because those extra views are used for race control, if we saw all those views then race control would have a mob on their hands every weekend.
know that this has been suggested on reddit but I seriously believe it would be much better if they had a mini feed of the live race while showing replays
I would create a new rule which says every team has to use 3 different special liveries on 3 weekends because the fans are always excited about them and it is good to have a difference to every other weekend. Personally my favourite special lvery was from Red Bull in Monaco 2005 where it was all Star Wars themed for example the epit crew which wore stromtrooper suits.
This circuit feels dangerous in some areas. The corner where Charles crashed has potential of a car bouncing back onto the circuit. Also the blind very fast corners where traffic is. It’s just got me a little worried of a massive incident that hopefully doesn’t occur. Hopefully something can be done to help with potential issues.
Absolutely. Nico and you already pointed out turn 22. It looked like the wall absorbed Charles well in FP2 but if someone hits the very end of that barrier and it doesn't work as intended...yikes. Especially since the slightly curved straights lend themselves to drafting going into it. What I am also worried about is turns 4,5,6. While it may not lend itself to overtaking, everyone is going to want to hug the walls and touch kerbs to get the best racing line. Turn 4/5 is too fast to be blind with pretty much 0 runoff. Turn 6 has a similar barrier that you may not want to hit the end of. I just hope Mazespin is at the back.
They have some special barriers which are designed not to bounce the car back. I think they are called Safer and were invented in Nascar. It was mentioned by commentators during free practice. But I agree it's dangerous.
@@tommy4862 Yeah but you dont need this safer barriers becaus the wall is close to the racing line and when you crash you are automatic on the racing line. You got 3-4 runoffs thats it
@@leahx4552 yeah, that can happen too. It depends on the part of the track. But some corners are totally blind and crazy fast so that’s scary for sure.
@@tommy4862 yep. That the danger. You saw in fp2 at turn 10 where lewis was coming and out of nowhere after the corner was a driver slowing down to let him pass.
I love watching the face cam while you do laps, I always picture pro drivers being able to do their stuff effortlessly but to see you pulling faces while you concentrate makes me not so embarrassed when I do it rofl
Generally I would love for the car regulations to be relaxed, but especially adjustable aero devices. As a young engineer I can only imagine the crazy ideas that could be developed. Cornering speed would increase massively and the wheel to wheel race strategy could be completely changed. For example artificial "dirty air" vs "automatic downforce systems". It would be insane, and with the cost cap in place, the development would be limited so that performance differences don't increase like crazy. It would make the constructors championship much more relevant to the public and the teams.
You have to balance the regulations by following the safety and tire innovation rates. I don't think any of the main tire manufacturers would dare to partner up with F1 if it got like that, they would just destroy them. And already at the speed they're going, the crashes get pretty crazy, you don't want to add too much more before you reach the point where the crumple zones are just not enough anymore. And you can't have the drivers passing out from the G-forces mid-corner either. Unless you want to remove the drivers and make the machines drive themselves, I don't think that's either feasible or a good idea in general. I think it's more impressive how much improvements they're able to extract out of very strict regulations. Optimization is the future, innovation for the sake of innovation without practical applications is not sustainable on the long term.
@@charles-antoinemartel-roy I really disagree mate. Think about the amount of RnD that tire manufacturers would gain. Polymers are some of the most understudied materials and the dynamic behavior opens many applications not only in F1. It could even introduce an extra Deg aspect. Just think of how many other routes there are: Braking Performance, Engine efficiency, numeric simulation technology, computational requirements, actuation technologies, etc... You are right safety is always the most important thing, but I'm not saying that we should change every wing for flaps with an 90° range of motion for the next race. It needs to be gradual but still.... And it can be just like changing the brake balance or DRS, it still needs a driver to operate.
