In my city in Canada we have what is called "Art Crawl". A monthly street art fest. It is organic. The local galleries and shops open late at night during "Art Crawl" which draws thousands of people to the street. Nobody runs it, no local government interference, it just happens freely for over 10 years - people showing and selling their art, musicians performing. I am inspired by Tadashi Onishi's project - and have thought about doing something similar for a long time now. and will try doing this here. Thanks Samuel, for bringing this to your channel and introducing us to Tadashi.

In VoidTokyo try to shoot Tokyo while it is changing because of Olympics 2020. Then Onishi san uses the white walls used for constructions and building reforms. It makes sense😄

You should go for it Samuel. As they say ‘It’s sometimes better to ask for forgiveness than permission’. What’s the worst that could have. You get asked to move on.

I would totally come by and watch if you manage to do this in Hamburg. I absolutely love street photography and the work you are doing in the field.
There are lots of street artists out throughout the Mönckebergstraße and around the town hall, so why shouldn't it be possible to set up a beamer and a decent projection surface in the evening 😊

Hello Samuel! This is a very interesting idea and project! Thank you for showing it to us. I couldn't find the reference to the film you showed that inspired him to do this project. Could you, perhaps, post its IMDB page? Thank you very much!

This guy is cool. I've been hearing a lot that Japanese people hate having photos taken of them candidly and that it's considered rude there, but tokyo is a street photographer's dream so I'll be snapping anyway either way next month. This guy is cool shit, I like the project.

  • @appleshampoo324

2:37 this is why I like Japan. If you try to be nice in European cities, people immediately think you're trying to scam them into something. And often they do indeed try to scam you. :D

Really cool but I didn't see a single passer-by stop or show any interest at all in what was going on. I assume the blonde lady did but she seemed to be the exception. Her dress style said "art" so maybe that was the reason.
