prob not true but anyway ...i really feel this video was helpful on other points ..i do think there is a point though that we can't stop to pick every daisy ....but still come home with a nice bouquet etc ...you can't speak to everyone at a large party but you still have to have a social life..the details have to make up the picture. if they don't they are useless. and you just wasted time on a lot of details that now make no sense. brilliant video though i loved it

I like the quote about pursuing riches from the book, 'The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck': "The more you desperately want to be rich, the more poor and unworthy you feel, regardless of how much money you actually make." Jamila made an excellent point along these lines with the statement about wanting more superseding the ability to enjoy what you achieve. In the infinite wisdom of Biggy Smalls, "mo money, mo problems".

I agree with you about wasting the money that quickly. My father was born poor, he's struggling growing up until he managed to get his Nautical Degree and became a Chief Mate in an International Tanker Ship. The money was overwhelming for him in the 80's BUT he spent it all. Now, at 75 years old living in a Slam area in the Philippines where he started. That is why, I changed my course of life NOT to be like him because I don't want my son experienced what we experienced growing up (de-ja vu) My father was living in a La-la Land and forget to give a better life for his family. The irony, his 3 daughters still supporting him for his medical expenses because he has NO savings to talk with only his Big ego 😅

When it comes to spending money I ask myself two questions: do I need the product/service? Am I just trying to satisfy a deeper need that has nothing to do with the product/service?
Tiny exemple: i feel like buying a cream for my skin.
Do I need one? Or do I already have one at home that's still far from finished?
Do I have a deeper need that I'm trying to satisfy? Am I trying to feel better by taking care of my skin while I'm having serious issues at work that make me feel horrible about myself? (the solution being taking care of those problems first and not covering the bruise with foundation), if so, is the product worth it? Am I really going to feel better if I take care of my skin while my career is crumbling and I haven't done anything about it? Is spending the money worth it? Am I trying to get a sense of accomplishment from buying a product because I'm not getting it from my work?
If the answer is that I currently don't have a cream and I need one, then I buy it. If the problem is elsewhere, throwing away money is only going to make things worse and make me poorer so I refrain.

Loved this video! I finished reading this book recently and enjoyed hearing your take-aways. The final point reminded me of the saying 'money screams but wealth whispers'. The truly wealthy and elite don't want to be seen, known, or distinguishable in a crowd, because unwanted attention often takes away from what they're trying to achieve.
Also, how about a Jamila book club for your Patreon subscribers? That would be pretty cool.