@@josepablochew877 Tire manufacturers are already working flat out my friend. Pirelli isn't just sitting there manufacturing, they have permanent research facilities already, and this generation of F1 car is already causing tire failures. And it doesn't matter if your tire is strong enough at race 1, but by the last race the cars are now 3 seconds faster because there was too much room for improvement and the tires can no longer take it. And in-season change of tire construction is bad for multiple reasons, for example how it punishes the teams that had done the best job tuning their car to fit the tire and it introduces risks of corruption, where a tire manufacturer would deliberately introduce a tire favoring a specific team. The Formula One world is already extremely precariously balanced, Mclaren almost ran out of money because Covid delayed the start of the season by 4 months. The risk assessment resulting from this sort of regulations being introduced would scare away investors and the sport would crash. That's without even mentioning how bad the actual racing would be. Don't worry, every engineer dreams to see an insane car built without restrictions, but F1 is not where it should happen. Maybe it could be a standalone project, a modern real life version of the Newey-designed X2011 type of project.
I'm still not so sure about that. Even with the cost cap, big teams such as Merc, Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren would still hold the best cars, the best drivers, facilities and personel, of course not counting that some of these teams make their own engines, giving them even more freedom with their designs. Something the smaller guys wouldn't have much to their hands to compete if they're allowed to go all out I think that simplifying both the Aero concepts, perhaps with some standarzation between the teams, and of course simpler, more inviting Engine rules to allow new manufacturers/in house departments to be made as well as more varied interpretations should have to take priority before the Teams could go all out on their designs, or else we might see the return of the early 2000s and 2010s Ferrari/Merc Dominance, if not worse
I’d love to see a race with only “retired” F1 drivers from past eras go racing with the same teams and cars at the end of the championship almost like the celebrity game at the NBA all star weekend in a way
Hi Nico, I love hearing your commentary on F1, it's always great to see you on Sky commentating. My proposals for changes to F1 rules: If drivers change tyres under a red flag, a time penalty will be imposed equal to the average time lost for a tyre change at that track, the time period of the penalty will be determined before the race. The same rule would apply to bodywork changes (possibly additional time added for a nose change). In a situation where a driver would win the world championship by deliberately taking out a rival driver (and is adjudged to have done so by the stewards), even if he did not finish the race himself, the offending driver should suffer a points deduction and the aggrieved driver should be awarded points representative of the position he was in at the time of the incident. All three tyre types, soft, medium and hard, should be used during a race, thereby forcing two stops and thereby creating more unpredictability. Phew! What a race! I had sweaty palms throughout.
Awesome insight as always Nico! In terms of things to change about F1, of course all fans want to see the best drivers in the cars. Not sure how it would be done, but I’d love for pay drivers to not be the only way for lower budget teams to survive
I would shorten the cars. The increased turning radius, to me, is part of what makes passing so hard in corners. They're already trying to solve the downforce issues with the new cars but having more ROOM to actually pass would probably be way better.
One of major reasons cars have increased in dimensions is for driver safety. If we want a smaller car size with the current safety standards, reduction in max and average speed is imperative.
I would like to see a kind of single lap qualifying. Give each driver the track to themselves and give them 3 laps to make it count. It could shake up the order if Simone makes a mistake and they would not be able to use a strategy to get a tow or anything just the drivers true pace. Also it would give all the teams more television time to possibly attract new and more sponsors with.
Adding a joker lap, meaning all the drivers have to take a different line once in a race, they can choose whenever they want to do that. This would add some pretty spicy strategic plays to the game. For example adding an extra corner, which if taken concludes your joker lap. Also you would have to indicate with the back lamp, that you’re going to the joker lap, so they don’t crash you from behind. This would help with being held. Btw I heard this somewhere so I’m not taking credit, but would he hella fun
Love your analysis Nico. One thing I would change is to recognize the efforts of the qualifying. Similar to the points of the sprint race, hand 3,2,1 points for the top three finish in qualifying. It would make the qualifying lot more interesting.
I would like to see all 20 drivers driving same spec car for qualifying and use their respective teams' car for races. That way faster driver would have chance to start higher in the grid and teams can use their technology for winning races and championship. And fans would know who's the faster driver, atleast in qualifying, and competitive races on sunday.
