No matter who you support, it’s going down to Abu Dhabi now, and that already makes this the best season of the turbo-hybrid era. (I know Nico vs Lewis went down to Abu Dhabi in 2014/16, but seeing battles between teams is always more special).
This one is much better not only because of the different constructors but also because neither of them can hang back and cruise to 2nd place and the championship. They have to beat each other on track. My only concern is Max is leading because of the number of wins. I’m worried he’ll crash Hamilton out of the race.

@@mattblock6616 I thought that too, don’t think he deserved it at all. And that’s not me hating on Max or Redbull. I just don’t think he was the best driver out there, neither was Hamilton.
The fact that Hamilton AND Verstappen both finished the race (and did so in 1th and 2nd twenty seconds ahead of everyone else) is beyond belief. They switched positions 8 times during the race, made contact at least 3 times and were running on a track best described as an "obstacle course". There's probably an argument to be made here that the best drivers manage to keep their car in one piece even under the most violent circumstances.
@@Soskeman808 I thought so too, at first I thought his chance to win was diminished depending on Max's mediums, but then he started setting fastest lap after fastest lap. I guess enough downforce remained but some drag was removed.
I really think the FIA and Michael Masi need to up their game. All this controversy in decision making never seemed to happen under Charlie Whiting. Lots of questionable calls across the whole season
It doesn't matter what the FIA decides. There will always be someone complaining. The f1 community is becoming very toxic and they're never happy or satisfied. Funny how these fans just started watching f1 this year and they suddenly know the rules and regulations better than the stewards themselves. They ruin the vibe instead of just enjoying the season.

@T B yeah I agree with the outcome, but the process of getting there was messy was my point. The only issue I probably had was why did max get a penalty for going off track here when he didn't get one in Brazil? It's just Inconsistent and frustrating. And the fact Mercedes only learned about Max letting him by at the last second was weird and probably caused the incident.
@@mawwalmazie agreed. I get that they wanted to see if they could get it cleared up without a red flag if possible, but the nature of the track sort of necessitated one. @@t.mcgarry4 I think you're right on the money with the cause of the incident. Had race control sent the message out to both teams simultaneously to inform their drivers what was going to happen, the incident would not have occurred.
Best season ever! Can’t write it any better! Top 2 drivers equal in points for the first time since 1974 w/ one race left down to the wire. Time to book flights to Abu Dhabi!
Things the fia got wrong today 1) not giving bottas a penalty for driving unnecessarily slowly when hamilton got a penalty for the same in 2017 bahrain 2) giving red bull a choice on whether or not they wanted to accept a penalty( like since when is that a thing?) 3) giving multiple vsc instead of just one safety car for all the debris Like does f1 even have rules anymore? Or is this just advanced Mario kart
1 week to the end of this generation's cars, Kimi's 20-year long career, Russell's Williams career, Gio's F1 career (for now I hope), and Bottas's Mercedes career.
I mean it's not just the tires, Hamilton had a front wing change before also that saved his race. Red flag is usually rare so it doesn't happen often but not in this track apparently.
I enjoyed the F2 race even though it was 2 hours, 6 laps and 2 of the drivers were taken to hospital. Now I'm writing this I'm not sure why I enjoyed it
Man that was action packed! I wish we had 3-5 teams fighting for the championship, not just 2 that would be insane! Hopefully the 2022 cars will allow for closer competition.
It’s not even 2 teams, more like 2 halves of 2 teams. Except for a couple of instances in the last few races, neither Bottas nor Perez have pulled off significant team mate duties other than scoring points for the constructors championship. And that is to be expected considering they’re sitting in the fastest cars by a country mile. Back when refuelling was allowed, they likes of Coulthard, Irvine, Barrichello would put together some monster driving, keeping the lighter competition behind them so their championship contending team mates could fly away in their lighter cars. Nowadays nobody fights anymore. They drive around, saving fuel and conserving their tires, waiting for the opposition to fly passed thanks to DRS. Here’s to hoping for the ˋ22 cars !
I don't know the rules so I'm happy to be corrected but afaik the rules state to slow down and catch up to the safety car. After having done so he has to stay within 10 car lengths of it. I don't think it says anything about how close you have to stay to other cars before that. He was also approaching and passing through the double yellow sector so he can argue he was giving a sufficient speed drop so he could stop if there was the need as stated in the rules for that situation.
@@Firecul You still need to stay on pace with the pace car, and the rest of the field. That's where the problem is. He wasn't on pace, and was putting redbull (and anyone else behind them) at a disadvantage.
I am surprised Bottas didn't get dinged for that. Possibly with everything else going on it got overlooked (isn't there a time limit for notifying teams of investigations? I'm thinking Barrichelo's steering wheel at Monaco, or a Schumacher penalty which got rescinded on appeal because the stewards took too long), or maybe because of the red flag they just judged that it negated it.
As a huge Hamilton fan, this race was an absolute shitshow, at this point FIA don't even care about making the right decisions. They spent the entire 2nd half of the season making sure that both Hamilton and Verstappen came to the last race as close as possible on points so the finale could be thrilling. Several races in a row where there are just crazy unacceptable decisions being made.

2 teams 4 drivers same point last race maybe intresting
Last year, we had no teams fighting for the championship. Let's be content.
