- Hey guys! The best way to do street photography is to have a plan before you step outside. But what CAN you shoot? In this video we explore ALL the types of street photography subjects you can capture. The goal here is not to be a be-all-end-all guide, but a step to understanding the variety of photographs we can create on the streets. I am by no means a street photography expert, so comment with anything you think might help the group.

I can't believe my good fortune to stumble upon this video. I have been doing photography off and on for close to 50 years. I take a picture of something almost every day. This is the most concise, well thought out and informative explanation of street photography I am aware of. Great job!

I think you nailed it. This would be a great way to start any street photography course. I do usually think about this type of thing before I go out. What do I feel like chasing today? how brave am I feeling? What is the light like? What lens do I feel like using? And then maybe picking 1 or 2 or 3 of these to focus on.

I'm still new to street photography and this is very helpful to someone who might be having an "identity crisis" as to what kind of photos they're more inclined to taking when out on the streets. But I've found that the best way to learn is to dive in, learn from experience and in time you'll know what you love and feel comfortable with shooting. It's a never ending journey and expect a lot of failures along the way 😊

That typology is nothing less than a contribution to photography theory! It helped me organize my own thoughts around a topic that I find fascinating but couldn’t get a handle on because of all these types.