I would open up engine regs so the teams can run anything they want. If a team wants to go full electric, they can, and if they want to run heavy ICEs only, they can. I’d love to have variety of engines back in F1. Plus, it would encourage new manufacturers.
The thing I would like to see added/changed is unlimited testing. I think if teams want to, they should be able to rent out a track and see where there car is with changes that are actively being made to the car. Im sure there’s issues with this idea, whether it be logistical or financial, I just think it could benefit smaller teams a lot
DRS train rule: if there is a car in front and behind you within one second, you would have three laps to get past the car in front if the car in front didn’t have DRS. If you can’t get past the car in front in three laps then you lose drs for three laps even if you are still within DRS range of the car ahead. This would promote more overtaking and limit DRS trains.
I'd like to see the format they brought in this year on a couple of races, go fix for all race venues, where you have the sprint race. So P1 to P3. Sprint race after quallifing, and then the main race on sunday. More racing. More for the fans.
Nico - I would change the sprint race to be a “Reverse Grid Race”. Qualifying sets the start grid for both sprint and final race so that teams have motivation to do well in Qualifying. Sprint becomes a reverse grid and it would spectacular to the duels and also give an opportunity to the mid field and below to fight for some points.
Definitely for me I would like the Monaco race structure to change. The prestige it used to hold is wearing off as overtakes become harder and harder. Maybe they could make the race day a ‘who gets the fastest lap wins’ style, or have a few detours that everyone needs to do once or twice throughout the race so that strategy becomes even more important.
The regulators should build the Formula around the capabilities they want the cars to have, rather than prescribing how the teams build the cars - tell the teams how much power the engines can produce, not how many cylinders it can have. Tell them how much drag and downforce they must produce at a given speed, rather than strictly describing the shape of the cars they must build. This could in theory create more varied cars that are still competitive.
Hand out extra points for EVERY fastest lap of (sprint) races. So you can collect multiple fastest lap points. Sets an end to tactical slow driving because everybody needs to be on pace to collect and neglect bonus points every lap.
I would be not be giving any DRS advantage, to give every driver level playing field to race and win without this advantage. This makes the race worth to watch the drivers skill coming to play with the strategies. Thanks for this opportunity.
Qualifying points could make things interesting. A driver receives 25 QP for Pole, 20 QP for 2nd, 15 QP for 3rd, 4th=10 QP, 5th=9 QP down to 13th=1 QP. When a Driver accumulates 50 Qualifying Points this converts to 3 Championship Points then the Qualifying Points are reset. By the end of the season the Mid-Range teams could pick up these points adding an extra dynamic to the final few races.
They should consider this rule any team can start from last position When we start from last of the grid deliberately an win the race they should award 3 or 5 more points (like total for first 25+5 points for taking deliberate penalty starting in last). This can help the Racing by making them thrilling and can help some drivers to achieve the impossible.
Haas would take the offer every weekend then cuz they're last anyway. You could just some grid penalties to start last, so you get new engines and a bonus for victory. What if someone else also takes the offer? They can't both start P20.
I'd like to see the high RPM engines come back. That sound is legendary and even the cars aren't the same I think people would enjoy it and bring them back to the old days.
To be completely honest I prefer the new sounds over the old ones. They bring back memories, sure, but we should tick off the old days and enjoy those memories.
What a legend Rosberg is. Thanks so much for making content like this. As for making the racing more interesting, I would hand out equal points for qualifying as I would for race day, and then reverse the grid for the race from the qualifying results. Every race would be bananas.
Remember some of those olden day camera angles? Bring them back! I’d personally love to see a camera angle from the rear wing. Think that’d be cool! Team VS team heats? 1v1 heats? I’d love to see 2 teams/rivals battle each other on track at a time for points. Driver head to head challenges on the grid. We get to see a lot of these from teams but hardly ever teams VS other teams in the paddock. Would be an interesting way to lift the tension between teams at times
Winning car and driver at the end of the race drive onto a spinning stage. Stage is circular. Then the stage slowly rotates round and rises up about 10 feet to 15 feet. With teams and fans all around at the bottom cheering. F1 is the greatest show on Earth let’s make it even more AWESOME.
