In the past incense sticks were made of pure scented herbs,sandal wood ,rose petals etc.....but these days there is adulteration of products we don't know. Many get headaches.,doubt can be there.
I saw some comments asking is shes shia. no rather she challenges all "traditionalist" views which means challenge even the salaf which is something she has in common with the shia. She is basically a modernist not surprising she is a supposed muslim academic in the west where they are more tolerant/accepting of these things.
Their is so much wrong in what this woman is saying regarding the salaf, despite her accurate analysis of the haal of muslim and non muslim communities...(a word used in the lightest sense) ..
