Maybe it is the fact that both of them aren't afraid to take on anime roles during the duels or maybe it is the authentic hype, enthusiasm, and energy between them, there is just something that makes these videos next level in a 1v1 vid. The reason why you can't negate the summons of trap monsters is because they occur during the resolution of a chain. It's like trying to judgment bystials, or trying to judgment a mirrorjade summon.

Sam’s energy with both dion & dino ( the two idiots ) are god level I love it when he has them on the channel it’s just something about the energy that makes it enjoyable and plus the duels are longer

I’m quite surprised that imperial custom didn’t make it into the decks. It offers protection for from the pop and it a truely god sent card in a trap deck.

Honestly, there was ONE CARD you could have played to win the game faster and easier. OMINOUS FORTUNETELLING. (Effect is select one card from your opponents hand and call the type of card,and if you call it, inflict 700 damage to your opponent)
The reason angel statue didn't work was because trap monster are special summoned by an effect, for a card to negate a summon it must be able to respond directly to that summon hence meaning angel statue could not, it also wouldn't work on a fusion summoned monster or a monster like gryphon rider that special summons by effect.
NGL, recently I've been watching Sykunnos Yugi-oh battles and Yugi-oh videos are being recommended to me, And so far your channel is the one I enjoyed the most. Hopefully you get to play with Syk and yugi-oh and your friend group. Since they like to roleplay you can be their voice from within that coaches them what to play. Enjoy your content. Hey Sam, Did you know you can click and drag your cards to place them on the field and the game will recognize what it is and place it properly? For example. Dragging traps onto the field will automatically set them for you. Similarly if you are attacking in your main phase you will swap to battle phase by clicking and dragging which monster you want to attack with.
I don't know if you have already done that, but I believe it will be fun if you have a duel with traps only for the main decks, but extra decks allowed. So that you will be aiming to sincro, xyz and link summon using the traps as materials. I have a deck with that idea and it is not so competitive but it is fun to play with it
Everything from asking for one more turn to going into jar of avarice to be able to not lose by deck out then the judgement of the judgment then down to the wire was very entertaining
For trap turtling like this they should have used some Battle Mania or Yang Zing Unleashed, to force their opponent to attack their high defense walls.