Mandatory use of all three tire compounds would be interesting! Every race would be minimum two stop, and the strategy for when to use each tire could really shake up the start and long runs throughout the race. More overtakes would be likely as many drivers would be on different strategies and compounds at the same time. It could also reduce tire failures like we saw in Qatar and Baku.
Hey Nico. The thing I would like to change about formula 1 is the early retirements. Just watching f2 highlights where a couple guys were out first corner first lap for a broken front wing. Do it like nascar. Fix the car and get them back out there. Give the first car a lap down their lap back on a caution and give those drivers a chance. The f1 retirements has always been something that has bugged me. Someone caught in a gravel trap and their race is over. I think we would see some good mid pack battles. Thanks for the track analysis videos. You are a legend!!
So my idea is just for Monaco. Do qualifying on Thursday which sets the grid for a sprint race in go carts on Saturday. Imagine the sends you'd see into every corner and how much it could mix up the grid
One thing I would love to add to the current F1 format is awarding points for pole position. This would add more value on pole position. So I would love see that happening.
Tighter budget caps paired with much more engineering freedom on the power units I'd love to see some of the innovation that could come out of the teams
Would be fun to watch a race where there are previous f1 world champions(indluding you mr. Rosberg) in the the current car and let them race and see who still got it.
One thing I would change about f1 is returning to Africa probably kylami in South Africa as every other continent (except Antarctica) has a grand Prix except Africa and I think I would allow 1 billion more people to access the racing and it would truly make it a world championship.
I’d like to see one engine manufacturer and aero limitations to allow cars to follow closer. I want to know who the fastest driver is rather than the most efficient car. Just my preference.
Hey Nico, I wouldn't change too much to be fair maybe some minor tweeks. My changes would be, 1. Make all engines have the same horse power for round one with updates only allowed after race 1. 2. Allow more freedom with regulations around overall design as we rarely see technical marvels like the 6 wheeler's or the fan car. 3. Allow any car to challenge for the fastest lap. But it most be done before the last ten laps of the race. 4. Once a year one round will take place with reserve drivers only. 5. Create a championship for fastest laps. 6. Bring back Nico Rosberg 😀
I would LOVE more new tracks like this to appear to keep the competition fresh. Imagine an F1 calendar that consists of only unraced tracks that have no historical data. I know it's unrealistic but that would really push the drivers and the teams to push boundaries and the differences would shine through even more than they do so currently.
Talks about how dangerous that high speed wall corner is and almost dies in his hot lap. Sim or not. You can feel the importance of hitting your marks there. I’ve hit this wall many times in sim and I just shut the game off and have to mentally recover from that mistake lol. Respect ✊ 🙏🏼
I think the tracks should alternate. Perhaps use the historic tracks, and alternate the newer tracks based on a mix of viewer polls and input from the teams. Lastly, (and please don't delete this one), I would like to see you interview Lewis.
I love to see F1 promoting new electrification innovation from the track to the road. One idea is like DRS zones is to have sections of the track where induction current wirelessly charge the battery (or something like slotcars) for extra boost or opting to use less fuel for the race. For public uses. It can be placed on section of highways extending range for ev's
The viewing experience of F1 on TV has so much potential for improvement - showing us things like replays of how a driver made a turn - when did they start breaking, when they did shift gears, etc. how much time did they gain or lose in a turn. Right now I feel like the amount of skill involved isn't really given the spotlight, you just see cars zooming around.
I would add a qualifying session on the Saturday where the F1 teams had to use F2 and development drivers. This would give more drivers more opportunities to get in an F1 car and drive it at maximum pace. The quickest times in the session would earn points for their respective teams in the constructor championships
One of the things that i would like to try out, would be to eventually reduce the amount of time that teams spends in simulators. Teams gather extreme amounts of data so even when they arrive at Fridays before FP1, they know exactly what to expect track condition wise, set-up wise and so on. I would personally like to see this slowing down and on the same time, i would like to see the return of in season testing. Since F1 has implemented budget cap, there would be some limitations on how these tests would occur(lets say 10 days per year in a circuit that's not used for an official race session), but each team would have the freedom to do whatever they want : help one of their current drivers get in grips with an F1 machinery(if we talk about a rookie), do some car development tests for the upcoming race or most importantly, test some drivers. We would have the opportunity to see some names from the States testing a current version F1 car and a switch from Indycar let's say, might be possible. These tests would also help some younger engineers learn the job the F1 world at a less stressful way.
I would remove qualifying from the race, and set the grid randomly for every race. Another idea is to set the grid in the reverse order of the driver standings. Racing would see a new era the day this happens.
A new bad era. Luck would dominate. Can you imagine the rage if in Abu Dhabi, some man pulling a paper out of the hat puts Lewis on the front row and Max in P15? No.
@@hdr_diamondz Clearly the world's most expensive sport will not rely on picking names out of a hat for selecting random names. Every driver will be occupying one grid spot every season and the number of races more that the driver may have standard quali. They can program their algorithm (at the most basic level without the implementation of any machine learning) to pop whatever position a driver has occupied before from the list of 1-20. Also, in case you missed the second suggestion, that case handles the title fight scenario for the last race very well.
Teams sharing their innovations. Full transparency when developing improvements to a car. Imagine a scenario where Mercedes brings a winning setup to a race and everyone can match it and bring improvements by the next race. The other teams would share their findings as well and the joint effort would improve all cars on the grid and would make F1 more about the driving and the continuos development of tech by the best engineers in the world. And if the cars would be almost equal, the driver with the least points would be automatically replaced the next season by a young upcoming driver from F2 (alongside with other driver line-up changes).
I would add a race to the seasons beginning, middle, and end. where points won’t be counted. But it’s different to any race since in these particular races, drivers will all have the same car made by the FIA, and so equal opportunity. This will help us see the development of drivers throughout the season, and how good they drive when given the same car, so that drivers in the smaller teams can show their skills. 🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎 Good luck to everyone, hope you the best in this giveaway. 😊
That would be carnage, I imagine the back of the grid going all in trying to show their value, while the big boys would have to do the same to avoid humiliation
it would be good until you see beyond these things, and realise that getting to grips with a different car can take 2-3k kms. I think your idea would be phenomenal, if they had the same cars all season long.
0:34 had the exact same concern when I saw the onboard for the first time. I feel at least that part of the track should have had a decent amount of runoff. Things can go terrible in the opening lap in that one section, hope it all goes fine without any incident
I would like to introduce points for poles. Drivers are risking to get the pole position so we should award them points for pole positions so it will be interesting..... And also I would like to see some reverse grid races same as sprint races...
What would you change in the F1 race format, regulations etc. to make races even more interesting? Top comment wins a surprise gift...I look forward to your ideas! Subscribe to my channel for my 1 Million Subscribers surprise video going live soon: bit.ly/NicoRosbergYT
It'd be fun if the cars had the same speed and all that so it's not that Lewis and all those people lap everyone so it's more competitive

Less interference from Stewards. Make it a fair play in terms of regulation, avoid complexities
Imagine having a Virtual Reality camera on every driver's helmet and being able to watch the race from their point of view in a VR headset + being able to switch between different drivers and even replays. This would be a true game changer in terms of watching F1.

They don't have the VR but currently you can watch the entire race from each driver's on-board cam. VR would be sick AF though

Top 15 finishers at least. Finishing 11th all season should be worth more than coming dead last in every race except one where they get 10th
It is such a privilege having an F1 Champion TH-cam channel and getting to the grips of all tracks. Thank you, Nico!!
Adding an extra corner where the "longest drift" can earn an extra pt :D

@@oplisderi3164 Street circuits do not have to be dangerous, you see innovative series like Formula E using them exclusively. Yes, they run cars with drastically less power but the key factor is when you keep the barriers very close and parallel to the circuit, the angle of attack of any collision is shallower which means that you only take a small fraction of the horizontal force that you normally would were the barrier to be further from the track.
That wasn't the same corner, the wall Nico is talking about actually isn't even a wall in real life that's where they have the chicane that cara keep sending big sparks off of
@@exiledrabbit are you sure? im looking at leclercs fp2 crash and that seems to be the same corner nico was talking about. am i missing something?
@@tiny_n1 you're right i was wrong, i thought it was on the first half of the circuit
WE NEED THIS, And only ex racers are in the box commentating
This is a great idea, Gasly has had an insane year but you don’t really see that much of it
Agree. This year I watched Zandvoort from perpective of one driver. I mean onboard, radio, timing. Official broadcast was in the background. Completely different race, such a grest emotions. I didn't even know what was happening in front and I didn't mind it.
Or at least a dedicated mid-field highlights and a championship battle highlights
I would redesign all pit lanes in an attempt to make pit stop time loss as low as possible, hopefully around 15s. This is the problem that is killing race strategies. Reducing tyre life just makes races even more conservative. By reducing time loss from pit stops, teams will do 2-stops and push more.
No maximum speed in pitlane. There, I solved the problem for you
@@Peter-fm3wr that is SO dangerous
Yeah there are some tracks where the speed limit line is way too early just to keep the time up (eg silverstone)
I agree to an extent but I think the bigger issue is how hard it is to overtake on many tracks and so track position is so important. Even if you do a 2 stop and are much faster you may struggle to overtake often.
I’m hoping the 2022 cars go a long way to solve that but let’s see.
@@Peter-fm3wr Death. There, I solved the problem fo you
When a person who has won a F1 championship says the track is nuts and is glad he isn't racing you know the track is bonkers
Adding a Toto cam that exclusively allows me to watch his reactions in real time.
We sure miss you on the track, Nico! I’m pretty certain there are a lot of people who agree with me that used to pull for you every race and wish you nothing but the best in your retirement from F1. I really enjoy your analyses of the tracks!
Would love to see a F1 driver kart race where all 20 drivers take part in
Bring back the V10s!!!!!!!!
If tracks had pit exits with corners leading back onto the track (similar to Brazil) it could make it harder to predict whether the undercut will work or not and make for better viewing when you have Lewis flat down the pit straight and Max coming out of the pit exit and to see who would come out ahead
I would like to see F1 cars with horns. Everytime someone interrupts a flying lap you can give them a little "boop boop" (*cough Nikita)
Bruh... 😂
Well, didn't age well, did it? FP3 incident between Nikita and Hamilton
There weren't any flags, hamilton didn't know he was coming.
I would love a guy called Nico Rosberg to be racing again. Excitement overload :P
Lol...seems like he's living his best life though.
New engine penalty should be reversed. The more engines over the limit, the higher the grid penalty should be. Not lower
personally i would like to see a driver switch between slow and fast teams. even just for fun in testing, it would be interesting to see hamilton and bottas or verstappen and perez switch cars with mick and mazepin or russell and latifi. i think making this switch (even just in testing) could create a cool tradition where drivers get to experience other cars
Max:"hey Lewis, can I have a turn in the merc? "
*crashes turn 1*
Mwhahahaha
Max got a 50k penalty just for giving a minor tickle to lewis' wing
You think teams what other people in their cars?
It was a miracle merc allowed even George
You have to earn the right to be in the top 6 cars
it be kinda cool if the teammates could talk to eachother in the middle of the race and make strategies
Agreed
Chaos and carnage
Oí that’s a shout
Hahaha you don’t realize that teams have many many people during the race working on which strategy is best. It would be of 0 added value for a team to let their drivers communicate with each other.
@@jopvandam6820 But all those strategists can't actually feel the car physically, only the drivers can. The drivers communicating can allow for better strategies.
E.g. I need you to attempt to undercut Max because I'm stuck behind him and have a lot more pace so when he pits, I can overcut him and you can get track position.
E.g. Can you give me DRS so I can hold off Lewis?
We need more circuit changes, like Abu Dhabi and Melbourne. To create more overtaking opportunities, closer, smoother and faster racing
My idea was that in the end of the season we need to make an extra-race where everybody runs on the same car so to end-up negotiations about skills & cars balance
I would change the camera angles. Sometimes it is hard to watch the race and know who is where
Yeah, or just more halo cams. Its insane how we dont see more of the actual racing - the lines and corners. Too much far away panning
Alonso and Russel have had some helmet cam stuff this year!
@@Hacktheplanet_ that’s because those extra views are used for race control, if we saw all those views then race control would have a mob on their hands every weekend.
Subscribe to F1 TV and you can see the race from any drivers perspective.
know that this has been suggested on reddit but I seriously believe it would be much better if they had a mini feed of the live race while showing replays
Then fans would not be hyped on them
This circuit feels dangerous in some areas.
Points for the most overtakes during a race and only one driver for each team, so no team orders or driving in favor of first team driver.
Thank you
I love watching the face cam while you do laps, I always picture pro drivers being able to do their stuff effortlessly but to see you pulling faces while you concentrate makes me not so embarrassed when I do it rofl
Agree! I would love to see active aero permitted.
Something the smaller guys wouldn't have much to their hands to compete if they're allowed to go all out
I think that simplifying both the Aero concepts, perhaps with some standarzation between the teams, and of course simpler, more inviting Engine rules to allow new manufacturers/in house departments to be made as well as more varied interpretations should have to take priority before the Teams could go all out on their designs, or else we might see the return of the early 2000s and 2010s Ferrari/Merc Dominance, if not worse
I’d love to see a race with only “retired” F1 drivers from past eras go racing with the same teams and cars at the end of the championship almost like the celebrity game at the NBA all star weekend in a way
Hi Nico,
I love hearing your commentary on F1, it's always great to see you on Sky commentating.
My proposals for changes to F1 rules:
If drivers change tyres under a red flag, a time penalty will be imposed equal to the average time lost for a tyre change at that track, the time period of the penalty will be determined before the race.
Wow, very stupid!
My change...let them use any tires at any time..no rule of have to use 2 compounds yadayada, and smaller lighter cars.
What about track evolution? Fastest laps usually happen at the end of the session. Whoever goes early would be at a big disadvantage.
@@evilsheep37 do it as a top 5 session only, fastest in previous session goes first.
Nah Simone rarely makes mistakes, especially in qualifying
Just a time trial based weekend would be the go, fastest cars in the world with no inhibitions going for it. Would be nail biting
@@evilsheep37 reverse championship order. The slower cars could go later to level the playing field
Alonso watching Verstappen qualifying lap while giving a interview is the best footage of the year
Love your analysis Nico.
This guy has good knowledge about f1 i think he should be an f1 driver
Actually might work, but a bit artificial ngl.
Seriously DRS trains can ruin a race for a driver and makes boring racing. I’m surprised this isn’t talked about more
To be honest, having like a VR way to watch F1. Imagine being at the cockpit of an driver and looking at those top speed!
I'd like to see the format they brought in this year on a couple of races, go fix for all race venues, where you have the sprint race. So P1 to P3. Sprint race after quallifing, and then the main race on sunday. More racing. More for the fans.
I hated the sprint races a lot unfortunately if they made every race that way I would never watch it.
Nico we are waiting on your analysis of the Saudi GP, please
Hand out extra points for EVERY fastest lap of (sprint) races. So you can collect multiple fastest lap points. Sets an end to tactical slow driving because everybody needs to be on pace to collect and neglect bonus points every lap.
Would honestly love the old qualifying format back for a few races a year
I would be not be giving any DRS advantage, to give every driver level playing field to race and win without this advantage. This makes the race worth to watch the drivers skill coming to play with the strategies.
Thanks for this opportunity.
So zero overtaking
U r a mug
@@hdr_diamondz but they can't win so no problem
I want to see Nico commentating every race. That will make things exciting in F1
Glad to see you’re still at it. Miss you racing Nico! You have gave us really good moments
The cars should've had higher rpm with the new regulations in 2022, but with honda leaving the sport the engine regulations have been delayed to 2025
This track is crazy, imagine driving like that with those walls that close
I miss the low down & close to the track angles. I think at the moment, Spa has some of the best angles to see what the cars are really doing.
I would like to see Nico Rosberg back driving in Formula 1, that would make races more interesting for sure! ;)
So I would love see that happening.
wow this track is insane, just like when you won your title and sadly left f1 :( miss you so much Nico :)
Tighter budget caps paired with much more engineering freedom on the power units I'd love to see some of the innovation that could come out of the teams
Would be fun to watch a race where there are previous f1 world champions(indluding you mr. Rosberg) in the the current car and let them race and see who still got it.
Maditory 2 pit stops is what I would change. Makes strategy more interesting
One thing I would change about f1 is returning to Africa probably kylami in South Africa as every other continent (except Antarctica) has a grand Prix except Africa and I think I would allow 1 billion more people to access the racing and it would truly make it a world championship.
Imagine the Antarctic gp 😂

I’d like to see one engine manufacturer and aero limitations to allow cars to follow closer. I want to know who the fastest driver is rather than the most efficient car. Just my preference.
Hey Nico,
I wouldn't change too much to be fair maybe some minor tweeks.
My changes would be,
I think if on the broadcast, they showed both onboards of two drivers who are battling of overtaking. I think it would make it super tense.
I think it's called MarioKart 🤣🤣
The viewing experience of F1 on TV has so much potential for improvement - showing us things like replays of how a driver made a turn - when did they start breaking, when they did shift gears, etc. how much time did they gain or lose in a turn.
Right now I feel like the amount of skill involved isn't really given the spotlight, you just see cars zooming around.
Let only race guys like Kimi, Fernando & Seb. 😂
And bring back guys like Niko, Jenson and Mark Webber
Oh yes please! F1 without paydrivers would be much greater
I would add a qualifying session on the Saturday where the F1 teams had to use F2 and development drivers. This would give more drivers more opportunities to get in an F1 car and drive it at maximum pace. The quickest times in the session would earn points for their respective teams in the constructor championships
Very good idea
what a stupid idea lol
Yoooo the full belly laugh after 8:10 full send is priceless! Gracias Nico!
I would love Nico to be back in the Mercedes for some quality rivalry with Lewis.
Well, you were absolutely right, Nico; it was completely crazy. Totally nuts.
The one thing I would change is put Nico in the commentator seat. Your insights and knowledge are always great.
Good luck to everyone, hope you the best in this giveaway. 😊
would be good but overtaking would be very diffcult. would be exciting if qualifying or practice was made permanantly like this
That would be carnage, I imagine the back of the grid going all in trying to show their value, while the big boys would have to do the same to avoid humiliation
it would be good until you see beyond these things, and realise that getting to grips with a different car can take 2-3k kms.
I think your idea would be phenomenal, if they had the same cars all season long.
They have racing like that - it's called NASCAR
0:34 had the exact same concern when I saw the onboard for the first time. I feel at least that part of the track should have had a decent amount of runoff. Things can go terrible in the opening lap in that one section, hope it all goes fine without any incident
I'd back Ecclestone and add the water sprinklers that randomly go off during the race at any time and any part of the track 👌
Having cameras on drones following the cars, I think the best angles are from the top, you get to see exactly the space that is left on every battle.
I would like to introduce points for poles.
Drivers are risking to get the pole position so we should award them points for pole positions so it will be interesting.....
And also I would like to see some reverse grid races same as sprint races...
Respectfully I say keep ol reliable. Even sprints can go tbh
4:56 Nico: "did you look at the wall outside here?" Charles: "correct."
The on-boards should be streamed on 180° cameras for a more realistic feeling of the speed
Also, Leclerc just hit that wall you were talking about
